Well I know I'm one of few at the moment. Sebastian is now 26 hrs old and coming to life. Only problem is its 12:50am, in which I've finally got him to go down (though not sure if he is asleep) and now I'm wide awake. I guess I should be good and try and get some sleep while hes content.

Oops! I'm here, I just didn't realise that this thread was here!!!

Things have been going swimmingly here atm. I haven't had the baby blues yet and we're heading into day 6 now. Owen is feeding like a trooper and I haven't had the sore cracked nipples like I did with the other two. My milk is in and have had some lumps, but he's gotten them out pretty well by feeding.

I'm a little worried that he might have a bit of reflux because he's done a few little spews after a feed, but I am not too sure if it's because he's still getting used to the milk and drinking too much. I guess I will have to ask my CHN.

Owen is asleep on my chest as I type(bit hard to see the keys coz the laptop is on my lap lol). I try to duck onto BH when I have a few moments, and that's not all that often.

ow are you other June mummies doing?

Hey Starlet, I fully understand the not having time to post. Its really funny I normally just have enough time to catch up but just before I try to post myself one of the boys always needs me.

Sebastian is doing great also. I just can't get over how easy (compared to last time) this first week has been. No baby blues (just got a little teary when DH had to go back to work last Tuesday) not problem with feeding. I remember with Damian that it took almost a week before I felt any relief from feeding. Sebastian drained me the second day after my milk came in and has been feeding 2 and half to 3 hourly since. Hes just amazing so quite, the only thing I'm having trouble with is getting up twice a night :p

I'm really happy now though and even though my mum is leaving Monday morning and I'm going to be on my own I'm pretty sure I can deal with it. Damian has been great hes always asking to hold Sebastian and giving him kisses and cuddles. This probably sounds silly but I feel proud of him and myself for how I've handled things with him and still giving him as much time as possible.

I hope everyone else is getting on well not too tired or rushed off their feet.

Aww that's great hun! :) I'm so glad things are going so well.

I'm amazed too at how easy it's been this time around. I am sort of dreading DP going back to work because he is away for 2 weeks and home for 1. So I wonder how I will go trying to get 3 kids ready and DS1 to kindy in time in the mornings lmfao. He is still home for another 5 weeks, so I will panic when the time gets closer LOL.

We took the kids to the Zoo yesterday and bub barely stirred, I guess he liked the bouncing around in the pram lol. I was buggered from the walking though, but really want to start walking more to get rid of this excess weight!

I'm having trouble getting up twice a night too, but I have bubs cot up against the bed without the dropside so I have quick and easy access to him. He likes to be awake at this time of night though! Little bugger LOL.

How are you feeling yourself? I feel so great but my pelvis and lower back are still pretty sore, My pelvis makes a pop noise at night when I roll over ugh.

I really am surprised at how good I'm feeling. Bubs will be 2 wks old this wednesday evening but even the day after having him I felt really good. My hips are fine though they have stretched  almost none of my old cloths fit me and I haven't put on weight! Secretly hopping they will go back a little but I'm not sure if your hips go back.:p Never had this problem with DS1, oh well guess I'll just have to go shopping :D

Sebastian's cot is right by my side of the bed but the whole having to wake up and sit up is the killer. He woke 3 times last night, 12am just after 3am and then 5am. At the moment hes sleeping in my lap as hes having his normally 2-3 hours of being unsettled. With any luck he'll be good for the rest of the day. He really is a good baby though, and yes I am his mum but I just can't get over how beautifully he is :o Hes also already putting on weight I can see it in his face scary how fast they grow.

Only complaint I have is the irritation from the pads (sorry if TMI.) With DS1 I had the same thing though he was born in August so for us its already very hot (thought it could have been because of the heat) and I bleed for a few weeks because of the birth. But now I have pretty much stopped 4 days after the birth just a little every now and then so still have to wear something. Its just getting rather sore is this a normal thing or am I just unlucky?

Starlet
18-06-2007, 20:40
I haven't had any irritation, but it's only been a week for me, so I will let u know after another week LOL. My bleeding has been pretty light this time around thank goodness.

We took Owen to visit my old workplace today, he had everyone clucking over him lol, it was great. Every single person that we see can't get over how much hair he has!

I have been out everyday since he was born, I really need to stop and have a day bumming around at home, but there is just so much to do!

The last two days I've just been taking it slow myself trying to work out a routine for the boys. With my mum being here we I was doing a lot more than I probably would have after having a baby. Its so nice just to relax and have some really lazy days. Although I'm very proud of myself today I managed to get a bit of house work done.

I took Sebastian into DH's work last Thursday after his first doctors check up (he's in perfect health and gaining weight. :D) It was so sweet seeing him play the proud Dad and show him off to all the girls in his office. It was rather funny as they were all asking about our eldest and why he wasn't with me (I had left him at home with my mum as it was his nap time.) I promised them all I'd bring them both back in this Thursday.

Me I just feel like I'm getting more tired every day but at the same time I still feel great. I really can't explain it I'm just on a high, still got some over active hormones every now and then but most of the time every things perfect.

Hi peeps, just found this thread

Well, my little one is a week old now, although it seems like ages ago I was giving birth!

I have a lot of bleeding still, wish it would go away, and still pain from my stitches although this morning it doesnt seem so bad - so fingers crossed might be on the road to recovery.

Katie is such a good baby, happy and content, just a few whinges in the night but now we've worked out she was getting cold and wouldnt settle and sorted it she's much happier.

