Things to do with kids in Brisbane

  1. Out of the Box Festival - On now!

by , 13-06-2012 at 23:50 (Things to do with kids in Brisbane)
I'm so glad that I have kids. Because I get to take them to cool stuff like the Out of the Box Festival for Children at Qpac and do loads of fun things that grown-ups aren't supposed to do. I've just spent the better part of the last two days wandering through the maze of activities that are scattered like little starbursts of adventure in and around South Bank, and I still haven't managed to see everything. There is just so much to do, and so very many ways to be inspired (and feel like a kid again). ...
  2. Only 14 more sleeps!

There's only two weeks to go until the fantasmagoric fun of this year's Out of the Box Festival begins! Have you got your tickets yet?

This year looks set to be bigger, better, brighter, and busier than ever. I can't wait for The Flying Orchestra and Bear With Me performances (I'm a sucker for teddy bears). You'd be forgiven for thinking that football had taken over the city this weekend, with the Reds, Lions, Sunsa, and Roar all playing in Brisbane. Get your orange on tomorrow and support the Roar who are looking for a back-to-back championship win - COME ARN BRIS-BAAANE! Tickets are still available.

But if you're looking for something a little more cultured (oh yes, she did!) then get yourself along to GoMA for the opening weekend of the impressive Contemporary Australia: Women art exhibition. ...
  5. Me, J, and Annie the Musical

by , 19-04-2012 at 22:50 (Things to do with kids in Brisbane)
You simply must go and see the Lyric Theatre's production of Annie. I can honestly say that I can't remember the last time I had as much fun at the theatre! And I got to enjoy it on a rare mummy-daughter night out with my vivacious little girl, J.

I have to admit, I was a little nervous about how J would cope with seeing such a magnificent stage production brought to life: she loves the film, and she has seen several other smaller stage shows, but how would she go with the two-and-a-half ...
