I was just reading That's Life magazine. In it was a small letter written to the mag it read like this:
I was out one day when I found a children's book about animals propped against a wall. I picked it up to see if there was a name or address inside, and found a note reading, I am a free book. Take me home and read me, then please set me free by leaving me somewhere another child can find me. What a great way to share a book.
I thought that was such a nice idea. I am going to buy a book this weekend and set it free:yes:

I set two books free the other day. One at the bus stop and one in the local shopping centre.
Did anyone else do the same?

Was it a Bookcrossing book? It's a really fun movement -- you go to their web-site and you can watch books move all over the world and people journal where they've picked them up etc.. It's great!

There is a book shop here that does this, it was in the local paper, each week she sets a book free with a similiar note inside it.
Great idea

Hey this was featured on Oprah. Can't remember what she called it, but it wasn't children's books, it was adult books. People were leaving them in random places with notes on them.

I found the Bookcrossing site now AlliJB so no need to send me the link.
I am going to set free tomorrow Kaz Cooke's 'Up the Duff' at a Parents Room.
Anyone care to share the books they are setting free and what type of places they are leaving them??

Oops, sorry. Just sent it! That's my life at the moment -- not a step behind, but about 5km! I released a few books ages ago under my name -- seealliread. One person even journalled, which I was very excited about! I'm an author and LOVE reading what people say about my books (v. revealing when they don't know you're reading!). There's 145 doing the rounds at the moment, so I pick up some pretty good feedback! :D

Hi i have heard of this done b4 yrs ago and someone added a piece of paper with the kids names and addresses on it so ppl knew where it had been and found out it even went overseas and back again. the lady who had done it left her name and it got sent back to her and she was amazed how much it was loved. i think its a gr8 idea. but there will be some1 to spoil it. but the thought of it being enjoyed even by 1 child is a good thing. let us know how u go. :hugs:
