I got my first period after my miscarriage this week. It came about 5 weeks after the m/c which is normal for me as my cycles are usually 35-37 days.

My period was a bit heavier than usual, with bright red blood which i dont usually get. There was no clots just bright red blood for the first 3 days. It wasn't extremely heavy, just more so than usual. My main concern is that I had NO symptoms before or during my period. I always get lower back cramps a few days before my period comes & for the first day of bleeding but I had no cramps at all. It didnt even feel like I had my period! I always know when it's coming as I get back cramps for a few days but this time I just woke up & it was there! Has anyone else experienced this? Could it be a sign my hormone levels are not back to normal levels after the m/c?

I also only had a 12 day luteal phase - is that bad?

We wanted to start TTC again this month but I'm worried that my hormone levels still might not be back on track and if I was to fall pregnant I might not have the right hormone levels to support the pregnancy?

Am I being over paranoid? Or is all this normal for a first period after miscarriage? Do you think we are right to start TTC again? I just want to be pregnant again but I'm so scared!

Just wanted to share my experience with the Logan hospital. I think a lot of people don't think very highly of it being in Logan but I have definitely had a wonderful experience there in such a horrible time.

I started bleeding 2 weeks ago at 7 weeks pregnant, saw my local GP who referred me for bloods and Ultrasound - those tests came up okay, they dated us at only 5 weeks 4 days so the HCG levels were low but all matched those dates. After another week the bleeding hadn't stopped and i was experiencing pretty bad lower back pain so went back to GP. He didn't send us for anymore tests, just said to cross out fingers and if the pain gets worse or bleeding increases to go to the hospital.
Put up with it for another couple of days but the day before we were 9 weeks my back pain was pretty severe, bleeding was getting heavier again and i was feeling light headed and dizzy so went up to the hospital. From the very beginning the staff were very kind and understanding as I was pretty upset. That night they took bloods and did an internal check but couldn't tell me too much as they didn't have the needed Ultrasound equipment after hours. My HCG levels had gone up from my blood test 2 weeks ago but was nowhere near where they should be. So said they would refer me to the early pregnancy unit who would contact me within the next 48 hours. I received a call from them the next afternoon and they asked me to come down within the hour to have the ultrasounds and see the doctor there. Unfortunately they were unable to find a heartbeat during the ultrasound so our fears of miscarriage were confirmed. They discussed 3 options with us - letting the process continue naturally, taking medication to help it pass or having a D&C. We decided on the D&C as we just wanted it over and done with and i was definitely well and truly over bleeding. They booked us in the following morning. Being a saturday pre-op isn't open so we had to check in via Emergency. Arrived there at 6am to take the medication that helps dilate the cervix and then had to wait a couple of hours. Again the staff were all very lovely and understanding. Got called for theatre at 8am and I was prepped by the nurses in emergency who were fantastic again. Got taken over to theatre and met the nurses and Surgeon. i was pretty anxious as this was my first time in hospital and again they were all so kind and talked me through everything. The anaesthetist was called to an emergency with a baby so it was delayed a bit there but the nurses made sure i was very comfortable through the wait.
After the procedure was complete they were able to find me an empty double room so my husband and i could have some privacy and the nurses in the ward were really lovely again. they kept me there for about 4 hours to ensure i ate sometime and was fairly pain free. I was given the option to stay the night or go home - home was definitely my preference. The surgeon came to check on me and gave me the okay to go home. He was only very young but super lovely and has obviously done a great job as there were no complications and i have experienced very little discomfort other than some lower back pain last night. Today (day after) i'm pain free.
They were also very kind and understanding to my husband ensuring he was okay and offered him support as well. I thought this was amazing as i think men often get forgotten about during this time.

Sorry about the novel, I just really wanted to let other women in the Logan area know about my experience so they have no hesitations on going there. When we fall pregnant again if i have any complications i would definitely have no hesitations on going there again. As devastated as we both are about loosing our first baby, I feel a lot more relaxed about the process and have definitely received all the support we could have asked for. Thanks to Logan Hospital.

Hi everyone,
I haven't been around BH since we lost our little one last October. We have yet to achieve another pregnancy (still hopeful though - and we have 2 sons so we are blessed). Today I took a day off the usual uni routine and have spent some time finding a few new things for the garden that will remind me of the little one, as well as nice new indoor plant to brighten things up in here. It was really therapeutic.

My thoughts are with all of you who have had the due date come and go, or are waiting for it to pass. It is quite a milestone, and I truly hope we all hold the babies we long for soon.

Dr nurse said this dermoid was rare and can give false positive pregnancy. Im seing OBGYN next week to discuss the recent surgery.

