Has anyone changed their obstetrician before? Was it difficult to do? We had our first appointment with ours today and we're not feeling 100% sure about her. A friend has told me about hers who sounds fantastic and am thinking of changing.

Cheers!!

Hi - I didn't have to change oby's but would have to say - being your first bub and all - you need to be very comfortable with the person looking after you and your progressing bundle of joy!! :)

It is much easier to ask questions, seek advice etc etc if you feel confortable with your oby. I would think there would be no harm in checking out another if you are not 100% sure;)

You have to be 100% comforatable with your OB... You still have enough time to change OBs... I was lucky to have an OB that I liked but we went into meeting him for the first time with the thoughts that if we both didn't like him, we would look for someone else...

Good luck

It's not too late to change OB's. Where are you based and who are you currently seeing?

Thanks. I am based in Parkdale in Melbourne and have been referred to Dr Christine Thavathasan. I have now heard of a Dr Campbell who is supposed to be very good. Am just concerned now 'cos I'm about to have all my tests done and they will be sent to her. I guess I can get them redirected. I might just phone Dr Campbell's rooms tomorrow anyway and see what the go is with changing over.

You're the boss :) And you need to feel comfortable with someone who is hopefully going to support you through one of the most amazing times in your life. So going with your gut feeling is essential!

This is a great list of questions to ask a potential careprovider. :)

I changed Obst,
Just make sure that your chosen one has the ability to fit you in before you sever ties with the one you have seen. If they can don't worry make an appointment your doctor can ring the lab and they will send all the information throu the fax. A phone call to your old one explaining that you are changing is probley the best thing to do.

I've never done it before as my OB was bloody brilliant all throughout my pregnancy, she even contacted me on weekend just to make sure that all AOK.

It shouldnt be difficult thing to do even at the latest date, my bro is an OB and he often had many patients went to see him instead because they werent happy with their old OBs, all they need to do was signing a paper to transfer the info etc to the new doc, easy as that!

Good luck in finding the perfect OB!

Hi Everyone

Thanks heaps for all your advice. Unfortunately however we had our first scan this week and discovered that there was no longer a heart beat. I have had the usual procedure at the hospital today and am still trying to get my head around it all. It's been a real shock to us both. My husband has been quite teary where as I feel quite numb. Anyway, not an experience I would like to go through again, that's for sure. Thanks again to you all for all your help and support and for answering all my silly questions. Good luck with everything.
