hi all - currently feeling very scared. Have been bleeding tonight and now not sure if I should go to hospital or not. It started after BDing (not rough but not especially gentle either, SORRY -TMI) and is bright red and bleeding rather than spotting. Seems to have slowed down (1 hr later) and is not heavy and no cramps or anything, but it is SO scary - have not had any bleeding or even spotting this pregnancy.
Any advice or thoughts? Anyone else had this?
might pay to ring up the hospy chicky
although it is normal to bleed sometimes after BDing, it still pays to get it checked out, sometimes our cervix just bleeds cause it was irritated,
:fingerscrossed: its nothing

Thanks guys -
I waited an hour and then went to the hospital, as it didn't seem to be stopping. They admitted me to the delivery ward (apparently this is common if you have bleeding after 20 weeks) and then had to wait a couple of hours but eventually seen by a lovely ob who did an internal exam, and then a proper ultrasound. She said it was my cervix that was bleeding, and this was quite common after BDing in second/thrid trimester as it's more sensitive than normal. She said I was bleeding more than was common, but my cervix is very eroded (which I knew) which was why it was happening, and that it would stop pretty soon. Wonderful to see little bubs all well and happy inside me with heart beating normally and plenty of fluid etc.
I felt like an overreacter, but they couldn't have been nicer and said I didn exactly the right thing, as it could have been serious. Which was comforting.
Gosh - this baby making stuff is STRESSFUL! BUt all is well.

oh glad all was alright, its better to be safe than sorry,
I had a friend that always bled after BDing, in the later stages,

Kate, I had exactly the same thing happen at 21 weeks. I wasn't sure whether to worry or not, so called the hospital and they said I should come in. I had been pretty calm until then, at which point I started to cry, I got so worried. :crying: Anyway, it turned out all was fine - just a bit embarrassing! :o OB said it is quite common though after 20 weeks. The hospital was so great. They didn't make me feel silly, and I didn't even have to wait at all!
As we left, I had phoned my mum to let her know that we were going in to the hospital because of some bleeding. Afterwards we reported back that everything was fine. Ever since though, she has been coming up with all these theories as to the cause of the bleeding, but I'm too embarrassed to tell her the real reason! Silly, I know. As DH said, it's not like people don't know how we got preggers to start with!! :D

Thanks all - all good now. Bit nervous about BDing though I must say - we have been too scared to try again. Am I just supposed to just deal with the bleeding if it happens again?
Eggall - LOL, I have been the same not telling people exactly why!

I was a bit nervous about BDing again too, but haven't had any recurrence. Seems like it was just a once off, hopefully if would be the same for you. :fingerscrossed: :fingerscrossed:
