Last night my 1 month old DS went to bed at 9pm after a long day of refusing to go to sleep and when i woke up this morning i had a huge shock of realising that he had slept through the whole night!!!
I'm now worried..is this normal, i would have thought it was too young for him to sleep right through??

Hi Mum-2-b
I wouldn't worry if your bubs is sleeping through. My DD is 6 weeks on Friday and has been sleeping through from about 4 weeks too. Her last feed is at about 9.15pm and she sleeps through - this morning she woke up at 6.45am!!!
As long as they're putting on weight and getting enough milk during the day, then you shouldn't have a problem :) Just enjoy the sleep! I think we're very fortunate :D

I hope the sleeping through last's for you Mum-2-b, but don't worry if it doesn't cause some bub's do it occasionally (a one off sleep through).
For me, DS1 slept through when he was a couple of months old and is still a great sleeper, DS2 however only just started sleeping through at 18mths.
If my bubs were that young and slept through and continued to, I would be one happy mumma.
My DS started sleeping through at 14 months.
My DD slept through from 9pm to 5pm from 2 months, for four weeks and has never slept through since. She's now 8 months. Still wakes up three to four times a night.

Owen was 14 weeks when he first slept through the night. It was a few nights after he moved from his bassinette to his cot. :)

Hi
Thats normal, and wonderful for you (you get more sleep). My dd has slept through since she was 2 weeks old. Im very happy with her, but I do get the occasional wake up lately, but I thinks she having a growth spurt.
Dont worry about it, unless he stops gaining weight, then he might need to be woken for a feed.
i reckon you are so lucky my daughter just started sleeping threw thr night at six months now i can get some extra sleep.

Elliot went thru a two week stage where he was sleeping thru, for btwn 7-9 hours. One night he slept for ten... He was like this especially after a 'bad' day. That stage of long sleeps has unfortunately stopped and now he wakes at least twice, and doesn't sleep much thru the day. Expect a change so u don't get your hopes up like we did!! But, remember, every baby is different! xx

#1 slept thru from 7 weeks. #2 slept thru from about 11w if I remember correctly. She's a little porky and is always hungry.
My niece is 6m old and still wakes up. She's breastfed, and feeds about every hour for about 2min. Something tells me she's not getting enough out of the milk, which explains the constant feeding. SHe wakes every 2-3 hours during the night for feeds, too.

My daughter was sleeping 10hrs at 6 weeks and before that was only waking 1 time during the night. She was sleeping 12hrs at 10 weeks we are very lucky:)
However she has now dropped to 11-11.5hrs sometimes sleeping 12 hrs at night it depends on how long she napped for during the day. By the way she is bottle feed.

Hi there,
From what I can tell its completely normal. My bub is nearly 4 months. He started sleeping through about 2.5 weeks ago. He will be in bed b/w 7.30 & 8pm and go through to 6.30.
I think if you have a set routine now for sleep at night and stick to it - they should follow through. A couple of times Connor has woken up now at about 4.30am, but I know that he can sleep to 6.30, so I go in there (I don't pick him up) I wrap him again and put his dummy back in and he self-settles till roughly 6.30. So if this keeps happening, then hopefully (fingers crossed) he will stay a good sleeper.

DS1 slept from 8ish - 5ish from about 8 weeks to 6 months from then on he slept through to 7ish and now he can sleep later plus have a morning and afternoon sleep, which is good with a newborn.
DS2, he is 11.5 weeks old and at present he wakes around 4-5am, doesn't matter what time I put him down. He has been doing this from about 5 weeks. A couple of times he has slept 10 hours, but not enough! Up until a few days ago he was awake most of the day and in the past few days he is having more day naps, yeah!
First time Katelyn slept right through was when she was about 5 weeks old. SHe doesn't do it all the time. Normally she'll wake up once during the night, and occasianlly she'll sleep all throught the night. :)

