Hey Ladies

Just a question..

At what Age do You Start making the Cot Bedding Up Like a Normal bed??

Like Instead Of Making so Their Feet Will Touch the bottom Of the Cot..

Cheers In advance Ladies :D

I have never bothered. I only put a bottom sheet down. My kids wont stay under the covers. I just rug them up in nice warm clothes. I wish my 3 year old would stay under the covers

Good Q though, I guess when they are tall enough?

I think once they start moving around you can make the cot up like a normal bed . .since they are gonna move from wherever you put them anyways.. Matilda ends up all sorts of ways .

I havn't bothered either. My DD was like PoshBecks , never stayed covered. DD2 looks like she is going to be the same.

DD1 is now 3 and in a big bed and only in the last couple of months, she has started keeping covers on her at night (some nights anyway  )

Another one who doesn't bother. I rug them up in warm jarmies and grobags (Ariene has a growbag still anyway) and if they get out from under other bedding, then it doesn't really matter.

Ariene's in a cot, Ronan's in a bed, but they both only have fitted sheets underneath, then a warm doona with a cover that's easy to whip off and wash when needed.

Another not botherer here.

Warm clothes, sleeping bag, loose doona

I didnt bother either... DD hates blankets so just used to cover her when she was asleep or put a sleeping bag on her

DD rarely stays under the covers, but I still make the cot up so that her feet are close to the bottom. She's 18mths old.
DS moved to a bed at about 18mths, he wriggled alot in his sleep often ending up upside down, so I short sheeted the bed to stop him getting tangled under the covers. I stopped doing that when he grew too tall...can't remember how old he was tho.

I gave DS a pillow, a very thin one, when he was about 2yrs old. DD wont be getting one til she stops sleeping one her tummy with her face against the mattress, so who knows how old she will be.

This is from the Sids website...

22. At what age can I introduce cot bumpers
and pillows?

Soft, puffy bedding such as pillows quilts duvets
and bumpers increase the risk of sudden
unexpected infant death. They may cover the
baby’s face and obstruct breathing or cause
overheating. Older babies in a cot can be at an
increased risk of a sleeping accident by using
pillows and bumpers as a step to climb up and
fall out of the cot. It is safer to wait until the child
starts to sleep in a bed before introducing a
pillow or puffy bedding.