I am bottle feeding, she wouldnt take to the breast and I was getting in such a state - I just burst into tears when DH turned up to visit on Friday and he told the midwives that's it, she's bottle feeding! Didnt stop one of them having a go at me at 6am the next morning though about it - I was so glad to come home and away from all the pressure and guilt. As soon as she started with the formula Katie was so much happier, and is on 90ml every 3 1/2 to 4 hrs now.

All in all I feel pretty good really, DH has been getting up the last two nights so I can get a decent night's sleep and it's made all the difference. He is back to work tomorrow, it's been nice having him home.

Anyway, hope you are both OK today? :)

Welcome Holly! Glad to hear things are going great!!

Owen had his hearing test today(we left hospital before they came to do it) and he passed in both ears! Woohoo!!

He has also put on a massive 360g in 5 days. Not bad for a booby baby! lol. So now he is back over his birth weight again :)

Holly, I can't believe a middie had a go at you for not breastfeeding. Far out! It's taken me until baby number 3 to get this breastfeeding thing down!!

2inblue, my DP is like that too, we took bub to his mums work to show him off there lol.

Anyway, I'm gonna have a flat out couple of days, have a rent inspection on Friday and we've kinda let the house get a little messy lol.

20-06-2007, 20:46
I can't believe how fast these last two weeks have gone. Sebastian (or bastian as Damian calls him) will be two weeks old in just over an hour. Hes already filling out in his face but his little body is still skinny and frog like.:p For his size he was quite long.

Its great that things are going well your end Holly and I wouldn't worry about those midwives. What ever is best for you is the most important thing. Katie needs a happy healthy mummy and they have no right belittling you. The only advise I would have for you would be, when or if you ever have another if you ever feel you want to give B/F'ing another try go for it.

HollyHotLips
21-06-2007, 11:43
Yep, I will definitely give it a go again next time (if there is a next time!) but wont let them pressure me or make me feel guilty.

Have our health visitor coming for the first time tomorrow so will be interesting to see how much weight Katie has put on in the last week.

DH goes back to work tomorrow (I persuaded him to have another day off today :) ) It's been lovely having him here, still, only one day and it's the weekend! :smiliedance:

Well I had the child and health nurse come an visit today. I was quite surprised that his head circumference has grown by 1cm in just a week. Not to mention hes put on 480g in his second week, I was really shocked (but very happy) as Damian's largest gain had been 300g in a week. Its nice to see the insane feeding he does during the day is doing some good.

Its Friday tomorrow and I'm so tired, no matter how hard I try to get to bed early something always comes up. On top of that the weather is shocking at the moment it hasn't gone over 12 degrees today and I live in central QLD!!! Damians getting very cranky not being able to go out because its either to cold or raining non stop. Also after a week of staying home and playing with him I tend to get a little bored myself.

I just can't wait till Friday afternoon and I must sound crazy but I'm really looking forward to doing the shopping on Saturday as I haven't been out since last Thursday. I didn't end up going to DH work today as he called saying that he was too busy and with the rain I didn't want to take Sebastian out in it. All I can say is thank god for ABC kids shows :o

Starlet I was also wondering how your DP's little girl was taking to Owen?

Starlet
21-06-2007, 16:51
Hey!

Been busy busy busy cleaning ugh. Got a rent inspection tomorrow! I really hate it lol.

DP's daughter has seen Owen briefly when he was a few days old, she is coming to stay for a few days from Saturday, so it will be interesting to see how it goes. My ex dropped around just before(in another new car grrrr! He can't pay me child support but he can buy another car, wtf?!) and said he would have our boys overnight on Saturday, so it'll be a bit easier getting DSD adjusted. I don't think she quite understands it yet.

OMG what a night  for some reason Sebastian just didn't want to sleep and then when I finally got him to sleep it only lasted and hour or so. He just wanted to feed all night I don't understand it hes too young to be having a growth spurt isn't he??? On top of that Damian woke up at 2am crying don't know why, luckly Sebastian was asleep at the time so I was able to go and see to him. Didn't last long though 5 mins later he was awake again wanting another feed.

Well Damian made me run off to get him a drink and one thing led to another and it took me 30mins before I could get back. My mind is a complete blank and I have no idea what I was going to say. Oh well if I remember and have the time I'll come back later. Hope you are both well and not having any problems.

Starlet
22-06-2007, 11:49
Aww *hugs* I hate it when you get a rough night. Do you think he is getting enough milk? Or maybe he IS having a little growth spurt? Or comfort sucking? Argh! I wish they could tell us these things!

I think my baby blues finally hit last night and I was in tears over nothing most of the night. Feel ok today though, just tired :(

2inBlue
22-06-2007, 12:16
I just don't get it myself really but the fact that hes put on so much weight shows that he is getting enough. I really don't know if hes hungry or not but its the only thing that will comfort him and because he will have a full feed (or as much as I have left at the time) I try to use it as a last resort. I know this is what they are like when they have growth spurts but hes just over 2wks old surly its way to early for that.

On top of that Damian has a bit of a bowl problem and every so often it really hurts him to pass his motions (he is currently on laxatives with his next outpatient appointment in just under 2wks.) He just had to pick today to have one of his bad days so I'm so over changing him and Sebastian and both of them being really whingy. The weather is still **** so I can't do anything with them and I haven't even had time for a shower! I had to put the washing over my shower as I'm almost out of bibs (because of Sebastian's pigging out he spits up a lot.) This is the first time I've had to myself today but I can't risk having a shower in case one of them cracks up. All I'm thinking about is that its only 3 and half hours till DH gets home, with any luck he can get off a little earlier.

