Hubby and I were looking at Carseats yesterday and saw this one. It's very cheap in comparison to the others ($150) and goes from Newborn - 18kg. I wanted to know if saving money would comprimise on safety is all. :)

As long as it has stated and stickers on it that say it complies with Australain standards it will be fine. Just check to make sure. $150 is a bargain compared to some of the other prices, they're a joke!

Hmm. I'm thinking of going back, inspecting it properly and putting it on lay-buy..

We have one in each of our cars. In the cheap car we have the seat your looking at. Its not bad, the only problem is it is smaller, meaning that it looks like MJ is going to outgrow it very soon  She's just too tall :p

So IMO if your tall, your better off spending more, or just wait till there is a sale. Thats how we got the good seat :D

I bought a Fisher Price car seat 5 years ago for $300, still using it. Just bought a Go Safe for our other car and have no probs, actually can't tell the difference at all other than the FP head piece flip bit.
HTH Seekrit.
Cheers Jen

No, no, no, no!!!
The GoSafes say up to 18kg but really your child gets to 10kg and is too tall for it. You have to be really careful.;)
We had one on loan (lucky we hadn't paid for it) and now we have brought a BabyLove convertible and it is heaps better! It was $199 from memory for the convertible one we've got.
Good luck!:)

we have a go-safe and so far so good (bub is 8kg now and 6 months old)... although happy lady has scared me... i guess it depends on the size/shape of bub, but i have been very happy with it and glad of the bargain.

You might have a different model to me Jonesso or the newer models might be better these days :o but O is as small as they come (17months 9.5kg and very, very short have no idea his height), he's been on the bottom line forever.
Everything about them is great, besides the fact that they get too tall for them.
Hope yours is different.:)

I dont know much about the car seat that your asking about but i just wanted to let you know if your interested there is a baby shop in brisbane that sells at almost wholesale prices im not sure if i can mention them by name but if you would like the name then PM me. The only thing to beware of is they dont laybuy but thats only because of his pricing. We got the turn a tot car seat from him for $330 it usually sells for about $400-450 at most other stores. He has a heap of different brands and the start from about $150 but he has safe and sound ones starting from $200 for the basic ones. I really wanted the turn a tot one when i first saw it but wasnt willing to pay $450 for it then we were looking for the change table and popped into his store and got both for $500 which made me happy as well as DH as we saved about $150.

If you want the name of the store then just pm me and i will give it to you you will be amazed by his prices.:D

I have just bought a Gosafe seat, my babe is 9kg. We hired a capsule for 6 months for $90 which was so great as could lift him in and out whilst still asleep. The Go safe make are Australian designed but made in China, they meet all Australian regulations. The downside that I could see is that for a new born they don't have much padding, compared to the safe and sound brands.

Consider a capsule they are so useful when moving around, I know of mums who don't have one who would have a dilemma when wanting to hop out the car to go to a shop and the baby was asleep, wake them up, leave in car...I would never ever leave my babe in a car, even in a petrol station, a capsule made that easy!

I'd buy the Go Safe for now for $150 then invest in a Safe n Sound Maxi Rider when he outgrows it, that lasts from 6 months to 7 years! Mind you they are $400+ but worth it.

Hi,
I would seriously recommend hiring a baby capsule from the Qld Ambulance for the first 6 months. Ours has been fantastic.

I have to give it back next month so I'm on the lookout for carseat bargains!

I'm with tubbychook, I got a turnatot seat and they are great. when bub gets bigger you don't have to take the seat out to reposition it for the upright seating, you just press the lever and turn it and when getting bub in and out you can turn the seat half a turn so it's facing you and no twisting down into the car. A must if having back problems or concerned for the longterm wellbeing of your back. I have to add too that I only paid about 330 or so and that was from a retailer, if tubbychook bought hers around the same time I did they were cheaper because there was a new model coming. Sometimes we need to be careful of what looks like a bargain, some places will mark up the price of an item to make it seem like a huge saving, like the jewellers that were outed on the news. But all the same it was still less than the original selling price even if the original price was grossly inflated, what can ya do???

I personally do not recommend GO SAFE/IGC/mothers Choice etc...

I highly recommend Safe n Sound seats as they have a much better reputation and have been around for so many years.

I have heard of too many people buying the cheaper ones such as go safe etc only having to buy another one once their Babe gets too tall for the go safe etc... Especially when these bubs are aged under 2yrs of age.
A friend of mine her lil man was 12mths old and was too tall for his IGC seat.

Go for a Safe n Sound as they have a higher back and are much better all round.
Yes they are a bit dearer but a worth it in the long run.
I have tried most seats on the market and always go back to Safe n Sound.

I have a GoSafe...no problems with it, but bub's isn't even 4months old yet and it probably only around 4.5kg at the most....plus she's not very tall....gonna be a shortarse like her mum. :p The GoSafe one is smaller than other ones out there, but if you've got a small car then the bigger ones won't fit.

I have a Go-Safe reversible car seat my mil bought it when i was pg with my dd 4 1/2 yrs ago and when i had my ds we bought her another car seat and he used this one. I don't have any problems with it at all my ds is 2 1/2 yrs and he is still in it and he weighs 12 kgs and is average height and i don't think it is any smaleer than my dd car seat he fits in it just fine. I think buy they Go-Safe one if you need to buy another later you can but personally i haven't needed to buy another except for the fact that i needed 2. :)
