I'm a Bridesmaid!

Yay! :D
One of my very good friends asked me to be a bridesmaid today!! I'm SO EXCITED!

However I've never been a bridesmaid and have no idea how to do it. :p My wedding was very casual so I didn't have my 'maids fawning all around me and stuff... and I really don't know what I'm in for..

What can I expect?
And how can I be a good bridesmaid!! :D

I think a good bridesmaid just goes along with the brides decisions. It's her special day and you are there to support her.

I ended up having no bridal party because the two bridesmaids I chose were too demanding and wanted me to pay for absolutely everything including sessions at the solarium, their hair colours at the hairdresser and it just overwhelmed me.

Just offer help, especially with last minute things like making the church booklets and seating arrangements ect.

Hey Seek - that's wonderful!

I was bridesmaid to a very special girlfriend in November and I think it was the little things that made the difference. It was her special day so I kept that in mind leading up to it, gave advice on the arrangements when asked, helped to make the bridal shower special by doing photos and putting together a little scrapbook of the day.

I looked for things that she may have been interested in for the big day, spent a couple of days prior together, took champagne and choccies to breakfast on the day, made sure that her hubby-to-be had written her a special letter to be given to her whilst we were getting prepared, made sure that the kids were dressed, held anything that she couldn't and basically made sure that I could pre-empt what she needed at the reception so she could relax a little.

I'm sure I didn't do it perfectly but I tried. We all had such a brilliant day. It's such an honour to be someone's bridesmaid :hugs: She must really love you.

YAY Seek thats soooooo great. I've never been a bridesmaid either, it was always my dream growing up but I didn't have any aunties or cousins getting married............

As well as supporting the bride make sure you have:
Bottle water for all girls in bridal party
bottle energy drink
gum or tic tacs
bandaids
hair pins
lipstick and powder for touchups

and have a great time and dont get upset if you dont like the guy you have to dance with. I nearly had bridesmaid mutiny cos the blokes didn't want to dance.

That's the best thing, Star - MY HUSBAND IS THE BEST MAN! :laughing: Yeeehah!
And the other BM's seeing the other Groomsman - so no one has to dance with anyone they don't like :p

Just give the bride a hand with anything she needs, go along with what she says, and make sure someone organises a lovely hens night for her. lol Thats what BMs do! :D

My bridesmaids were great and just handled any dramas for me without me even knowing on my day..I found out afterwards. From stopping ppl drunk from making speeches to controlling the photographer and making sure he was taking the photos that i wanted. it made for a very relaxing day

just tell her that the dress looks fat .. if it looks fat.. tell her she looks stunning if she does !! its YOUR job to keep her a) calm, b) the centre of attention and c) looking the best she can ALL day... (which may include editing you out of every photo :p)
