Feeling Festy?
You'd be forgiven for thinking that this weekend is the Festive Weekend of Festivals Festival, with so many festivals to choose from! Take a pick from:
The Ipswich Festival, which closes this weekend with a jam-packed schedule of events and activities.
The 2012 Buddha Birth Day Festival features meditations, workshops, dance, arts & crafts, talks, face-painting, and lots of, om, other stuff. The Baby Blessing Ceremony on Saturday at 11 am at South Bank Piazza sounds gorgeous!
Foodies should get along to the 18th Caxton Street Seafood and Wine Festival - at 18 years, the event is finally of age! Now that's something worth celebrating.
Or spice your weekend up at the Cinco de Mayo Mexican Festival at Kangaroo Point on Saturday from 4pm - late.
And then there's the Urban Country Music Festival in Caboolture, promising plenty of boot-scootin' fun.
But if you're not feeling festive, there's plenty of other activities on offer, including the Brisbane Model Train Show at the RNA Showgrounds. Or the free composting and worm farming family workshop on Sunday 6 May (9.30-11.30am) at Brisbane Botanical Gardens, Mt Coot-tha (bookings essential, phone 0403 935 014).
Feeling charitable? Head to Doomben to the inaugural Aussie Kidz Charity (AKC) Polo Day to help raise money for disabled and disadvantaged kids. Donation is included in the price of your ticket.
If you fancy getting out of town for the day, the Mount Mee Markets and Country Kitchen is on this Sunday. Or closer to home, Old Government House celebrates 150 years with a fun program of events for families.
Have a happy weekend!
