Hi all
I tried looking through past posts but there were so, so, so many on this topic.
Can anyone recommend a place to buy a machine to put in metal snaps in baby clothes and nappies. The staff at Spotlight and lincraft just look at me like I am mad.
The little tool you are supposed to use with the hammer does NOT get through more than two interfaced layers of microfleece.
Happy to buy online or local in ACT or Queanbeyan.

I use a snap press from snaps australia. Theyre high quality plastic snaps tho. They come in 2 different sizes one is for clothes or thinner fabric the larger ones are for nappies or thicker layer of fabric

I also have this snap press was the best investment i have made since my sewing machine. Makes making a napy easier. Lots of fun to use too. Delivery from snaps aus was quick and the service was great.

I got a snap press from snaps australia, I think you can do metal with theirs, just check thier web site. If you want plastic snaps, you can borrow my press.
There's a special die set to get for the snap press to use with metal snaps. I think the snaps themselves are different to the ones that you do with the hammer though.

I bought the metal snap + hammer option from Spotlight, thinking I could get away with this cheaper option (although the snaps are more expensive this way), but then relented and bought the snaps australia press with plastic snaps. (and yes the die sets for the metal snaps work differently to the plastic snaps) Very happy with the snap press, constantly finding new things to put snaps on... made peg bags, nappy bags, cushion covers... so much fun!

Ok, doing a google for "snaps australia", so hope I will be making my own nappies real soon. I have tried velcro but unless I wash them alone they get fluffy **** on them. Will let you know how it goes or HoopDee Doo? May turn up on your doorstep.
Thanks all

NO WAY SNAPS DO NOT COST THIS MUCH
WOW , I just checked how much "snaps Australia" charge for snaps! The machine- Ok I can afford that, but if every time I make a nappy or home sewn garment I have to pay $30 for snaps- it is not a budget option.
However, I know a lot of mums make their nappies and clothes this way so I must have misunderstood the final price, can anyone help me out here???
Can you buy the snaps machine then get the snap kits somewhere else? I kind of had dreams of making cheap overalls and tracky daks ,but most of all- nappies with snaps all along the inside legs- this way it will cost me over $30 for the studs alone?? This is so so wrong- I must have misunderstood- who can advise me?
You surely don't pay $30 for each nappy studs alone?? How does this work?
ok , see they have a nappy pack for like $25. You choose 6 colours. I got that when i got my snap press. I have made soooo many nappies and i still havent used them all! I would have made close to about 60 nappies sofar out of that $25 pack

I use alot of snaps :p I have made so many nappies that i have seriously lost count... I still have about 3 nappies worth out of my first nappy pack snaps. About 9 nappies worth of sockets let out of my mini bulk buy, and i have just bought some more... You get alot for that price :D

Nope I read the snaps Australia site wrong, so don't be put off anyone. The die bits cost $30, not the snaps themselves. So with a one off payment for machine and die, snapd are only about $5.00 for 100- much more the price I was thinking of. Hey, now I am gonna order and put snaps on everything:D
