Film Review: The Bourne Legacy
Still keeping the Bourne name and formula, The Bourne Legacy steers away from its Jason Bourne protagonist to introduce a new agent/hero, Aaron Cross (Jeremy Renner). The latest instalment begins parallel to where The Bourne Ultimatum left off, with Jason Bourne in New York City on the verge of exposing the CIA's covert special ops secrets. The CIA subsequently try to cease all black ops projects, but Cross manages to escape, sparking a new international manhunt.
The Bourne Legacy is entertaining enough, with a hint of James Bond to the dialogue and action. It is a return to the older style of action flick, with less swearing, no sex scenes, and violence that is implied rather than visceral. This makes The Bourne Legacy one of the more easy-going action flicks of the year, and one of the more accessible.
