Berries: berries contain bags of essential vitamins, such as potassium, vitamin C, flavonoids and fibre. The fibre found in berries helps you to lose weight, and it also aids digestion. Fibre found in berries is also thought to help control cholesterol and blood glucose levels in some individuals. As a bonus, berries are packed with anti-inflammatory properties and are thought to prevent some cancers. Serve them up in fruit salads or smoothies.
Raw Honey: Honey is incredibly good for you and is loaded with nutrients, such as 22 amino acids, 27 different minerals and over 5,000 live enzymes. One teaspoon per day is enough to get the benefits of this delicious ingredient. Use it to sweeten teas or dishes in the same way that you’d use sugar.
Fish Oil: Fish oil contains something known as omega-3 fatty acids – these are known as “good fats”, which are known reduce the risk of heart disease and hypertension. Fish oils are also known to improve brain function, cognitive function and memory and they can actually relieve the symptoms of arthritis in some individuals. You can take fish oil in capsule form, eat an oily fish such as salmon or tuna or try getting omega 3 in the form of a plant source from olives, walnuts or soybeans.
Sweet Potato: Sweet potato is a star superfood and packed full of fibre and potassium, it also contains vitamins A and C. The fibre in sweet potatoes will aid in your weight loss efforts as well as help with your digestion, and vitamins A and C will strengthen your immune system, helping you to be healthier.
Raw Cacao or Dark Chocolate: Cacao and dark chocolate both contain high levels of magnesium and flavonoids, and they also contain natural antidepressant properties – chocolate really can make you feel better!
