2. He drinks next to no milk and has been this way from very young. He is a perfectly normal weight but I just can't believe how he just doesn't seem to get hungry. Sometimes he goes a whole day on 100ml of formula!

She wants 10 kids, some boys as well, have you had a pool party at home and was it ok? We would have at least 2 adults in the pool area supervising at all times but with 10 kids running/jumping/playing is there bound to be accidents ? Do I ask all the parents to stay and watch ( all the kids can swim) if I say no running/diving/ jumping will they be bored? What pool games/activities or any other advice you think we would need or is it too hard?

How do you manage the risk of spider bite when your little ones play outside? We finally set up our back deck for our kids to play on last weekend, but the plastic kids table (with built in chairs) seemed to be a particular spider haven. I washed it over & over again with the high pressure hose, then while it dried I watched multiple spiders emerge - I killed at least 4 in 30 minutes! I let me dd play on it the next day & on the plastic kids play thing (tunnel/slide/climbing cube) and run around on the deck in her socks and she also jumped on the trampoline in her socks.

The next day I noticed a spider bite on her ankle and it was red, swollen & painful. She'd been irritable for 24 hours and we hadn't been able to work out why - then we knew! The GP said that it was a good thing it wasn't a redback and they can kill little kids which has freaked me out!

So, how do you manage the risk of spider bite? Do you spray? Do you insist on shoes at all times? Do you just clean the toys a lot?

I'm not sure what is the best route here, but I really want to encourage outside play!

Here is my problem 85% of the time is consider myself a pretty good mother I love my daughter she's usually a very happy little 9 month old girl. My problem is that sometimes when she gets really cranky and upset I tend to only be able to take so much and then feel like ripping my hair out/ smashing something feel like the world is going to end and then within 20 mins I've calmed myself down and then just feel like crying for reacting in that way in the first place. I've never hurt my daughter but the rage that I enter makes me fearful that someday I could.

Hi!

my DH and I have a 15 month old DD and we are looking to TTC our second in a few months time.

i keep changing my mind though as I know I want two children, but I still can't decide on the best age gap, as every gap I think of has its pros and cons, so I'm looking for a book about coping with a second child to help make that decision then to help me cope once we have our second (if we are lucky enough to get pregnant again)

i want something with practical tips and advice especially managing two schedules. I also want something written by someone with two children, not just a paediatrician.

Im a do what works for you and your baby kind of mum (for the first 3 months) then I like routines after that, so I'm not so keen on something AP based.

Thanks!

I have a hypothetical I'm trying to figure out if it is worth protecting against (or even possible)...

Husband 1 and wife have 2 kids, husband passes away and down the track wife remarries. Then wife passes away. In a 'normal' will situation, Husband 1's estate passes to wife (it probably also had provision for children until they were adults - let's assume they now are). When wife remarries she may not have made a new will, or she may have made a new standard will where everything passes to her new husband. When she passes away first, her children get nothing from their father's estate or their mother's estate - it's now all gone to the 'new' husband.

Has anyone considered, or is it possible to write into a current will (or set up some other structure) to ensure that my children will get a portion of my assets after my death, even if my husband remarries? Or is it something that 'you can't control from the grave' and you just need to hope it all works out fine?

So im in a bit of a bad situation.

About 18 months ago my ex and parted ways (long and ugly story involving at least 8 different affairs on her part and lying about a sister that commited suicide and abanding our sone and then comiing back), anyway, the little man goes to school next year and I live on the other side of the city from where she lives now. We are trying to come ot a decision as to what school he goes to. We have been to mediation which failed dismally as she was blatantley refusing to negotioate about the school. She wants him to go to a school that is very close to her and is not even wanting to look at schools inbetween us (btw we have 50/50). For him to go to this school it would make it impossible for me to get him to school and for me to get to work and at the end of the day to get him home again.

I have a couple of options of which I am agonising over. I can either move closer to where the school is, in which case my partner would most likely choose to end our relationship because she is very close to her family and we live very close to them. This would mean me doing it on my own again. My son has gotten very attatched to her and she is just brilliant with him.

Another option I am considering is to change the care arrangments to have him only on the weekends and then during the school holidays.

Can anyone please throw in their cents. I want to know what people think.

I keep complaining to DH about how much bl00dy cleaning I have to do, but never seem to get past the basics of dishes/ bathroom & toilet/ vac'ing.

Things on my list I can never get done are:
- dust timber venetians
- clean skirting/ windowsils/ marks on walls
- bleach mould spots starting on some ceilings
- clean glass lourvers & sliding doors
- dust fans/ picture rails

DH suggested hiring a cleaner to do these things once in awhile. Just wondering if anyone else hires a cleaner for the little things they can never seem to get around to, if it's worth it, and how often you get them to come?
I'm really not to sure what kids are doing at that age.. Whether they are sitting up, crawling, etc. What was your kid doing at that age???