My DS started sleeping through from 7 weeks of age and continues to do so. He is now 4 1/2 months old. Like someone else mentioned earlier...stick to your day routine with regular feeds.
He has woken up once or twice around 4 months of age at about 5am....due to a growth spurt and needing another feed for the day. So for the next week or so i would add in an extra feed.
It is much nicer not being sleep deprived....just imagine how nice it would be for bubs too!
Mrs Little & Son.
My DD slept through from day one but that only lasted for about two months. I then started waking her for a roll over feed as she was gaining weight very slowly then she started waking a couple of times a night. She is going back to sleeping through now although she still gets up sometimes for a night feed. I think if they are putting on weight and sleeping through you are very lucky.
Last night my 1 month old DS went to bed at 9pm after a long day of refusing to go to sleep and when i woke up this morning i had a huge shock of realising that he had slept through the whole night!!!

Oh you lucky mummy, i hope it lasts too.
My dd didnt sleep more than 2 hours at a time until she was 10 months 2 weeks and 3 days old..
Enjoy it if you get another...

For those whose bubs sleep through from a young age, are you breastfeeding or formula feeding?
I'm BF, my DS is nearly 6 weeks and last night he slept solidly from 8pm till 1pm, which I was surprised at and happy about - if I'd known I would have spent the time more productively!!
Just wondering if "early sleepers" are possible, even common, with BF babies. I'd love it if it was! :D

My DD slept through the night from 3 weeks old. She's 6months old and only wakes up if we're too loud coming to bed (she shares our room). Even then, she goes back to sleep after a couple of seconds.
She started sleeping through the night shortly after I switched to the bottle. (I still breastfed occassionally...but she seemed to be a lot happier with the bottle than with my breast). It worked wonders for me! lol.
I'm worried about having another one though...because I've had such good luck with this one...surely my 2nd will be a horror!
For those whose bubs sleep through from a young age, are you breastfeeding or formula feeding?
Mine's being formula fed, but she doesn't sleep through all the time...maybe about a 1/3 of the time she sleeps through. Other times she wakes up once for a feed during the night.

My DS started sleeping through at 2 months old. This is while he was breast fed, he is now forumla fed and he is still sleeping through...had the odd occasion where he will wake one once during the night but any other night he is usually fed and in bed by 7.30 and sleeps through to 6.30-7am - BLISS! Fingers crossed it doesnt change anytime soon...still gotta go through the whole teething thing yet
Emily has just started sleeping through - its been a week of 11 hours through the night and I am sooo excited! She is 7 months. Woo hoo! :)

Teehee, little dude is 7 months old next weekend and I am still waiting for him to sleep through the night :D
Liv is now 11 months & has slept through 95% of the time since she was about 3 wks old. I was BF at the time but have since changed to FF & I didn't find this made any difference for her. I swear I had no idea what I was doing when we first brought her home, so I'm lucky she did.:p

Im pleased to say that my formula fed little man who is 9 weeks old has just started sleeping through from 8:30pm till 6:30am. Im sooooo proud of him!!!:p
My DD is bf and for the first 3 months/12 weeks she had two feeds/nappy change during the night and then for the next two months had one feed/nappy change at night (around 2-3 am). She did have nights where she would sleep through (being 6-8 hrs at a stretch), but it wasn't consistent, unfortunately, the extra sleep was definitely welcome by me.
At 5 months she started sleeping through (8pm-6am). It may be coincidence but she started solids at 5mths. I am certainly not advocating introducing solids early to get bubs to sleep through, as it doesn't always work anyway. There have been some days when she hasn't had solids and she still slept through - sorry I've got no advice to give, only my experience to share. Z :)
Hi
Fistrly love the piccy, bub is sooooo cute.
Ds started sleeping through at 2 1/2 months. Each bub is different. Enjoy the extra sleep.
Belinda
DS has been sleeping through since he was 2 months old. He'll go to bed about 8.30 and he'll wake up anywhere between 7.00 and 8.30. Hopefully he'll take after his dad and sleep lots :)
The other night he went down at 8.00 and woke up at 10.00 the next morning :D
