I don't know how much help this would be (we are not at the actual toilet training stage yet) but I have heard that once you put the child into underpants that you shouldn't give into putting a nappy back on the child (this includes pull ups etc) as it can cause some confusion for the child etc.

I think nights are the exception of putting a nappy on.

As for the milk, if he won't drink it from a cup, I'd give up on offering it, or it would be a cup, take it or leave it.

There are other good sources of dairy, like yoghurt and cheeses, so why give in to his demands for a bottle?

im with aardvark, just dont give him the bottle, my son hates plain milk, has never had it, but loves cheese, yoghurt etc, so im not worried. if he wont have it out of a cup, tell her to just not give it to him, if he wants it enough he will end up drinking it out of a cup.
as for the nappy thing, im not much help there, as i am currently having the same problem with my 2 1/2 yr old, although i hope someone gives you some advice that i can use to, because i really dont want to still be having the same problem when he is 4 1/2! :o :)

Well my 4 1/2 yr old is nearly there, he does the odd pooh in the toilet and has just started to wee standing up. Today he did a big pooh in the toilet (sorry tmi) im so proud though, he might just be fully toilet trained by the 2nd feb when he starts kindi. Yes once you put them in jocks don't go back, i learnt the hard way though i still use pull ups at night. im not rushing that stage yet.

Well the bottle i have no info for you though i am surprised to see a 4 1/2 yr old with a bottle. My 2yr old nephew still has a bottle and it looks really weird.
sorry im not any help:rolleyes:

Hi Belinda,

See my post "will only poo in nappy" for some ideas. Our son is still a little fearful of poos on the toilet. We had some success, but he is now back to asking for a nappy. He's been trained for number 1 for over 12 months and is night trained also. One thing I haven't included in my post - If you do have some success, don't make a huge deal out of it, it may put too much pressure on the child to repeat the "performance". This may have been where we went wrong.

We've had great success with star charts for the dry night training, but very limited success with this as far as number 2s go.

Good luck
