I've just been browsing clothing and am really confused by the whole clothing sizes in Oz - does anyone know the UK equivalents? I'd be really grateful!

Yeh it is a bit confusing, I'm still trying to get my head around it myself. It's not really based on age till you get to 1 and then thats supposed to be for a 1 yr old 2 for a 2 yr old ect, but saying that different makes of clothes will either be too big or too small so it really is a matter of measuring against bubs.
But if you go on the rule of a 1 is for 1 yr old, 2 for 2 yr old ect then you should be ok.
As for the '0's 0000 is for new born, 000 for 3 months, 00 for 6 months and 0 for 9 months.....these are just approximates as if you have a big 6 month old they may need to go into a 00 rather then a 000....... Confused ?

Come on ladies who have been here longer then me....have I got it about right or am I way off the ball park :D

Are you talking about adults or childrens?

Childrens, i have no idea.
Adults from my experience seem to be the same here as in the UK. Im a 10 here and a 10 in the UK. Shoes are different though. You go 2 sizes up here, im a size 9 here and size 7 in the UK.

Childrens size - but if Londonmum is correct then I needn't worry as DD is a year old and already in 12-18 months UK size clothes.

Thanks for the tip about adults shoe sizes - that could've been a disaster waiting to happen! LOL

I found that Uk clothes/Aus clothes adult sizes are different...oh & shoe sizes too!

I found that when I moved here (not anymore) I was a UK size 8 & when buying clothes here I was about a size 6. I was even able to fit into kids clothes here. I think that its just 1 size difference. Like a UK 10 is an Australian 8 etc, but I think it may also depend on where you buy your clothes from.
