View Full Version : Wheelchair cot requirement
does anyone happen to know of any shops or suppliers which my have equipment which may suit our needs. My husband is a paraplegic in a wheelchair and all the cots we have looked at have sides that are too high. Ideally a cot with sides that open outwards and swing to the side would be best. Does anyone have any ideas/contacts which my help us?
Thanks

Hi im not sure of any in Australia but will ask around as my mum is disabled & she may know of someone or the likes.
I found one site but its English http://www.cotswoldcots.co.uk/ they make theirs custom made to suit etc.
Another option would be to contact ParaQuad as they may know more about someone who makes some that are suitable for your needs.
Good luck :)
Hi Perla
My Partner is a quad and we searched and searched for a cot as you describe, but to no avail. I hope you are more successful.
What about one of those cage ones where the sides fling up? There was another post on here about them, I'll see if I can find it for you. Might be worth a look, otherwise you might have to get one custom made.
I've just done a quick search and can't find anything. They're called meat safe cots or enclosed safety cots.

A old co-worker of mine had one where the front was in 2 parts and opened out like a gate, rather than lifted. They got it because she had a bad back. I think it converts into a toddler bed later too. I will try to dig out the manufacturer for you.