Starlet I have to say I don't really know that much about baby blues but I was under the impresstion that the 'Baby Blues' was in the first week. I Know what you're talking about though I'm finding myself to still be rather hormonal. With the tiredness and that fact that you still have a family and house to run no wonder it builds up every now and then. I've said to DH that this weekend if he could do as much as possible with the boys just so I can get a rest. Sadly I know that its not likely to happen but because Damian is to much of a mummies boy and its just easier if i do things the way I like them. All I keep telling myself today is that no matter how hard today is or how much I cry at least if not tomorrow things will be better in a few days and I would have mostly forgotten about today.

YAY Niki! U and ur beautiful twinnies are in the June thread with us!! hehe. How is everything going?!

2inblue, I dunno, I remember with both kids I was weepy on day 2 and alot of that was due to being stuck in hospital and getting no sleep. But because I came home the same day that I had him, I never really got weepy. I'm ok now though, just a bad day I guess.

The weather is horrible, so much rain and I have a bucket full of pooey cloth nappies that need to go out on the line! I suppose I will have to pop them in the dryer, ugh.

I am now back to pre preg weight and size(I am surprise how quick my belly went back to shape actually!), but my boobs are so huge, I don't look in proportion lmfao. I am still overweight tho, so hopefully I can get a bit more weight off.

2inblue, I hope today is better than yesterday. Big *hugs* to you sweetie!!

Oh and I was so annoyed yesterday, after cleaning like a mad woman for the rent inspection, the silly woman never turned up! This is the second time she has done that(and DP even rang her at lunch time to check she was coming!).

2inBlue
23-06-2007, 15:34
Your more than welcome Niki we need all the mummies in here we can get :D

Yeah as for yesterday it was better after 12pm at least I knew the end was in sight. Its starting to get to me that Sebastian is waking three times a night though. Damian only ever did twice a night and he was 600g bigger when we was born. I'm going to talk to the Child and family health nurse when she comes next week about his eating habits. As far as the "Boobies" go sadly they are like the rest of me quite small and because Sebastian is such a booby piglet they didn't end up staying a nice size for long  The things we do to our bodies for the ones we love :p

Hmmm as far as pre preggy weight I'm pretty sure I'm under. I haven't weighed myself but I lost a lot to start with being sick and then I was only 6kg more when I gave birth. Sadly not the same with my stomach is not, thanks to Damian yet again. He did a lot of damage when he was born and then with Sebastian (even thought it was nearly three years later.) I have a physio appointment in a few weeks to fix my muscles.

Also with the being teary in hospital I was the same with Damian they kept me in for 4 days for no reason really. I cried almost every day because all I wanted to do was go home. In the end they let me go because they thought I'd leave anyway. That was the main reason for getting out as soon as I could this time around. That and I didn't want to be away from Damian for too long.

Anyway I hope every one is having a good weekend regardless of that the weather is like.

Hi Guys,
I found you! I saw that Starlet had mentioned this thread to someone. I was wondering what would happen to the old threads once we had our babies. Anyway. It's 3am. Xavier is halfway through his feeding. Just brought him into the study where the change table is to get all that done. Just waiting for him to finish doing a poop! Lovely huh? Thought I'd quickly say hi. Hope everyone is going well. I haven't had a chance to read this thread yet but will soon. Take care. Hope there's nobody else up at this time to be reading this! Jo

Hi Jo! Glad u made it over here :)

I don't even get outta bed when bub wakes up lol. He is in his cot without the dropside next to me, so I just feed him lying down in bed and then sit up and change him at the end of the bed lol. He was up at 12 and then 4 and then not until almost 9am, so we get a nice sleep in this morning as DP and I are usually up way earlier than that because of my boys, but they were at their dads last night!

Hi Mums and Bubs!
Its great to catch up with all you news and hear about how well you are all travelling with your new bubbas.
Life is certainly different with a newborn in the family. My DD has taken very well to her new litle sister and loves her to bits buts shes also become very cuddly and affectionate which is unusual for her (but lovely at the same time). A few times when I have been feeding Eli I have had DD1 climbing all over me at the same time and demanding attention which can be a bit challenging.
Elis has been a bit unsettled with tummy pains (I think  ) in the last few nights and has been awake past 2am so I hope she settles down again soon because she was sleeping really well at night and with DD1 up at 7am I am really missing my sleep.
I hope you are all recovering well from birth and look forward to following this thread.

hi girls

I had a good nights sleep last night as dh looked after the babies until 3am. We have to wake them every 3hours for a feed because they are small and need to gain weight. We have a midwife from the hospital visiting us everyday until Sophie hits 2.5kgs, we did have a really nice one but yesterday we got this horrible lady who kept on critising everything about the babies i felt like such a failure, i hope its not her coming today, the annoying part is they say they will come any where between 9 and 5 and we are stuck at home everyday.

i am not anywhere near pre-pregnancy size i still have about 10kg to go but im being very upbeat about it as i have lost 15kgs since the birth woohoo, ill give myself a few week then try some easy exervcise and see how i go but at the moment life is a bit hectic to try to fit it in lol

2inBlue
25-06-2007, 07:05
Hmmm I don't know why he does it but another not so good night last night. Maybe 2hours straight sleep and total of 4-5 hours. Problem number one, if he had the chance he would feed 24/7. Problem number two, he will quite often fall asleep during the first side then a) wake up while burping have the second side then not want to sleep at all. Or b) will not wake up at all no matter what I do so I just have to let him sleep for 30mins to and hour till he wakes up wanting the rest. Problem number three, its damn near impossible to burp him (had the same problem with Damian.) Problem number four, hes showing signs of colic (bringing his knees/legs up) but only once in a while. The child health nurse said he wasn't too young to have it:thumbsdown:
Other than that he just had to pick sunday night to play up. Thats what I don't get he was fine friday night and saturday night. I wouldn't mind so much its just Damian is such a handful during the day and no chance of me getting a sleep.

