OK, I am finally game enough to put DS into a night nappy, only thing is i have to make one first. I have knitted him some longies so am thinking a fitted is the way to go.

So far i have only made AIO day time nappies which are working really well.

So my question is how many layers. I have not had the privilege of seeing a BBB or BBH, actually the only (commercial) MCN i have is a BG AIO everything else i have made.

I am thinking of using bamboo fleece and maybe some microfibre if anyone recommends it. How many layers? I was thinking maybe 3 full body bamboo and 2 snap in boosters of 3 layers bamboo each. Will that be enough?

DS isn't a really big wetter, well, i don't think so in a sposie at night.

Also possibly another really stupid Q but if your bub wakes at night time, teething or unwell do you change them because they are awake. I wouldn't normally. When they wake in the morning do you give milk first then change or change then milk. At the moment we get up, h ave milk, mill around a little and DS doesn't get a bum change until i get him dressed which might be 30 or 40 mins after waking. I am guessing that will change with cloth at night???

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. I might sound a bit dense, but i am blonde:)

We change the second the boys wake up, or while they are drinking thier milk.

I probably wouldn't put 3 layers in the body, unless you use a drier.

For Noah's night nappies I did one cotton print, 1 full body of bamboo with another layer in the wet zone, one full body lining of microfleece or sherpa, then a 3 layer bamboo big snap in topped with microfleece, and a skinny 2 layer snap in.
So a total 7 layers bamboo. I could prob put in a couple more, but as long as I change asap in the morning it's fine

I did 2 body layers bamboo then a snap in booster of 6 layers bamboo (3 in one and 3 in the other joined at the top) then a lay in smaller booster of 2 layers.
so 10 layers all up

So you dont need microfibre in a night nappy? Do you put it in your daytime nappies.

Hmm, so many options!
I am not too worried about drying time because where i live it gets really HOT! Even winter days are sunny with breeze and rarly below 23.

Love the pic of your night nap Hoop. That Pooh print is sooo cute.

So somewhere between 7 and 10 layers is about right. Well that's good at least i was on the right track. I am sure i will be holding my breath on its first use!

Zada what sort of drying time are you looking at with 2 full body layers?

Lillipilli - I normally use microfibre in my day nappies as it helps get the moisture away really quick and makes absorption into the bamboo a little more even so i get a little more time out of a day nap. I guess in the night they don't need that even absorption because it is all absorbable in a fitted.

well we live in veryyyy cold town lol. i usually hang them inside its not near the heater tho and 2 days max theyre dry. I reckon in nice warm places just during the day they would be dry

Thanks Zada. I think i would be safe with 3 full body layers then. Max drying time i reckon would be 24 hours then based on your info and we are much warmer hear.

Will get sewing over the weekend if i have enough bamboo fleece left. Hmm, another order to place i think.

OK, well made the nappy and ran out of bamboo.

It ended up being 2 full body layers of bamboo with 2 snap in boosters of 2 layers bamboo and 1 layer microfibre then a smaller lay in booster of the same construction.

I was not planning on using the microfibre at all when i started cutting out but soon found that the bamboo was all gone and i was not confident i had enough layers. We will see how it goes anyway.

I prewashed the bamboo 3 times before construction and have washed it again but will wait for at least 10 washes before trying it out overnight.

I do pocket nappies either windpro fleece (waterproof) or PUL, two microfibre boosters, (they are 3 layrs each) and a thick bamboo prefold.
Works fantaticaly.

All the peices dry seperatly
