Hey all

I am interested in getting my mum to make a sling for me (I cant sew to save my life...hehehe)

I just googled and found heaps....but I just want recommendations.
I have a 10.5 month old and I would love to find something that is comfortable and I can wear her on my back/hip.

anyone?:fingerscrossed:
thanks!

Mum and I made a pouch sling a while ago, like the jazzslings you see on ebay. Not sure of we stuffed up the measurements or what hapened but it ended up too small :(
It was pretty easy to make tho, but unless you get fabric really cheap then it costs pretty much the same to make yourself or buy.
I was going to make a ring sling after the pouch didn't work out, but it's 8mths on and I still don't have one...now I'm wondering if it's even worth buying/making one.

I have made hug a bub style and the pouch style too. Both are great!
You do need to get measurements right with the pouch tho.... it can take a bit of fidling and practice.

I have made Hug a Bub style and an over the shoulder sling.

basically, the over the shoulder one, is a piece of material about 70cm by 150cm it is then tied in a reef knot (double knot) the knot is placed in front of my shoulder (but above my breast) bub sits in there quite happily

i made my own from a poplin i think it's called. i should get around to hemming the edges!! lol i have read that a...maybe fleece (?) may not need hemming because it will roll ??
i bought 4.5M and cut it lengthways in two. $29 worth of material for 2 slings.
i can try to explain how to tie (baby on front) if you want - let me know - there are heaps of ways to do it if you surf around though.

Good Luck

Thanks girls....got my sister and mum to make one yesterday. cost less than $5 plus their time.
Just a simple ring sling...but its great.
Eve loves it...usually she would be upset while i prepare dinner...hanging onto my leg. Last night she loved being able to see everything.

oh did you make sure the rings were ones meant for baby carrying? normal craft rings aren't strong enough to be safe..
