Hi everyone,
I'm just looking for some advice or reassurace on what's going on when my daughter is sleeping.
I have a tommee tippee monitor which monitors her movements and breathing. Over the past few days, the alarm has been going off more than twice a day during her naps.
After doing my olympic sprint to her room from wherever I am in the house, I touch her to make sure things are ok, and she lets out a huge gasp like she'd been holding her breath.
The monitor sounds if it hasn't detected her movement for 20sec, so i'm guessing by the time I get in there it could be up to 20-30sec she hadn't been breathing for. Should I be concerened?

I've checked the placement of the pads under her mattress and they haven't slipped out of position and I tuck her in well so she's not rolling to the other end of the cot and not being detected properly.

Should I speak to a health professional about this or am I overeacting?

Thanks in advance!

Leonie

The key point is you mentioned she lets out a gasp when you check on her.

I'd definatly get it checked out ASAP with medical staff.

You are NOT overreacting.

:fingerscrossed: everything turns out OK.

Is their a sensitivity dial? I know on a certain brand i had once that if u set it to really sensitive it would sometimes go off unessesarily.

I know it's gone off before when she rolled to the other end of the cot ontop of her blankets, but the thing i'm worried about it the gasp she's been letting out, like she has been holding her breath or forgotten to breath, not sure.
I'm wondering if it could be some sort of sleep apnea. My mother and a few uncles have breathing issues when they sleep and snore light freight trains, lol.

i'll book her in to the docs first thing monday just to be sure.

even though some of the under the matress moniters are not that acurate would still sy that she may be having Apneas especialy seen as she gasps when you touch her as this would mean she has been holing her breath, i would get her checked out ASAP even if its just for them to admit her for a few nights and hook her up to an apnea moniter

Hi Leonie!

Yep Im with everyone else here, even if it is nothing and perhaps maybe the monitor is super sensitive I still think its something worth getting checked out.

Hope Krystal is ok:hugs:

Talk soon,

Leanne
