Hi all

Oliver is nearly 18mths old and has been vomiting quite frequently. It started about 1 month ago, and it started off being about 0nce or twice a day. Starts from coughing then he cant stop. Sometimes the coughing is started intentionally ( attention seeking maybe) and we always try and distract him. Sometimes this works but most of the time you just cant stop the coughing which within 30 secs turns to vomiting up everything in his stomache. For the last 2 weeks or so he has been vomiting on averge 3 times a day.

I've just about had enough of it. Ive taken him to our GP who has told me to monitor him for another month and provided theres no great deal of weight loss bring him back then. Im not sure if i can wait and watch him vomit all he has eaten each day for a month. Apparantly they can outgrow this.

Any thoughts or suggestions are greately needed.

Anna

Does the coughing stop after he has vomited?
My DD(5) gets asthma and over the last few weeks she would cough so much she would vomit and even after she vomited the coughing would continue. her is always in her sleep and if we get to it early with ventolin we avoid the vomit
It is very common the excessive coughing to cause kids to vomit, so I guess what you need to work out is what is causing the coughing. could it be a cold, asthma, reflux, post nasel drip etc.

Good luck It is a horrible thing to watch your child cough so much they vomit. Hopefully you get to the bottom of it soon

beth was doing that. she had been sick and would cough and cough until she chucked. a course of antibiotics fixed the vomiting within a few days.
