"As I screamed "Mum! My waters broke on your couch!" my partner pulled up into the driveway."

"But 'Lumpy' wasn't due for another week", I thought, so I decided on the 20th to have dinner at my mum's while my partner

  2. My 52-hour labour and emergency c-section

    by , 17-07-2012 at 14:11 (Birth 101 - 101 Birth Stories and Counting ...)

"That was my first birth and a very horrible experience
    "

Most women reach their due date and just want the baby out!!

I was 8 days over and was seriously over it - but that was just the beginning of my journey.

I started having contractions while I was watching TV at home and I was able to sleep halfway through that night before going into the hospital.

When I first arrived I was having three very strong painful contractions

  3. The long-awaited arrival of Autumn Willow

    by , 31-05-2012 at 20:44 (Birth 101 - 101 Birth Stories and Counting ...)

"It wasn't until the following afternoon that I could finally hold
    our long-awaited baby properly"

At 36 weeks I was measuring 39 weeks and as bubs was my third I knew she was going to be bigger than her brothers. By now I was having weekly OB checkups, and had been having Braxton Hicks since around 20 weeks, so I wasn't too concerned when around 39 weeks they were more full on.

  4. The dream birth of Schuyler-Rae

    by , 24-05-2012 at 15:33 (Birth 101 - 101 Birth Stories and Counting ...)

"I was so proud of myself and couldn't believe it was
over and done with in 2.5 hours!"

After weeks of false alams, I was woken up by short, sharp pains. It felt like I was being ripped apart inside. I went to the toilet and noticed the tiniest bit of blood, but didn't think anything of it as it didn't happen again. Went in, woke up DP and said I didn't think he should go to work today, but after a nice hot bath decided it wasn't the real thing and said ...

  5. My unplanned homebirth ...

    by , 09-05-2012 at 09:36 (Birth 101 - 101 Birth Stories and Counting ...)

"Her birth was one amazing experience, even if a little unexpected.
    "

My EDD of the 29th March passed by. On the 30th I had a check with the midwife. I was 1-2cms dilated and about 50% effaced. She gave me a stretch and sweep, and the next day I started to lose my mucus plug.

On the 3rd, DH and I took DS for a long walk. Back at home we DTD and I napped while he headed off to work. I woke at 4pm with what felt like strong Braxton Hicks contractions,
