is it just during the day or is it during the nights too? braden only sleeps during the day one hour max but seems happy when awake so i figured he's fine ... lately he hasnt been sleeping well at nights due to not feeling well (cold and a bit of temperature) but before that he would sleep at least 4 hours straight at night with 4 day naps of one hour each ...

Are you using a routine at the moment???? Some babies love routine - other's hate it.

My DD is 9 months, but i've had her on the same routine for months, even before she started solids.

This is what I do:

Anytime between 5-6am she will wake for her breast feed. At 6:30-7:00am is breakfast and after that she'll have a play.

9:00-9:30 I put her down for a nap, not before giving her cuddles, wrapping her in her blanket, bonjela on the teething gums and musical mobile on. I tuck her in, kiss her and leave the room. She may stir for a minute or so, but she goes off to sleep on her own.

11:00ish wakes and will have morning tea and some water.

Play

12:00-12:30 Lunch and breast feed

play/time for mummy to go shopping, etc.

2:00-2:30 calming down time, I offer a drink and then do the bedtime routine again.

4:00ish snack - usually fruit puree or yoghurt.

5:00-5:30 dinner

Bath

6:30pm breast feed and extended cuddling/story and then the bedtime routine.

She has been waking at night lately because it's been a little cold and she's teething. Otherwise the schedule has worked for me for months.

Hope it all made sense. lol

day or night max 1 hr sleep unless hes in bed with us i wouldn't mind co-sleeping but we already have a 2yr old in bed with us!

Bubs stir every 40 minutes naturally, its part of their sleep cycle.. DD went through a stage where she would wake at the 40 - 50 minute period and I would at the start pat her back to sleep and she eventually got the idea.

Hope this helps, good luck!

With both of mine they never fed to sleep. After a feed they were always wide awake so my rountine is

6.30 - 7.00 Bottle

7.30 - 8.00 Breakfast

9.00 - 9.30 Cuddle, music, tuck into bed

11.00 - 11.30 Bottle

12.00 - 12.30 Lunch

1.30 - 2.00 Bedtime routine

3.30 - 4.00 Bottle

5.00 - 5.30 Dinner

5.30 - 6.00 Bath & Bedtime routine

8.00 - 8.30 Bottle & back to bed

This is slowly changing as she now wants to be up more.

Sam used to feed to sleep - but he's decided he doesn't like being breastfed anymore and the bottles just aren't the same ... anyway - his routine is now ...

5:30/6am Bottle

7:00 Breakfast

8:15 Take DD to school

8:30/9:00am Around 1/2 a bottle, cuddles in the rocking chair, then it's sleep time - around 1 - 11/2 hours

11:00am 1/2 a bottle and playtime (he usually doesn't want a full bottle)

12:00pm Lunch

1:00pm Bottle and cuddles in the rocking chair and sleep time - again 1 - 11/2 hours

3:00pm Pick up DD from school - then playtime

4:00pm Bottle (usually only wants 1/2)

4:30/5pm Dinner, bath and then has a little nap in the swing for 1/2 hour.

6:00pm Cuddles with Dad.

6:30/7pm Bottle, cuddles in the rocking chair and bed.

11pm Dreamfeed 1/2 a bottle.

I have been doing this for months, and he has been sleeping through and having his day times naps for most of his life! When he is awake, we do books, floor time, walks in the park, shopping, time with his brother, dad. Lots of variety to get his mind and body exercised.
I am fairly strict with this, I will wake him for his feeds, etc, as I have a 2 year old, like yourself, and need to have some order in our day to be able to get anything done!!
Hope it helps you. Feel free to pm me for anything. I know it can be a battle with a baby and a toddler!!