Sorry for complaining yet again. Other than DH don't really have anyone else I can tell (that wouldn't say something belittling about the situation.) Poor DH he has to get up at 6am and doesn't get home till 5pm. He so lovingly reminded me though that he may be tired but they don't yell and scream at him at work like Damian sometimes does.

Hey JoJo welcome  Hows your little man doing. Not sure if you've seen but they are raving about your little only in the Due in August threads. I myself had the good intentions of hopping on Bubhub while feeding at night. They were short lived as now I'm to lazy to even sit in a chair to feed which is killing my back. I'd lay down feeding but then Sebastian tends to fall asleep and so do I, resulting in having to wake up again when he does to change and offer the other side.

Bub2luv I can understand a little how you're feeling with your DD. Damian (our first) has been really good and most of the time loves his little brother. I've been working very hard to give him enough attention so the doesn't feel left out and letting him help me a little. Thank fully he doesn't want to climb on me or anything like that. He's probably a little older than your DD he'll be 3 in August. The only problem we have is with DH, as hes at work all day he doesn't spend as much time with him and only half and hour to and hour playing with him at night so Damian does sometimes get a little stroppy when DH sees to Sebastian.

Niki I can't imagine how much work you would have with two but it must be so worth it. I myself don't understand how someone like a midwife or child health nurse could be so negative and rude. They really shouldn't be saying things to put you down, its hard enough having a new born ant the chance of getting baby blues or PND. One day she may say something that could really do damage to some poor mum.

Starlet I also change Sebastian on the end of the bed. Drives me nuts at night though as DH is very touchy with me turning on the light and the lamp i have on the floor is pretty much useless. On top of that he is one of those boys that will pee the second his nappy is off. Thankfully I have some nice thick blankets of Damian's I can use for change mats. As for the laying down and feeding as I said before we both fall asleep. Also due to my bad back my right shoulder blade is pretty much shot so it would hurt a lot if I were to lay on it for a long time.

Ok I've woken up a little now, off to make Damian some more toast and feed Sebastian. Maybe we should post an attn: thread in the due date thread with this link inviting all mums to join us. If someone wanted to do that I think it would be a good idea I just don't think I'll have the time until much later today.

Anywho I hope you all had a good weekend and that all the bubs arn't playing up too much.

P.S sorry again for complaining and thanks for putting up with me:D

I thought I'd better come and say hi

Alexis Jade was born on the 19th and has been nothing but great.

2inblue, that's what we're here for, so don't hold back!!

My boy is 2 weeks old today! I can't believe it!!

He had his first shower this morning with daddy(we were washing him in the kitchen sink lol), he loved it, so much that he fell asleep in the shower lol.

DSD isn't really taking it that well, she is having alot of tantrums and demanding attention from DP ALL the time. She won't even talk to me atm. *sigh* She is havin a rough time I know, as her mum got kicked out of their rental and the keep getting knocked back for rentals that they have applied for. Get this, they are all staying at DPs parents house atm, so DPs parents are over at our house alot(DPs dad can't stand DPs ex). It's sad really that DPs exs parents won't even let her stay with them.

Yay I got some sleep last night :smiliedance:

Well he was unsettled till 12am, I fed him at 9pm then had to let him sleep with me from 10pm-12pm. After that he feed from 12 till 12:40am  (with a nappy change in between.) Then he woke again at 3:40am and not again till 6am. Though he has been feeding off and on since 6am hes only just finished!!!! I don't know where its coming from but I can still hear him swallowing.

Anywho off to rescue my washing from the rain :gloomy: rewash it and put it in the dryer, crappy weather. I'll be back later to comment and ramble some more :p

Ooh I'm so glad you got some sleep. I know how crappy it makes you feel when you don't get enough.

Last night was really good for us, I only had to get up once. DP and I hired out Buzz for the playstation so we stayed up and played that til about 10.30ish, Owen woke up at 11 for a feed(we were still up), then went back to sleep and woke up at 4, then back to sleep again til 8am. So yeah I felt really good. BUT I now have a cold and cough that my DSD had. Argh!

The weather has been nice here today for the first day in a while, got to hang out the cloth nappies on the line instead of putting them through the dryer.

I think Owen has reflux, he spews after every feed and today it actually seems to be bothering him :( Poor bub. DS1 had this, so I do know what to expect(but I want to keep breastfeeding rather than switch to formula this time). He's gotten me good too, this morning we were lying in bed, skin to skin with him on my tummy and he spewed in my face and all over my pillow! Bleh! Then just before he spewed straight down my top and down my bra! lol.

My DS1 turns 5 next Thursday. Where oh where has the last 5 years gone? :( He is so big now and it just amazes me that he was once as small(smaller actually) as Owen. He's sooo looking forward to it though, he's having a party next weekend at a play centre and his kindy friends are all coming, and my mum is taking the kids to the circus that is in town atm!

Hope you don't mind me joining in, Wynter was born last Thursday (21st) So far she is a dream baby all she does is eat and sleep, she was 3 weeks early so i'm not sure if that has something to do with it, but if she stays this way i'll be one happy mummy!

Hi Everyone,
I finally have actually read this thread! It's such a change, I spent sooooo much time on the internet before Xavier was born. Just to pass time and now I barely have time to read my email.

2inBlue, I really like your idea about putting a post about the mums and bubs thread in the due in June section. I'll go have a look and see if it's been done, if not, I'll do it. There don't seem to be many of us around. But then......who has that much time any more? I'm glad to see you're getting more sleep. It sure does make life easier. I've only had a couple of nights where Xavier was up til 4am and they were killers! Usually he has a feed at about 11 and then wakes at 3,7 and 11-12. I have been sleeping with him the whole time. I figure I might as well get lots of sleep when I can. You never know what the next night is going to bring. And since he is my only child I can get away with it.

