What's on in Brisbane this weekend: 3-5 August, 2012
So close to EKKA, the weather has turned cold, but this weekend the events calendar is still piping hot:
Greazefest is on at Rocklea Showgrounds. Starting tonight at 7.30pm through to from 8pm on Sunday, the weekend is bursting with hot rods, vintage vehicles, markets, music, and piston-charged fun. Tickets start at $20pp (kids under 15 FREE with paying adult), or save yourself some dosh and buy a weekend pass.
Join the peanut gallery at Pasar Rakyat in celebration of all things Indonesian. Plenty of yummy food and eclectic market stalls should keep you warm from 4pm Saturday. Entry is FREE; the venue is the New Farm park lawn outside Brisbane Powerhouse.
The Queensland Academy for Creative Industries showcases some of our finest local talent at the 4 Walls Festival on Saturday from 2pm-10:30pm. Some amazing live bands are on the schedule, featuring some of the best emerging artists. Tickets are available from Moshtix.
Corinda is the place to be on Sunday with the inaugural AmbiFair. A great family day out for the kids features rides, entertainment, fashion, fun, music, stalls, and raffle prizes. Get down to Ambiwerra Sports Field from 10am and show your support.
Meanwhile, on the other side of town, the Pine Rivers Show is the place to be for families - primary school children enter free all weekend! The jam-packed program starts today, and promises fireworks, motorcross, rodeo action, woodchopping, displays, puppet shows, and lots, lots more. The Fantastic Farmer competition looks to be worth the price of admission alone!
Redcliffe will be cooking up a storm at What's Cooking in the Gardens? A feast of activities, workshops and special events for every palate will take place at Redcliffe Botanical Gardens from 10am Sunday.
And if you've got kids you probably won't have time for this, but if you can sneak away for a quickie, Sexpo is currently on display behind closed doors at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
Have a warm weekend!
