What’s Hot this week Mama….?
Having read a few articles this week about women dressing scantily, women having affairs and women generally taking on the world…it got me thinking. This week it’s actually the Mama’s that are Hot. Case in point – during the week I went for a morning walk with my lovely friend. We were walking and talking and sweating and laughing like teenagers. We were blissfully unaware of anyone or anything else. Then, as we walked past a building site, suddenly a cat call came up, unexpectedly - “Cawwoooo!”.
A momentary pause and then my girlfriend shrieked back - ‘Waaahooooo!!!!!”.
The builders (all at least half our age) laughed in appreciation of our appreciation. My girlfriend continued calling out “We are 84 years old combined boys!”. Huge laughs now plus an almost awkward moment of almost wetting my pants due to combining walking with split sided laughter and the unavoidable loss of control that comes from three natural births. Hoh hum.
Almost weeing in my undies aside, how nice to be suddenly reminded that we are, in fact, Hot Mamas. I am not talking beautiful, sexy, slinky babes (we were sweating in our sports bras remember…). No, I am talking about a pair of mums who had just dropped their kids at school and who were happy to be out and about exercising and enjoying ourselves.
And that’s the point. Just because you might be pregnant, or recovering from your first, second, third plus birth, or running around after toddlers to teenagers does not mean that you are no longer one Hot Chick! What you actually are now is a ‘Hot Mama’, you might even be a ‘Hot Grand Mama’. Regardless of how old you are (or let’s face it…how old you feel) you better damn well feel like you are a Hot Mama. You don’t need to get around in a negligee and high heels for the kinder run – but you do need to walk and talk like a confident, self-assured and intelligent woman. Surround yourself with people that you like and who like you. Ditch the people that drag you down (you know who they are). Back yourself. Be happy with your choices. Don’t double guess yourself. Trust. Laugh.
