Welcome on board Shajake ...
We are going through IVF/ICSI at Melb IVF and Dr Tasltas is looking after me . We have seen him once ;he is a very nice Man. What I strongly recommend you is to go on the IVF website and read about it so you can be familiar with the vocabulary ( he is going pretty fast in his explanations ... so it's good to have an idea ... ) : http://www.mivf.com.au/home.asp .
The first appointment is a lot of information given to you ... it takes a while to " diggest " the whole thing ... but then , when it comes to meet the nurse and the councellor , I had the time to ask them the questions that was in my mind after the appointment with the Doctor ... Does it sound confusing or is it kind of clear !!! ? . Anyway , that was my experience and I hope it will help you . Take care and let us know about this first appoitement ...

Beatrice...thanks for the reply. Who's your obstetrician? We've had a lot of preliminary testing done so how long does it take to start treatment...I'm sick of waiting...It's driving me insane.
Jackie...I have looked him up on the web but I'm interested in whether people have had him and what he's like.
This whole issue is rather daunting and I, like everyone else, am anxious about how things work...How it will effect me, my husband and my beautiful boy (who will be 3 in May). The people around me...etc etc.

Hi Shajake.
Dr Jim Tsaltas is looking after us at Melb IVF.
We had our first appointment with him on the 29 of Nov 2005 and we had to have blood test after that ...
I decided to have one month off before starting anything ( my Parents where coming from France for holyday ).
Jim told us that WE were the one to decide when to start .
I took the appointment with the nurse and the councelor on the third of Jan ( I took the 2 appointments the same day .. done and over with ).
I had to wait the first day of my period to call them ( which happend the 9th of Jan ). I called them that day and started my pill 5 days later ....
I thought I had to wait MONTHS before starting the treatment but it was MUCH quicker ... The longest time for me was to wait for my periods ... I could not do anything before ...
I personaly think that IVF is doing the " job " for me and I rely on them ... I just do what they want me to do ... We have been trying for a long time and I was getting tired of been in control of my body to fall pregnant ... It's a relief for me to think that someone is taking control ... so I just go with the flow at the moment and I find myself MUCH MORE RELAXED since I know that the treatment does not depend on me ( kind of ! ...
I also choose not to tell a lot of people about it because I don't really want to answer their questions all the time ... Only my Family in France and very close freinds here in Melbourne know about it ...
I just started the cycle so I'm still very positive about it ... I just hope I will stay positive as long as I can ...
Hope I helped you ...