I still feel very washed out after the C/Section as I lost a fair bit of blood. I can't take iron as it makes me really sick. So that will just take time to get on top of. I have never eaten so much red meat in my life!

Starlet. I got spewed on down the front of my top the other day too. It went straight down my bra and I swear I thought it had made it to my pants for a second! My mum gave me a few bibs before Xavier was born. I was wondering what a newborn would do with a bib. WELL! If he wasn't wearing a bib his clothes would be changed 6 times a day from him spilling out excess milk into his collar or down his front.

Hi to Mumma_Jessy and the other new mum's here. I look forward to having lots of new mum's to chat to who are going through the same stuff as me.

Niki....you're a legend for caring for twins! My hat goes off to you. I think I would lose it. It is such a lot of work just looking after one baby.

Holly, I say up yours to those stupid breastfeeding nazis! Xavier ended up losing more than 10% of his body weight and getting dehydrated in hospital because he wasn't getting enough to eat. He was cranky and miserable. No wonder...He was starving!! They said it was just wind. It wasn't until day 4 that he was comped with a bit of formula and then started to thrive. My milk didn't really come in until the day I went home. That was day 6! Imagine what would've happened if he hadn't had those top ups. He is totally breast fed now and is a little guts. He is back to his birth weight and a very content little boy.

Blah blah!! That's enough from me. Hope everyone is doing well. Jo

Hi Guys,
I found you! Jo

Hi girls! I too didn't realise this part existed until i saw it mentioned by Starlet! I will read throught this thread when I get a bit more time.
Mackenzie has been good, although I've gone through 2 different formulas in the last 2 - 3 weeks - I changed to formula after day 5. s26 gave her constipation so now we're trying Karicare gold + She's still a little all over the place with feeds too - she'll go 2 and half hours then scream like she's starving and will leave between 20 - 40 mls then other times she'll go 4 hours!!?? Can't quite work it all out yet, but hopefully it'll start making sense soon! She seems to have a witching hour though around 7 - 9pm I didn't remember it so early with Charlotte though? But maybe it's normal?
I've also come to realise how much easier it was having just the one to deal with - DD1 has been great, but it's been hard learning to juggle my time between the two of them and running the house too!!

Anyway, I'm off to bed - need to get in when i can!! Hope you're all doing well!

Just a quick little post today. Rather tired even though I got my first day time nap in three weeks. I'll get back later to do personals just so busy in the last two days. DH is working late at the moment leaves at 7:30am didn't get home till 6:45pm tonight end of financial year and all.

Child health nurse came over today, Sebastian has put on another 290g in 6 days. Probably another reason I feel so drained with all this milk production. She said to give him one more week of feeding so often, if he hasn't slowed down might try and work something out.

Just one more thing, is anyone else craving sugar like its water? I just can't get enough of it!! Mostly in the evenings all I want is something sweet.

Anyway good night all hopefully I'll get to sleep before 11pm for once :)

Howdy strangers! I only just recently found this thread! And now all I have to do is find time to post! The little miss will be waking shortly, then it's off to the shops to meet a friend for coffee (it's amazing how shopping can make you feel "normal" again!), so just a short post today.

Hope you are all doing well. Eva is finally sleeping through the night! Yay! I usually don't get to bed before 1.30am (arggh!) as she is always cluster feeding at night. But a few times now she has slept til 7.30!!!! Oh to feel normal! It has been a slow, hard process with this breastfeeding. If I wasn't so determined, I would have given up long ago. I believe it was the midwives fault from the start. When Eva was born, they didn't get me to try to feed until 4 hours later! I don't know why. Then she wouldn't attach, so rather then spend the time to help me, I was made to express each time. On the 2nd last day at hospy, I could tell Eva was really hungry and might attach, so buzzed the midwives for some help. They tried for a few minutes, then went off and came back with a nipple shield and that worked. They said that was my problem. A few weeks later, my sister came over and helped me attach Eva without the shield, and it worked...goodbye nipple shield! So that wasn't my problem at all. It has still been hard since then to get her to suck properly, as I don't think the shield was making her work hard enough. Then of course I was tearing my hair out at why the evenings was when Eva would be crying all the time (in the day, she hardly crys at all). Until I was told about cluster feeding (in the b/feeding section on bubhub - thank god for bubhub!). Now I know that I will basically do nothing but feed in the evenings, and she is perfect! They say that the first 6 weeks are the hardest (she turned 6 weeks on Monday  ) and they are so right. I am feeling normal again!

Anyway, so much for the short post! Hehe! I will post personals next time, as the princess awakes! Have a great day everyone, and revel in this miracle of motherhood - we did it!

Hi everyone

Sorry, dont get much time to pop in anymore!!

Katie is doing good, she is still feeding well (120ml now) and is slowly learning the difference between day and night, she tends to be a bit unsettled still when we go to bed but by about 1am is settling to sleep. last night she slept til 4am then fed, then slept right through til 9.30 which is bliss for me cos I get a lie in!!! DH is still mostly getting up with her at night, he doesnt need as much sleep as me, so I'm releived I'm not breastfeeding or I'd be a complete mess by now.

