Morning tea with the PM
On Friday my boss Hilary had morning tea with the Prime Minister.
I had morning tea with my nan ... but this isn't about me.
Hilary was invited to Kirribilli House with a handful of other woman from the parenting/internet world. Obviously it wasn't long before the hashtag #PMtea was created and tweets were being sent over tea and macaroons.
Here's a photo of Hilary and PM Julia Gillard.
So the point is that the PM and her team are listening to YOU! Yes ... the topics discussed on the Bub Hub are being heard. Turns out that posting on our forum is a good way to let Canberra know what's on our minds!
Perhaps not the threads about cat clothes and crazy in-laws ... or maybe those too!
Here's what Hilary has to say about the morning ...
"Whatever you think of the politics, I have to say that she was very pleasant - easy to chat too, very welcoming, relaxed and interested in everyone who was there," she says.
"It was more of a social gathering so I didn't get involved in talking about politics too much (and we were only there for an hour), but I did get a chance to give her a bit more info on Bub Hub and how all policy makers across all parties can work with us to get feedback from Aussie parents - and parents-to-be about what is important to them, what their issues are and what their struggles are.
So a small step in the right direction to getting your voices heard at the very highest level. Have to say, love or loathe her policies, as another human being sharing a cuppa, she was really nice."
And my nan is really nice too.
