  1. 11 things you should know before you breastfeed

by , 02-08-2012 at 14:30 (The Official Bub Hub Blog!)

When I was pregnant the advice I remember most was from a friend whose baby was four months old at the time.

She told me that, for her, breastfeeding was hard at the beginning. She struggled with cracked nipples and terrible mastitis but she was glad she had gotten through it and was now breastfeeding happily.

Her story armed me with two things -the knowledge that breastfeeding wasn't necessarily going to be easy and the confidence to know that even if it

  2. The 7 best electric breast pumps

by , 29-05-2012 at 15:09 (The Official Bub Hub Blog!)

I had an electric breast pump ... for one day.

In a sleep-deprived haze I failed to read the first instruction - DO NOT IMMERSE IN WATER - and I did just that after the first use. So it was "goodbye hundreds of dollars" and "hello manual breast pump" (thankfully it could be used as both!).

So I am clearly no expert on electric breast pumps. Although I am better informed than my younger brother, who (about 20 years ago) began giggling uncontrollably

  3. Breastfeeding halves risk of SIDS

by , 21-05-2012 at 09:17 (The Official Bub Hub Blog!)

SIDS and Kids has revised their safe sleeping guidelines to include a new recommendation - 'breastfeed baby if you can'.

The new recommendation is based on research that shows breastfeeding more than halves the risk of sudden and unexpected infant death.

  4. Time Magazine and THAT cover ... what do you think?

by , 11-05-2012 at 11:59 (The Official Bub Hub Blog!)

If Time Magazine's goal was to create discussion they have certainly achieved it with this month's cover.

If you haven't seen it it shows an almost-four-year-old standing on a small chair breastfeeding from his mother.

It is very staged (as are all magazine covers) and deliberately confronting in it's use of pose, eye contact and clothing (they want to sell copies after all!).

  5. The 6 Best Disposable Breast Pads

by , 25-04-2012 at 14:28 (The Official Bub Hub Blog!)

Recently my father-in-law inadvertently used one of my breast pads as a coaster. My fault really ... I shouldn't have left it on the armrest of the lounge chair.

    Awkward.

This won't happen again as I've since bought a new lounge with a chaise - no more nasty armrest to embarrass me in front of the inlaws.

Anyway he gave the aforementioned breast pad full marks for absorbency.

But here's how you rated them - the six best disposable breasts pads