Just feel I need to get my story off my chest. This is (was) my second pregnancy - both via IVF. I have a little boy who was 11mths when we conceived again. The pregnancy was text book and I was showing quite a lot and we had just announced to all our family and friends.

A week ago I thought I was getting flu and saw my obstetrician who also thought I had early stages of flu. Baby was fine. 12 hours later I was in huge pain so went to delivery suits where they admitted me while trying to figure out what was going on. It turns out I had a staph infection in my blood and was very very sick.

They started treatment of antibiotics but that afternoon my waters broke. The OB did an ultrasound and the babies heart was still beating but all the water around the baby was gone. The OB explained that the baby had virtually no chance of survival and that it was more than likely I would go into labour overnight and deliver the baby. If I didn't go into labour naturally they would ultimately have to administer drugs to bring on labour. At that point he was happy to wait however said that if my health deteriorated he would have to take matters out of our hands and start the induction.

The OB was great and explained how the labour would feel, that I would have to push the baby out and that the baby may move and try to breath, but that it would quickly die. The staff would wrap the baby and photograph it etc.

We lasted the night and in the morning I spoke to the OB as I didn't feel up to delivering the baby and wanted to understand our options. Surgical delivery was explained to us and we were encouraged to have a high res ultrasound. I am really glad we did this.

Firstly, the u/s showed our baby had died overnight and so we felt much better that we weren't having to choose to end the babies life. Secondly, our baby had been quite badly damaged by the lack of waters. The uterine walls had closed around the baby and as its skeleton was not yet solid it had become quite disformed. The head was very squashed and the spine was badly bent in a couple of places.

This reaffirmed our decision to opt for surgical delivery - I am really glad I didn't deliver the baby and have to see the misshapen little thing. I will remember it as the fat little healthy baby sucking its thumb from our NT scan.

Our baby was delivered surgically that evening. Initial tests show that the baby was perfectly healthy prior to me getting sick.

Now I am embarking on the physical recovery from the illness but also the emotional recovery from losing our baby.

At this point it is the little things that I find challenging: the box full of maternity clothes that i ordered online that just arrived, putting my hands on my swollen belly and not feeling anything anymore, our Christmas holiday plans that should have been as a family of 4 being readjusted back to organizing for 3....

Thanks for listening. Any advice or suggestions warmly welcomed.

Ive also had heartburn for the last 2-3 days. I did have some heartburn during the pregnancy but that was at around 7 weeks so I havent had it for a while. I never get heartburn when not pregnant. Would the miscarriage cause this? We also DTD on monday but of course I believe its probably too soon to Ovulate (even though it can happen). Anyone know whats going on or had this??? Its really annoying and I dont eat fast or anything so its not related to my foods

I'm devastated! But right now I just want it out of me! Does anyone know any ways to bring on miscarriage naturally? I don't want to have a d&c and I just want it gone so I can move on. I feel like I'm being heartless wanting to forget about it but maybe that's natural?

I'm wondering when my cycles will get back into routine and when I will first ovulate after a natural miscarriage? I had a complete miscarriage at home just over 3 weeks ago. I have been monitoring my HCG levels which were finally down to 5 exactly 3 weeks after the miscarriage. I'm guessing they will drop to zero this week sometime. I usually have 35 day (5 week) cycles. Now my HCG is back to a normal non pregnant level, when can I expect to ovulate? Will my cycle start from scratch now? I.e. will it be like day 1 of my cycle once HCG reaches zero? Or would I ovulate within a few days of HCG reaching zero then expect AF in 2 weeks?

We want to start TTC again ASAP but want to wait for AF first to be safe. I'm hating being in this stage of not knowing what's happening and just waiting :( I just want to be pregnant again :(

ive had 2 mc, one was over 12 years ago and the other 3 years ago, however with both of them i bleed for a few weeks.

so i found out i was expecting number 7 around 4 w 3d, on week 5 i woke with brown spotting, thinking implantation i had that for 2.5 days and then on the 3rd day i woke with red bleeding, assuming it was over.
i have had the red heavy af type bleeding for 3 days now, heavy when i wipe, but never getting on the pad until today and even then its barely really anything, its not soaking or covered, just smeared. however i lost a clot yesterday and again more today.

i took a hpt on the first day of the bleeding and it was still quite dark so i had hope.
took one today and it was barely there have to squint. when i took it it was tainted in blood as as the pee went up the stick it was tainted red.
could this have cause the test to not show correctly or am i clutching at straws?
the bleeding has slowed down so much, i think by tomorrow it will be gone.

is this right? shouldnt i bleed more and onto the pad?

im so confused right now