My plan is to buy lots and then not buy him any presents throughout the year, except for birthday of course. So I need present ideas for 7-19 months.
Thanks :)

We are polite, neighbourey etc. said hello out the front yesterday, little one coughed and I said 'are you alright, that sounds like a horrible cough' and mums response was, 'yeh brings home everything from daycare, building up her immune' I agree to a certain point, but I'm starting to get concerned.
He won't eat any as stand alone except for corn on the cob. He flat out refuses - then throws - any others I offer.

Taste is not the issue, he will happily eat them grated/mixed in to meals or even as puréed/soup style. Won't touch them mashed or whole though. It's almost like he has reached the age where he knows he isn't *supposed* to eat them!

I'n sick of cooking/wasting them, but don't know if disguising them every meal is a good idea either. So...should I just keep blending them, knowing he will one day grow out of this phase? Or continue wasting my time preparing them only to see them on the floor?

My ds is in Prep (he's 6) and it seems that every weekend he is invited to a party and there are 25 - 30 kids also at the party (mostly from his class). Parties go for at least 2 hours and are usually at a playcentre or big centre of some kind so the kids are busy running around for a lot of the time.

I've had to take him home early from the last 2 parties as he's had huge meltdowns with tears and hysterics. And at other parties he's just hard work with tears and the grumps needing attention from me at least a few times during the party. I'm really dreading getting more party invitations.

So, do your kids struggle with big parties at play centres & similar places? It seems that the other kids cope fine (most of them) and I personally struggle with the fact that I'm the one with the child who can't cope with a 'simple' party.

He does fine at school and from what I can tell doesn't do this at school at all and at home he does do it when he's tired, but mostly he's ok. He is shy & a perfectionist.

I am concerned I'm spending too much on DS's 3'rd birthday party. He won't be having a big party every year but this year it's going to be big - he is now that age where he loves parties. But as a SP, the cost of the party is bordering in about $700 and I tell myself that's ridiculous and the other parents will think I'm ridiculous! It's on stuff like a jumping castle, an entertainer/clown, and a few platters if food, and tables and chairs for the kids, plus party bags, balloons and cake stuff.

Im planning months ahead so am paying but by bit so it's not so bad but is it just too much??

I know the kids will love the JC and clown and while we will do much of the basic food and drinks ourselves I really do think I should order the platters on top for up to 25 kids and adults!

My 6week old DD has dreams all the time but occasionally she will have a very obviously sad or happy dream. Last week she had a very sad dream and after whimpering for awhile she dropped the bottom lip and let out a big, sad sob! Her little heart was going crazy and it took me lots of cuddles and talking quietly to her to calm her back down again.

A couple of days ago she had a very happy dream. She was smiling and gave the closest to a laugh I have heard from her.

It gets me thinking. How young to people see these reactions to dreams in other babies and what could she possibly be dreaming about with so little life experience?

I would love to hear everyone's stories and theories on this!

Question;

If Miss 11 lives with her Mum and is allowed to wander the streets durign the day and go into town with just her mates for 4 or 5 hours do you think she should be made aware of how to keep herself safe?? Hubby has a great relationship with his daughter and gave her the keep safe speech and talked to her about always having a friend with her if shes out and not wander off to the toilets alone etc etc and is now being told its inappropriate to scare her by talking sbout stranger danger things with her. To me it seem sreasonable. We cant stop the freedom she is allowed to have there so hubby just wanted to make sure she was aware of how to keep safe. Her mum is now stopping us from having her facebook password so we cant check up on her too. Shes already disappeared twice without telling anyone so us checking facebook is to help keep her safe and if we see something we'd talk to her mum about it. her mum agreed with the terms when she was allowed facebook but now has done an about face and says she doesnt have to give anyone the password especially not us. Hubby is really worried about all the lying etc miss 11 is doing and the stuff shes been writing in messages to her friends. Her friends are kids that do things like drink etc already. I know shes not supposed to have facebook at 11 but as we are in diff countries it was allowed solely to keep in touch and see our photos etc We see her every holidays and talk to her 2-4 times a week so its not like we arent part of her life.

Are we being unreasonable by hubby talking to her about safety and by expecting to have her password? Im really worried too as its only this week shes become so obsessed with having so much privacy. I know everynight this week shes been online on facebook at anytime between 10 and 11 and we think at 11 its too late and she has too much privacy and freedom :(
They have a lot going on at their house (6 kids) and her stepdad has cancer and I can totally understand wanting to keep her daughter happy but giving her this freedom isnt good is it?
Sorry for the novel. I am leaving it all up to hubby to deal with as its not my place and SD has said some very nasty things behind my back about me which to be honest shocked me as we've always gotten on well but i just wanted some different views from people not involved.
