hi,
I recently got results back from my gyno's office that I did ovulate (yippie!) and that it was a "21". Which is apparently a bit low according to the receptionist. I'm not on clomid or anything yet.
I'm hopefully going to get hold of the gyno this week.
But can anyone tell me what a good level is? Should I be a 30? what is the range? I am assuming its a reading of the LH in my system or whatever its called.
thankyou!!!!!

hey,
just a quick question but it won't answer your question so sorry. What test did you have from your doctor's to tell you that you did O and what part of your cycle did you have it done?. i am interested myself?
Wendy
Last month while taking clomid i had to have a routine cycle day 21 blood test which measured my progesterone levels mine were 28 which showed positive for ovulation the levels can vary quite a bit though anyone can go to there doctors and ask for a cycle day 21 blood test

I took clomid for 2 cycles and on the second cycle fell pregnant. Both cycles I had the 21 day blood test and they both came back at 23.For memory you need at least 20 to be ovulating.

Wendy I had a blood test that the gyno wrote out a form for me to get done at pathology. And it was on day 21 of my cycle. Apparently it tests for the week leading up to day 21 and you generally ovulate between days 10 and 19 depending on the length of your cycle. The first day of your period is day 1.
Kirsty it is very interesting that you say your levels were 23 and you still fell pregnant. I got hold of my gyno last night and he said at 21 I'm ovulating but not enough to fall pregnant and may need assistance. I do have PCOS so maybe thats why he thinks I need meds.
Krystal how long have you been taking clomid?
btw, if anyone is curious, my gyno said "50" is a good score!

Yep thats exactly what my gyno said that '50' was a really good level.Thats why I was so upset when he told me that it was only 23!But a week later I found out I was pregnant.I think as long as its above 20 then you have a chance of getting pregnant.I was worried early on that my progesterone levels wouldn't be high enough to 'be' pregnant for to long without having a m/c, but obviously they were fine. Edited to add:I also have PCOS and before clomid my progesterone level was only 2!I think if I can and could get pregnant with only 23 then you could with 21.

I know low progesterone levels are what cause most m/c's but I'm unsure of what they consider to be really low.I have been on a few different websites before where women have said their progesterone level was like 10(and they were 6 wks pregnant!) and then they m/c not long after. You have to keep in mind though that Progesterone levels do increase quite rapidly in the first tri and very rapidly from day to day. WHen my Ob/gyno told me that my progesterone levels were only 23(from a day 21 blood test as I was on clomid)(keep in mind that I Ovulated on day 17 so I was only 4 days pregnant!) he was not at all concerned with me m/c'ing at all.He was quite sure that they would build up and increase more everyday.I never had a problem with my pregnancy.
I wish you loads of luck.......
