Why is MMR given at 12 months?

Hi
Does anyone know the reason why the MMR vaccination is given at 12 months and not earlier? I can't find any information about the reasoning behind it and thought someone may know or can point me in the right direction.

gawd i think they get their little bod pumped with enough in the first year!

vit k & hepB at birth

then these X 3 (2, 4and 6 months)

hep B
diptheria
tetanus
whooping cough
hib
polio
pneumococcal


maybe they think thats enough for the poor little mites?

really i dont know why its done then, id like to know why its not done later and why i cant get the MMR done one at a time....you could ring the 1800 no. and get the same "thats just how we do it" line that i got when i asked.
