Hi All,

Just got back from the Dr's from giving bubs his 4 mth immunisation and after weighing him said that he hadn't put on any weight since a fortnight ago when I took him for a check up at the local clinic. Two weeks ago, he weighed 6kgs (without any clothes on) and today he weighed the same - with clothes on! I'm a little worried as he has actually been having an extra bottle lately (total of 5 a day now) as he was getting hungrier. What does this mean? Has this happened to anybody else? Should I be worried?

Take him back to the first scales and weigh him there, you may find that there is a difference in the two scales. If he is drinkning well and having sufficeint wet nappies (at least 6 disposables a day) then don't be worried. I used to always try to weigh Em on the same scales, usually at my local chemist.

Emysmum is right. There can be significant differences between 2 scales. And even if you use the same scale each time sometimes it will be in error on one occassion - somebody may have bumped it so that it's not level, or it didn't re-zero correctly. If bub has a nearly full bladder one time and an empty one the next that might also contribute to differences.

Try not to worry about lack of weight gain, or at that age even a small drop (say 100-200g) over a few weeks. As has been said, if they are happy and having lots of wet nappies they should be fine.
