Help Women Dress For Success
If you're like me and always looking for fun ways to give back to the community (rather than just the standard coin-in-a-jiggly-box donation), you might be interested in this wonderful fundraising organisation I just stumbled across.
They're called Dress for Success and hold a garage sale on the last Saturday of every month to raise money by collecting and selling clothing to help disadvantaged women look the business for job interviews etc, with the ultimate aim of assisting entry (or re-entry) into the workforce. They also host some fun events, like the upcoming Dress for Success Fashion Affair, where much-loved Brisbane personalities such as Liz Cantor (Seven Network), Frances Whiting (QWeekender), Georgina Lewis (Channel Ten), 4BC's Loretta Ryan, and many more will shake their moves on the catwalk in support of the wonderful Dress for Success philanthropy.
As a career mum, I love this idea, and if the thought of helping other women wasn't enough for me, then I was sold when I heard that local Brisbane designer Chiquita Searle will be showcasing her designs on the night. If you aren't already familiar with her sumptuous clothing, then take a look here. Her corporate range reminds me of a modern Chanel - just divine!
The Dress for Success Fashion Affair is on June 19 from 6pm at Summit Events Centre, Iceworks, Paddington. Tickets are only $49.50 - email terri@terricooper.com to book.