Starlet, sorry to hear about the reflux, is there anything you can do for it or is it one of those things? :hugs:

2inBlue
28-06-2007, 12:35
Normal  whats that! Yay for my little boobie piglet, he fed at 12:40am 2:30am 4:10am and then after that I passed out with him feeding because I was to lazy to put him back if he was going to wake up again. Which he didn't till 6am and then I just made DH get up and change him. He gets it so easy, I don't really get him to help during the night because there is not point with me having to feed him. Yet I feel pretty good today, folded all the washing from two days ago (didn't have time before both boys wanting attention.) Washed all the dirty cloths and hung them out (two loads worth) while spending two hours outside playing with Damian, Sebastian was asleep in his stroller. Other than that the only thing I have to complain about is damn it was cold last night!!!! 6 degrees I feel like I'm back in Auckland.

HollyHotLips - Great to hear things are well. How are you and your stitches doing? I remember it being really sore with Damian (I had a 3rd degree with him.) If you have any irritation I found that using nappy rash cream really helps (you could try sudocrem.)

Niki - I hope things get easier for you in the next few weeks when Steve goes back to work. How is Jake during the day with you having to look after the twins?

Butterfliez - Just something to help you with the b/f'ing I was told that sleeping/rest helps build up your supply. So nap when ever you can, kinda goes along with the whole cluster feeding in the evenings as your supply is starting to get low and is best in the mornings. Speaking of which I'm being bad and not having a nap while Damian is down but if I do I'll get no time to myself.

Worm'sMum - I feel the same way with having Damian as well as Sebastian. Damian isn't in any kind of child care and is with me 24/7. I feel so guilty though when there are other mums like Tracey who have more than two kids. Its just going to take a while to get used to I guess. Damian's been really good also, just a little more demanding of my attention or maybe I just feel that as the rest of the time I'm with Sebastian. I really do feel like I'm just running between the two all day on top of doing the house work.

jojo72 - Thanks for posting that thread I've been busy plus when I have been on the computer I always forget to do the things I need to. A lot of friends are still waiting for baby photos :o I seem to always run out of time.

mumma_jessy hello and welcome :) Congratulations on the birth of Wynter, I was also wondering how you would say her name.

Starlet - You make it seem so easy, a beautiful happy healthy baby who is growing well. what are you planing on doing for your DS1 birthday? Damian's is coming up in August I'm thinking about making him and Elmo cake or what ever hes into at that point in time.

Starlet
28-06-2007, 17:55
I must have been lacking in sleep big time and not realised it, because bub woke at 7.30am and I fed him and then DP took him so I could sleep in....I didn't wake up til 11.30am! Eep!! Feels good to sleep in though!

Holly, there isn't much I can do about it, if he gets worse(like has pain after feeds and when he's throwing up) or if he starts throwing up his whole feed and stops gaining weight then we'll have to get meds for him. DS1 stopped having reflux when he turned one.

2inblue, It feels so easy, but I guess it helps having DP home all day everyday, not too sure what it'll be like when he goes back to work(I have not cooked a single meal in 4 weeks lol).

We're having Jayden's birthday party at a play centre this year because he wants to invite all his kindy friends, I'd rather not have it at home, too much mess and stuff to deal with right now haha. I think we're also going to go to the circus as well(we have been the last 2 years for his birthday).

That's all I can fit in atm, Owen is hungry again LOL.

Good morning everyone,

How are you all?? I only just found this thread the other week. And haven't had a chance to post since i found it!! Have been reading though. Have been scarce this week. I've had mum staying with me to help me out. Feel a bit bad though watching everyone vacuum and do my washing!! Just a quick post from me whilst Ethan is eating his breakfast and Dakota is asleep in her rocker beside me. All is pretty good here. I have decided to stop wkaing dakota for a feed before i go to bed. I was waking her at around 10.30 but then she would wake at around the same time Ethan would come into me in the morning so therefore he wouldn't go back to sleep and i don't enjoy getting up at 6am!!! Last night she had a feed at 6.40 and didn't wake again until 11.40, then at 3.45 again. Ethan didn't come in until around 6.30 so we beat him!!

When i was feeding Dakota the other night i noticed a bit of funny feeling in my stomach, just above my scar, when i bent my leg up. Felt the area and it almost felt like a piece of wire poking into my gut! Was feeling it again last night in the bath and feels like it's about an inch long!! Off to the doc on Monday with Dakota to get it checked out. Hope they didn't leave anything in me!! Think it's really strange.

Anyways, sorry for no personals but best run. Will try and get in over the weekend and do persy's. Hope everyone is well.

Kasey- Eep, that sounds a bit worrying! Maybe it's just the stitches or something? I have no idea but I hope they didn't leave anything in you!

My CHN was open for drop in's this morning so I thought I'd mosey on down there and get Owen weighed. As you know I was a bit worried about his vomiting after every feed etc, so I wanted to check that he is putting on weight...WELL, I don't think I have to worry too much as he is exactly 5kg! So at 2 weeks and 4 days old, he has put on almost 1kg from his birth weight and 1.5kg from just after he was born(he lost 500g after birth).

Holy moly, I have a big boy! I was wondering why his 0000 sleepsuit was hard to get on him this morning. The only prob is he has short legs, so 000 pants are HUGE on him lol. Mind you, they fit better with his cloth bum in it.

Was feeling a bit down last night as bub wasn't feeding too great, kept screaming at my boob :( And I started thinking that maybe I should give up and go to bottles. But then when we all went to bed he was still unsettled and after about an hour he let out a huge burp and went to sleep. So all is good, he doesn't hate my boobies and I will keep going lol.

