Hi my name is Alison. My son Todd is four years old and he has a severe hearing loss. We communicate using Auslan even though I am hearing. His signing vocab is about 700 words. I am also working on his speech. We just moved to Brisbane from Mackay would love to chat to other parents with Deaf children whether they sign or not.

Hi Alison,
My nameis Emma........although I do not have a deaf son I do have a special needs son and we are just starting to learn sign language with him as per our Speech Therapists instructions. I just find it absolutely amazing that your 4 year old baby has a signing vocabulary of 700 words. You must be so proud! I also too am from Brisbane and I went to a wonderful Primary School - Stafford State School that had a Hearing Impaired Unit within the school. It was a wonderful learning and growing experience having the Hearing Impaired Unit within our school community. Anyway....just wanted to let you know we are here if you want to talk. Take Care.
Emma:)
