Anyone doing medical transcription work from home? Anyone using Ozescribe or paid to do their course through Ozetrainer? It's pricey at over $3000 ($3300 or $3800) and I'm just wondering if it's worth it and whether you get any work out of the course. Is there another alternative??
Thanks for your comments!

Look at local TAFES or colleges, should have something similiar to a medical terminology course and I think about a quarter the price you were quoted. Not sure how you gain work but they would know that also I imagine.

Thanks PunkyDiva
Did that... best I can find is Medical Terminology and Reception courses... and they suggest you find work in a Medical Centre or similar. Not having much luck with other typing from home opportunities.
Anyone else have any ideas???

I looked into doing this about 12 months ago. A decent medical terminology course will teach you how to set out report (there is a standard format). It's getting the work that put me off starting my own business, for starters most specialists have secretaries who just type up reports in between patients or there are several specials in a practice and they just share the cost of a typist who also does other practice stuff.
A lot of hospitals now are sending their voice transcripts to India because it is really cheap to get them typed up over there so there is a big chunk of the market going off shore.
I'm not sure I would want to be spending that much money on a course that may or may not get you much work.
