Just wondering gals, when you stopped actually physically burping your bubs? I can't remember when i stopped doing it for Mac. And Charlee seems to be getting to the stage where she hardly ever burps after a feed (while I'm patting her back that is). I'm wondering if i should just stop? Oh, she's just over 5 months old now....

ocnce they can sit up you will find they will start to burp themselves, don't stop till they can burp themselves. My dr said usually around 6mnths (for eg colicy babies start to calm down around that age as they can bring up the wind themselves my dr said)
hope this helps

I stoppped a few months ago, not sure quite how many. But Andrew hardly ever needing burping as such. Nowadays he just pops them out now and then of his own accord, usually just after i stand up after a feed.

I'm very grateful that he has never needed burping, and that he has never chucked up on me :)

Yeah, sometimes she'll burp as soon as i sit her up (she's bottle fed), and other times she'll do it an hour later.....she never gets wind pains or anything but i'll keep doing it for now anyhow, thanks guys.....

I stopped burping lucas at 8 weeks because he never burped for me he'd just do it himself.

My daughter was a windy baby and i stopped burping her at about 9 months old. The only reason this went on for soo long is because i wanted her to burp before falling asleep so she didn't wake up with wind pains.

Hi Shannon

If Jasmine falls asleep with a bottle I will still burp her before putting her down.

She has always been a really windy baby and I find she sleeps longer if i do it.

I stopped around 3 months. Chanel couldn't sit up by herself (obviously), but she'd no longer burp when I tried to burp her. After about 10 mins I'd give up without a burp...so I just stopped after a week or so. She occassionally burps...but she doesn't get stroppy if she needs to have a burp but doesn't straight away. Just like a normal person, she does it in her own time.
