Hi everyone
I was wondering if someone could help me, I had to stop feeding my baby for about 1 1/2 days and only expressed about 3 times during that time. Does anyone know will this have affected my milk supply already? If it has dropped off will it build up again? I would really like to keep feeding but don't want a hungry baby.
Thanks

Hi there,
Are you stil breastfeeding now? It is quite possible that your supply dropped off, but the more you feed now, the quicker your supply will build back up again. A good book to read is "The natural way to better breastfeeding" by Francesca Naish (I am not sure that this is the correct title but she only has one book on breastfeeding).

Hi Tracey
Thanks for your reply. I am still breastfeeding but my little boy is still unsettled, I'm just not sure if he's hungry or if it's because he has a cold. I've tried offering formula after a feed but he won't take it and I'm not sure if this is just because he doesn't like the taste. I don't feel as full but I could just be a bit paranoid. I guess I will have to keep an eye on his nappies for the next few days.

Hi Peta
I gave up on breastfeeding for a week and then went back to it. Lots of my milk had dried up, but I kept on feeding lots and lots and expressing as often as I remembered and I have now built it back up again. It still probably could do with a little boost as at night time he gets extra hungry and sometims I don't have enough, but otherwise its fine.
Keep an eye on nappies, and use a pump if you can and express as often as you can when you're not feeding. Nipple stimulation means more milk!!
Goodluck!!