:yelclap: well done Owen on hitting 5kgs :yelclap:

the midwife from the hospital has been coming to my house every second day since i left to weigh sophie and yesterday she weighed 2.5kgs so the midwife doesnt have to come back any more :smiliedance: yay it was very hard when she was coming as they come anywhere between 9am-5pm so i couldnt even plan anything for the day

i had all 3 kids till 10pm last by myself as steve went to see a movie with some friends, i practically had to force him out the door lol, it went fine it wasnt as hard as i though thank gawd

so so so tired both babies ares till not going well at night time they are grumpy most of the night and grissle, hopefully they settle into a roiutine soon

Everyone must have been rather busy on the weekend or just taking some time off like I did. DH was great after a very stressful week he looked after the boys most of Sunday and gave me the day off. Still trying to get Sebastian settled, he seems to be unsettled in the mornings and late evenings. Though lucky for me today Damian had a 2 hour sleep and although Sebastian kept waking up I just put him in bed with me. He really does love having boobie on tap if he wakes up :p He was quite good last night only woke three times. I've given up on trying to get his feeding into a routine and just feeding on demand now. One time he's happy to go 4 hours the next he starts cracking up at one and a half hours. Will be interesting to see how much weight he's put on at his 4 wk check up. I wish it weren't true but my baby will be 4 wks on Wednesday. Where does the time go? It feels like all I've been doing these last 4 weeks is changing nappies doing washing and b/f'ing. On top of which I have a physio appointment for myself tomorrow and a peads appointment for Damian on Wednesday, I'm going to be in for a busy week if I hope to get out and go shopping before Saturday. In better news because of all the overtime DH has been doing he gets to take a few days off (he works for QLD government.) I asked him to take next Wednesday off give me a nice break in the middle of the week, though we'll probably go to the zoo and gardens as it would be a nice treat for Damian.

Niki - congrats on the night home alone. Bet makes you feel really good to be able to look after the kids by yourself. I'm feeling pretty damn good that I've had the boys for two weeks by myself and we are all still alive. Had a pretty bad day last Friday though that was not from the boys acting up to much but more so lack of sleep. I also didn't get a nap at lunch time as Sebastian woke up and didn't want to lay down with me.

Wow Starlet you have on healthy little man there. Sebastian now weighs more than what Damian did when he was born yet he still looks smaller and the suits that used to be a little small on Damian still fit Sebastian fine. Don't know where hes putting it all but hes still eating like no tomorrow. I was also wondering what the key signs for reflux are. Sebastian is always spitting up normally just a little but sometimes it can be up to 5mls or so. He'll do it from just after his feed all the way through to his next. I thought at first that it was because he was feeding so often and drinking so much but now I'm not so sure.

Kasey - How did the doctors appointment go? I hope its nothing bad and that you're feeling better now.

Oh well I guess I should jump in the shower now while Damian is watching the Bananas and Sebastian is taking another nap. I hope every one is well and not having to many problems.

P.S Sebastian has now pooped everywhere (while being changed) three times and all since Friday afternoon. So now that I've done all the washing for today I've got more to do tomorrow. Ah yes I now remember how frustrating this used to be :p

Hi ladies!

Sorry I haven't been in much, busy busy with DF still home, I feel guilty if i'm on here too much.

Wynter is doing great, putting on weight and feeding well. Last night slept for 5 and a half hours between feeds! I had to wake her up in the end cause my boobs felt like they were gonna explode!

Anyone else actually making too much milk for thier bubbas? I am expressing and freezing about 150-200mls extra a day. Guess it's handy to have some if i need it, saving it for a rainy day, lol!

2inblue - Ahhh, the washing! All I seem to have done since leaving hospital is wash clothes!

Niki - congrats on doing well all by yourself! Hope that your two settle into a nice routine for you soon hun, night waking is no fun at all

starlet - Wow, way to go Owen! You have a healthy little man on your hands there. Keep up the good b/f work, it's obviously working, and i'm sure he doesn't hate your boobs. Have you tried feeding him more upright, then the air bubble come out as your going?

Ethan's mummy - I'm Ethan's mummy too, lol! That thing sounds a bit strange to me, hope it's nothing to worry about...

HHL - Wow what a great sleep in Katie let you have, you lucky woman!!

Butterfliez - How terrible the midwives were not to help you from the start! Glad to hear the feeding is doing better now. This is my thrid baby and i still had to ask for help in the hospital, it's just one of those things that is generally not easy for anyone!

Will try and come back again soon, happy settled baby dust to everyone :wizard:

PS for those that were wondering, Wynter is pronounced like the season: win-ter

Hi everyone, just on real quickly (where does time go!) to say things are going as well as I think they can be expected to at the moment for us.
Ryan is doing great, feeding well and sleeping well but not always at the right times, and it's hard catching up with sleep when you have an active toddler waking you in the morning. We have all been napping together in the afternoons.
My milk is in, but Ryan is so hungry they haven't even had the chance to be engorged, he is drinking as fast as I can make it. I spent a couple of nights of continuous breastfeeding the poor man. He is a contented baby though and so much more alert than dd was at this age (3 weeks gestation obviously makies a difference!).
All I have time for now, will bbl to catch up with how everyone is going later.

Hi everyone.
I hope you all had a good weekend. I started my weekend with a content baby and by the end of it I had a boy that spent lots of time screaming! It looks like he is experiencing a lot of lower wind pain. I am burping him at every feed to try and prevent it making it down there but there's only so much you can do I guess. His pooping has dropped down to 2-3 huge explosive ones in the evening/night. They seem to be really painful for him.

He only really gets like this in the evening. Unfortunately he seems to have become nocturnal again. He sleeps beautifully between 2am and 4pm, waking every 3-4 hours and then gets all windy and wants to cluster feed until 2am!
I took him out for a long walk this afternoon to see the sunshine. He just slept in the pram!!

It's been really hard to see him crying during the night, he seems so distressed. It makes me upset too. Especially when I want to sleep. I said to my BF the other day that's it's not fair that we get a new baby to care for, hormones all over the place, severe sleep deprivation and we have to get over the birth as well. ALL AT THE SAME TIME!! It's like nature is playing some cruel joke on us....

