Which TV mum are you?

1. How would you best describe a family meal at your place?


a. Normal meal, at the table, with whoever is there at dinnertime

b. A white tablecloth and silverware affair. Three courses, straight from a recipe book

c. Pizza or chinese or some other takeaway. Sometimes at the table. Occassionally on the couch

d. Pork chops, pork chops, pork chops.


2. Who else lives in your house?

a. You have an open-door policy that includes fathers, mothers, grown kids, young kid, wife of grown kid, mother of wife of grown kid etc

b. Only immediate family in case any family secrets get out ...

c. Immediate family and teenage girls' boyfriends only

d. Immediate family and anyone your husband invites without asking you first.


3. How would you best describe your relationship with your kids?

a. You love your kids and you're good friends with them, but you still know when to be their mum

b. Your relationship is sometimes cold and your kids have been known to be a little bit evil.

c. You tell it like it is with your kids and they occassionally do the same back

d. You love your kids more than anything.


4. How would you best describe your sense of humour?

c. Sarcastic, loud and sometimes scathing ... but very funny

5. How would you describe your dress sense?

a. Very normal, you dress nicely and take pride in your appearance

d. Boring. It feels like you wear exactly the same thing EVERY day.


6. How far would you go to protect your children?

a. As far as you can, but you do believe there are some instances where kids have to learn for themselves

b. You'd go totally overboard. You'd cover up crimes and teenage pregnancies even.

c. You'd stand up for your kids but also let them make mistakes of their own.

d. You're extremely protective of your children. And you need to be, with a husband like yours!


7. How neat is your house?

a. It is not perfect but it is clean and homely.

8. Would you consider having children later in life?

a. You wouldn't plan it but your heart would accept any new additions

b. Only if your teenage daughter got pregnant and you had cover it up by pretending the baby was yours

c. It wouldn't be in the plan but it would be good to see if you could finally get a good one!

d. Probably not. It feels like your children will never grow up no matter how many years pass.


9. How would you describe your relationship with your husband?


a. Normal. You have your ups and downs but you are great friends and proud parents

b. Which husband? Either way it is cold and unfeeling

c. Loving, but when you fight, you really fight. A lot of screaming

d. You adore your husband even though he constantly does idiotic things and has little regard for safety.


10. What is your support network like?


a. A large extended family and heaps of support

A crazy ex-mother-in-law but good support from a small group of friends/neighbours

c. Great support from your sister and a small group of friends, which makes up for your crazy mother.

d. Not a lot of close female friends to rely on. A barely there mother and sisters who hate your husband.

    You're right! I just wrote this as a silly quiz ... not to be taken seriously but you have raised a good point. I had trouble finding recent TV mums to include (at least one that real mums could identify with). And now that I'm trying to think of a sole parent in TV I can't really think of one that would be 'representative' of single mums out there? Is there someone I'm missing? Does TV represent sole parents well?
