  1. The Origin of Nursery Rhymes

    I was singing a nursery rhyme to my baby son yesterday when I realised I didn't really know what the rhyme was about, so I looked it up. Apparently its origin is from English history and about Bloody Mary and her persecution of Protestants. The rhyme was Three Blind Mice and the interpretation of it was quite violent. This got me thinking, so I decided to look up some other rhymes and here is what I discovered. Baa Baa Black Sheep is apparently about the taxation of wool back in the middle ages ...
