Hi there,
There are a few other threads in this forum relating to this which I used to choose an Obtetrician and Hospital.
My Obs is Douglas Keeping and I am having my bub at the Mater Mothers Private Hospital. Dr Keeping only delivers at the Mater, so that kind of made it easier for me to decide which hospital. I also only live 2 mins form the Mater so it is easy for me, and I find the fact that it has a really good childrens.neonatal hospital attached to it quite reassuring. I have heard mixed reviews on the Mater and the Wesley. The Wesley hospital is smaller and could maybe be a bit more personal I dont know. BTW Dr Keeping is really nice and I would recommend him as an obtetrician. His rooms are on Wickham terrace in Spring Hill
Hope this helps

Thank you very much for suggestion.
I have heard that if you have to have caesarean section, with some doctors, you will have limited choice of the delivery date. Is this true ?

Hi,
I am not too sure when it comes to C-sections. I guess you have chosen to go for an elective C-section, then the Obstetrician would work out a date a few weeks before your EDD to perform the operation. So I imagine that there would be some flexibility around the dates though although, I dont imagine you can chenge your mind about the dates as an obstetrician also sees other patients and has to book other people in around the times given to you if that makes any sense. If it is an emergency c-secton then it would be carried out as needed.
I know that not all doctors like to carry out elective C-sections without a medical reason - not suggesting that you dont have a medical reason, but I know some doctors have different policies to others which is something else that might need looking into depending on your circumstance

I had our daughter with Dr Keeping 14mths ago and found him wonderful. He is very calm and relaxed which I found really helps (being our first child). I found the mater also very good and all the midwives speak very highly of Dr Keeping. Also if you are with MBF he doesn't charge any more then the schueduled fee.
Hope this helps

I agree, when I got my referral from the doctor she said - ooh DR Keeping ... he is lovely and known as one of the best obs in Brisbane in Dr's circles - very reassuring. I have found him to be very calm and his staff are lovely too! The waiting list is long, I booked in with him when I was only 13DPO!! And still waited till I was 10 weeks to get an appointment, he is very popular

I have checked with Dr.Keeping schedule and can make appointment in the next 6 weeks !!
My wife is about 8 weeks pregnant so I think it is a bit too long.
Considering we choose the mater hospital, is there any suggestions re other obstetricians ?
Thanks

I dont think 6 weeks would really be too long, especially as they dont normally see mums until around 12 weeks but it is up to you. You could book into there and see a GP in the meantime for a referral for an ultrasound etc. I havent got my second appointment with Dr Keeping until I am 15 weeks, and my first appointment was very short and didnt consist of much, he said he would go through more at the second appointment.
I have also heard that Dr Kilvert is good too

amnaja...It's not too late to ring and make an appointment...They will tell you when you ring whether or not he is taking new patients.
If you've chosen the Mater hospital, perhaps if you give them a call and ask for the list of obstetricians that deliver there, you can then ring around and make an appointment.
I hope this helps.

Dr Josephine Cheung or Dr Fiona Dalzell @ Mater Private are awesome. Lovely ladies, very calming even in a crisis!

Hi there,
:)
I had all my four children at the Wesley and found them to be brilliant. My last child was born last September and I had Dr Graham Tronc for my OBGYN. I found him great, really helpful, great listener, just a wonderful doctor all round. He has his office at the Wesley
Best of luck with whom ever you decide to go with..:babydust2:

Hi everyone, I have an appointment with Dr. Keeping in a month. I just wanted to see from you how is he during consultation? Is he a good listener? Does he want to know about you? or is he one of those rush types, 5 minutes consultations?
Thanks!
