It's been a while since a good period drama hit the screens, but after seeing A Royal Affair, I reckon it was worth the wait. Recounting the story of one of the most illicit affairs in Danish history, A Royal Affair is a feast for the senses. Everything about it is first class: acting, casting, direction, camerawork are all excellent, but the real praise belongs to the costume, make-up and set-design. The whole film is stunning to watch and utterly gripping. If you get the chance, go and see A Royal Affair, one of the most glorious films I have seen in a long time.
