Last night DD woke up crying about an hour after I put her down. I thought it was her teeth so I gave her some panadol and bonjella, gave her a cuddle and put her back down and she fell asleep.
At about 11.30 she woke up screaming, not crying, screaming. I picked her up and she was fine immediately. When I went to put her down she screamed again. I tried another couple of times and she screamed as soon as I went near the cot. I ended up sleeping with her in my arms on the spare bed. Any idea what could have caused this? The only thing I can think of is bad dreams... :(
It must have been the night for disruption cause gg was exactly the same....I put her down and around 11:00 she woke up screaming....so i picked her up and gave her a cuddle and as soon as i put her down she screamed again. So i thought i'd just put her in bed with me and as soon as i lied down the screaming started again....This went on and on until just after 1am when after panadol, bonjella, infants friend i just tried warm water and she did a burp and that was it.....so it could have been gas? cause thats what i'm assuming was wrong with gg. She's never done that before and never had problems with gas before.
It could also be teething but usually it doesnt just settle with you lying down with bub.....It could also just be a one off bad night where she just wanted cuddles :) Hope she's all better this morning.

I find that my little one does it when he is teething ( he's 13 months old now ) or when he has been a bit constipated. I have also read that from around 10 months of age babies can dream and be woken up frightened... But honestly there could be a number of reasons. I still find that he wakes screaming the most while teething though. Hope that helps you:)

It could it be that she is cold? Maybe picking her up and cuddling her warmed her so she stopped crying. Gee I'm going to sound dumb if it isn't!!!:)

Well the day hasn't been much better than the night. I know she is teething - I can see one tooth just popping through now and the gum on the other side is swollen. But if she is immediately okay when I pick her up, surely the cause of her screaming is not her teeth.
She has woken up screaming from both day time sleeps today - she only slept 40 mins this morning and an hour this afternoon. She's playing now and is absolutely fine. So, it's a fear of being in the cot for some reason. I just don't know why. Will probably head to the doc tomorrow to rule out ear infections but if it was that, surely me picking her up wouldn't have made much difference. I've noticed a bit of separation anxiety lately. It might be linked to that.

i was going to suggest an ear infection. maybe picking her up eased the pressure in the ear? we had something similar tuesday night and i think it was a stomach ache. not much we could do about it. i think going to the docs is a good idea, just make sure.
