All started just before midnight on Saturday 2nd June. I finally got comfortable in bed and just started to get to sleep when i got a pain in my belly. Followed by a sharper pain then a pop feeling. My waters had broken! I quickly jumped out of bed and over the carpet and stood in the hallway on the floor boards so it was easy to clean up!!! Then i proceeded to wake Stephen up. He had no idea what i was going on about and telling me he didn't want a drink of water LOL!! I went and stood in the shower whilst Stephen rung mum and told her to get organised and come over. Rung the hospital and they said to head up soon. So waited for mum to arrive, got a few things organised. By this stage still wasn't having contractions. Just before we left started to get a few pains. We left for the hospital at around about 12.40am, Sunday 3rd June.

We got to the hospital (a whole 2 mins away!) and contractions were approx 5 - 7 mins apart. Had to go to A & E then taken up to maternity. By the time we got up to maternity the contractions had intensified and were about 2 mins apart. Midwife gave me an internal and found that i was 3 cm dilated. I was impressed considering i had only been in labour for about an hour, as with previous labour it took me 8 hrs to dilate an extra 2 cms. Bub at that stage was in a good position but not engaged.

Was taken through to birthing room at this stage. Was hooked up to the monitors cause of it being VBAC. Was offered gas but this made me vomit after just one go at it. I then asked for pethadine as the contractions were getting unbearable. That did nothing either apart from make me light headed and very very thirsty. I waited about an hour then asked for the epidural. I am certain things weren't this intense with Ethan as i lasted 8 hours without anything, now just 3 - 4 hours in i'm asking for everything! Midwife did another internal and was approx 7 cms dilated. Felt really bad as i farted as she was doing internal, but now find hiliraous!!! I couldn't help it! I got the epidural but did take a while as i have slight scolious (sp??) and anethisist (sp?) couldn't find the right spot. His big head guy was called in and he gave it to me.

At around about 4.15 am told middy that i was feeling alot of pressure. Was checked again and yep fully dilated. But bub has turned posterier. So felt like she was trying to enter the world via my hip. At around 5am middy was going to get the doc to check me as i didn't feel like i was getting anywhere with pushing and couldn't feel bub moving down at all, just inside my hip. Was agony. Doc come in confirmed she wasn't moving down with contractions or me pushing at that by this stage my pelvis was quite swollen.

6am signed the paper work to be taken up for emergency caeser. Was a little disappointed but knew it couldn't be helped. Told the doc that i didn't care if i needed the caeser just take me now! But once i got down to theatre epidural had started to wear off and my left side was no longer numb. They told me that if they couldn't get it numb that they would have to put me under. I pleaded with them not to put me under. They eventually got me numb thank god.

So at 6.46am on Sunday 3rd June 2007 Dakota Clair entered the world weighing 8 pound 6 ounces, 51 cms long and with a head circumference of 35cms. Just happy that we both are safe and sound. Ethan is very proud to be a big brother and loves his little sister to bits!! See if he still feels the same in a couple of years time LOL!!!
