View Full Version : Vomiting?
Hi, both my DD's are bottlefed, DD1 never vomited, DD2 doesn't stop! She brings up her wind alright - both ends real bad! She vomits quite a bit - the curdled milk vomit, not spit up, about 4 times a day now.
My GP said she should be right cos she is putting on weight, but i hate seeing her like that. She gets really irritable, then bluurrghh! All over mum! lol.
Just wondering if i should try the AR formula? Do you think that will help? She is 2 weeks tomorrow.
Thanks.

Sounds like my nephew !!!!!
He had reflux but was known as "the fat happy chucker" in that the reflux never affected him he piled on weight was a real fatty hehhe he never cried about vomitting etc so the doctors never worried just saying he would grow out of it which he did. She tried different formulas with no luck so just put him back on normal as the soy isnt really a good option unless absolutely neccessary.
It was just horrible for those first 6mths where he would vomit all the time so he always smelt like it & so did his clothes & his mums !!!! My sister would often cry as they would be all dressed for a special occasion or the like & he would vomit over both of them !!!
In the end we would all steer clear of him if we were dressed to go out hehehe.
So i would take her to the doctors if i were you just to get things checked out but i would say if bubs isnt worried then it may not even be worth changing formula as this may only create more dramas !
Good luck :D
Mel if I was you I would keep a very close eye on your bub. There is a condition called pyloric stenosis which is where the muscle at the bottem of the stomach closes and no longer allows milk to pass through. This condition becomes apparent at about 3 weeks. My DS had this and at first we thought he just had reflux but after he had lost weight we went to the Dr had an U/S and Pyloric Stenosis was diagnosed. Some of the main symptoms to look for are weight loss and projectile vomiting (DS would throw up about 15min after his feed in one masive lot)
Sorry I hope I havent scared you but most people ( like me) had never heard of this condition and apparently it is not that uncommon. Just keep an eye on you bub and if she does have any weight loss or she seam to be getting worse I would take her straight back to the Dr.
Good luck

Hi
DD1 had that problem. brought up wind fine and 5 minutes later, milk was everywhere. I changed her formula and i found that worked great. So maybe try that?

My son, nickname VC - vomit child, is now 7 months old, has been BF until 6 months and he vomits constantly! Going on to formula made no difference, solid food is not making much difference either! It is exhausting and yes distressing but my babe is also a happy chucker and for the first few months very very slowly gained weight, however since solids he has taken off and is quite the little buddha!
I too have cried as we are all set to go to weddings, christenings, parties, out for the night etc etc and have to make several changes. Fear of going to other peoples houses, others holding him etc etc. And a long flight to UK...yuk! Now summer is here the smell is bad and he has such bad rashes and redness in the folds of his neck! If you don't have them yet go and buy a pack of value cloth nappies to use as vomit rags!
If your babe (who is extremely cute btw!) is distressed when vomitting then see a doctor, if it's projectile see a doc...but if gaining weight and seems happy just mention it when you see ECHnurse or paediatrician/GP for 6 week check...good luck!
