It is only wooden and only some of them (red ones mainly).......

I have found the suppliers website and an address to post back but it doesnt seem fair that we should have to pay postage??? supplier is rc2aust and website is just .com.au

they have a list of the trains there

Sorry i was looking on the wrong site:rolleyes:

Thanks for the link. It does seem a bit unfair having to pay for postage, but at least they are including a free engine!

Thomas The Tank Engines - Wooden set!

Have posted in the recalls section, my little man has 6 of these product so I will be taking them away immediately. Thought i'd better post it here too, incase people don't see it in the other section...

A massive international recall could see parents snatching away their children's favourite toys.
A range of Thomas the Tank Engine toys has been coloured with lead-based paint which could be toxic if children chewed on them.

New South Wales Fair Trading Minister, Linda Burney, said chewing on the wooded pieces could be hazardous.

"We've discovered that there is a contamination with the paint, it actually has lead in it," she told 7News.

"Extreme forms of lead poisoning can cause very serious behavioural and learning difficulties in young children."

The toy's manufacturer blew the whistle on itself even though there have been no reports of illness anywhere in the world.

Its Australian importer said the voluntary recall affects only one in 200 Thomas toys sold here.

There are about 91,000 in Australian homes.

The recall only applies to a limited range of painted wooden toys made in China.

The importers of the plastic and metal Thomas the Tank Engine range said those toys are still perfectly safe.

Retailers have been asked to clear them from shelves while purchasers will be offered a bonus engine.

My Ds has just gotten into these toys in a big way and has chewed on them! Both kids have played a lot with them. I just saw this on the news update and was about to post a thread too.

*currently panicking*

Will investigate further....
But while I am here, anyone know the recall details (product numbers and descriptions)?

ETA: Found it! Cheers! Seems to be mainly the red products. Still will look in greaterdetail.

Is it the wooden railways or the actually trains? Because DS has both, and I think that some of the trains are actually wooden...

Also, I am worried about some other toys he has now. I bought some wooden blocks from Kmart the other day and they look as if the wood is very similar to the Thomas stuff and ofcourse, they are made in China as everthing is.

Does that irk you, that everything is made in China? It irks me

Man this is scary stuff.

I have just taken the 4 out of my bub's collection that I will be couriering to that address tomorrow.

Bub will notice they have gone...both his musical James & musical caboose - they are his favs:no:

Gosh...who would have thought that harmless little Thomas the Tank Engine could actually be so hazardous to our children's health.
