I dont have any advice, but I will share my feelings from the last time we moved home to Oz. We came home and we were so unorganized and for some reason I felt that we were rushed to become normal again and we didn't really ease into it. We rushed into buying a house and moving in and getting back to work. In hindsight I think we would have been better off taking 6 months to regain our footing. There were other things that were probably rushed to. It seemed like we were erasing the experience completely. I didn't like the feeling at all.

I am in Australia at the moment (2 weeks of uni and visiting family) and it has been so hectic. Today is the first day in nearly a month that I have not had to do something. People have already asked if we are coming home for Christmas!

Please share your experience when you return to Australia, i am interested in the jouney.

Where will you be moving to?
Good luck.

noahsmum - we're in hanoi, vietnam

carolyn - thanks for that. i have a feeling we'll be the same way especially as i'm due to return to work at the start of august. i think after a few weeks of catching the train into the city in the cold, the whole vietnam experience will just be a memory and i don't want that to happen. we're going back to melbourne. how much loner have you got in africa?

We dont know how much longer we will be in Africa for. At this stage I have to go back to work on the 30th of April next year. DH might stay until the following Christmas. It depends, at the moment we are enjoying our african experience and the ability to travel a lot.

We are playing it by ear, we have plenty more years before DS has to start school.

the ability to do more travelling is definitely one of the perks of the ex pat life. i've done more travelling in the past 2 years than i've ever done. we're going back to melb for at least 2 years (due to dp's new work contract) and then we will probably consider living o/s again.
