Rain-soaked Brisbane is looking fairly quiet this weekend, but here's a few suggestions on where to go to entertain the kids:

The circus is in town! Cirque du Soleil brings its vibrant new production of OVO to Brisbane Entertainment Centre. Said to be the most quirky, colourful, and lovable show yet, tickets start from $74, available from Ticketek.

Have a laugh at the FREE Young Blood Comedy Festival at Brisbane Powerhouse on Saturday night. Performances begin at 7.15 pm, registration on their website is essential.

Looking for something a bit more continental? South Bank will be full of joie de vivre on Saturday at the annual Brisbane French Festival. Delicious food, fabulous live entertainment, an amazing raffle, pavilions and markets will keep you busy while the kids will love the array of activities at Le Kids Corner. Festivities are scheduled all day from 9 am. More details here.

Sticking with the world theme, the Colombian National Day Festival is on at The Australian Hellenic Sports Centre, Yeronga. Activities, games, classes, dances, music and mouth-watering Colombian food will be available with the fun expected to linger until waaaay into the night. Doors open at 12pm, visit their website for more information.

Samford Show promises to be bigger and better than ever this year with hayloads of country fun on the cards. Plenty for the kids to do with a nightly fireworks display on both days (Saturday and Sunday). Overnight camping is available if you want to make a weekend of it! Admission prices are listed on their website; children under five are FREE.

The popular Albany Fair is going ahead this Sunday at All Saints School, Albany Creek, rain, hail or shine! Rides, amusements, games, live performances, and yummy homemade treats for everyone. See you at 4 Faheys Road Albany Creek.

Finally, if you want to see how the fit people live, head down to Redcliffe for the Jetty2Jetty fun run. Registration is now closed but supporters are welcome to cheer on the participants.
