Well the dude and I just got back from his 6 month CHN visit and he has gone from the 10th to the 3rd percentile :(

The nurse suggested I give him lots of "calorie rich" first foods.

Does anyone know some suitable calorie rich first foods? I only know chockie and I am not sure how to puree that ;)

After my first son was born the health nurse suggested (for weight gain) that I mash banana and avocado (not sure what age it was...so long ago!)
It's high in calories and he absolutely loved it (and just quietly...so did I:p )
I do remember something being said about good fat and bad fat and apparently the avocado has the good fat.

325 calories in a medium avocado
105 calories in a medium banana

Hope this helps

I just had a thought - instead of calorie rich solids--- could you give him a high calorie milk based drink??? I dont know what is on the market... just thought it might be an easier option???

After meeting you the other night, I am not surprised that your bubba is little!! You are so little and cute yourself:D Try not to worry too much, I am sure he is totally perfect in every way. Poeple are all different shapes and sizes - so are babies:) Millar has never even been on the charts (except when he was first born) and he is totally fine, just small:D

I agree that avocado is a great calorie rich food.

Hey thanks Katie, that makes me feel a lot better.

It seems like every time I go to the CHN or doctor they make me feel worried that little dude is little...

The rest of the time I am perfectly happy, the dude is happy, has a little bit of chub, sleeps well and plays well.

But then I get home from the CHN and I tried to give him an extra feed and upset his little routine and therefore upset him.

She said that there could be a "hidden" problem - but surely I would see if something were wrong wouldn't I? I mean if he were sick there would be signs wouldn't there?

Arggggggggggh! I just won't go anymore!

Veve I will bring the dude along to our next play, tee hee, then everyone can get a good look at my little dude and give me their opinion!