That's my vent. I feel a bit better now.

Hope everyone is doing well. Jo

Hi Everyone,

Jojo72 - your story sound identical to mine at the minute - We have a very haapy content baby in the daytime who sleeps well, then she turns into a screaming, unsettled, in pain bubba from about 5pm till about 2am. It is very heartbreaking to see her like that every night (and very tiring too). We have just started to try Infacol drops before her evening feeds to see if that helps her wind pains and I have also started on a food elimination diet to see if it is something I am eating that may be giving her the bad wind pains. I am trying to avoid sugary foods, chocolate, cows milk, cheese and cream and a few other things for the next week to see if that helps. I dont think its food related but I feel like I need to find out just for my own piece of mind. :hugs: I hope you get a good nights sleep soon.

Its great to hear that everyones babys are putting on lots of weight and growing well.

Elis put on over 1kg over her birth weight already which is great - It doesnt look as though she has filled out any, her arms and legs are still long and skinny - its all gone into height. She is looking very tall and fills out a few of her 000 jumpsuits already  . I am really glad I didnt buy any 0000's.

Gotta go - Elis calling for more milkys.
Sending everyone lots of  vibes!

 hi everyone

I totally understand what you girls mean about bubs being unsettled at night, both mine have been like this for the last few nights, it does make it alot harder as when they dont sleep i dont either lol

Jordan is now weighing 3.3kg and Sophie weighs 2.7kg, so they are doing great with their weight gain and fianlly starting to fit into their 0000 clothes.

i cant believe they are nearly 3 wks old, gosh the time flies...does anyone else think the days go sooo fast with a newborn?

we have a wedding to go to on sat night, im pretty excited as it will be our first big outing as a fam of 5!

Firstly :hugs: for those that have un-happy babies at night. I have so far been very lucky with Wynter except for a couple of nights, which i linked back to when i ate fried eggs (& quiche one night), so no more eggs for me, and since then she has been fine.

But know exactly what you are going through, DD1 was terrible at night, but unfortunately not just in the night, she was in pain all the time with wind, all she did for the first 6 months was scream!

DD1 is not well, not sure with what yet ,just not herself and a temp etc, i'm trying to get her to steer clear of bubba but it's hard when she is so interested in her. I'm terrified Wynter will get whatever she is coming down with.

Anyone elses bub getting milk spots? Look like little pimples on her face, i'm sure i remember them from my other bubs, think they are just a sign that her pores are starting to work properly and they are nothing to worry about, but i guess i just wanna check...

Must go my baby girl needs feeding then it's off to bed for me too!!!

Hi guys,
Just thought I'd say a quick hi. Just giving Xavier a little off to sleep feed. Not long ago he had a big feed for nearly an hour. I put him in bed, ten minutes later he was crying. I picked him up and he did the most MASSIVE spew all down the font of himself and me! So off to get changed we both went....then he spewed on the clean singlet I put on him. Bit like pooing in the clean new nappy. What joy... hopefully we'll get off to sleep for a while soon. See you all later, Jo

Hi, was wondering how often the babies are being fed at night? Ryan is eating every 1-2 hours at night, but 3-4 hourly during the day, and I am not sure whether I should just go with his demand or try and adjust his routine at the tender age of 1 week old. My milk supply is not coping as well as I would like.
So far I am still lucky, he is a happy baby as long as his tummy is being looked after.
I just can't remember too much of these very early days (roll on the 6 week mark where I can remember it all becoming a bit easier).
Hope everyone is doing well.

Jo - Sounds like little Xavier overdid himself.... boys!

OK, I am off to have a shower with dd while Ryan is sleeping - one baby on it's own seems so easy on looking back, yet I know it didn't seem that way when I just had the one (although she was very unsettled compared to Ryan)! I am still a bit scared of managing to go out to shops and stuff with 2 children on my own and don't think I will attempt it for a while.

Evening everyone,

How are you all?? Hope everyone is well. Just a really quick one from me as i'm in absolute agony. :( Well went to the doc on monday to get that weird sharp point in my belly looked at it and it's all good apparently just where my nerves have been cut during ceaser. But i have an ear infection. It wasn't that sore when i asked him about on monday. Tuesday night had high temps and one really really sore ear. Didn't get to sleep till about 2am last night cause of the throbbing then of course Dakota woke up just before 3! Always the way. I'm about to give expressing a go and hope it works and see if Stephen will feed her tonight if i'm in a good sleep. I am so over it. I know why kids scream when they get one and hope to god Ethan never gets one. I ended up back at the doc to get different drops and oral antibiotics and god i hope they work soon.

Sorry about the ramble about me! Apart from that everything else is well. Dakota is doing really well. Had her 4 week check up on Monday too. Weighed in at 4.7kgs so has put on 90 grams under a kilo of her birth weight. That's pretty good i think! Has grown 1.5 cms and her head has grown 3 cms since birth!

Anyways i'm going to go. I'm in for another shocking nights sleep i think. I am so over it.

Have a good night everyone

Hey all just thought i'd say a quick hello and catch up later.
Well my little one is nearly a week old. Feeding well, a little too well. Feels constant from dinner time through to about midnight.:banghead:
If we are out he wont feed for 3-4 hours, but at home and unless sleeping onsomeones chest (usually DH) wants to feed every 1.5- 2hrs.
I has totally chomped up my nipples, resorting to expressing one side for 24 hr period.
He is a pretty settled baby, doesn't cry as much as DD did.
Anyway after leaving hospital, i got a cold, which was fevers and aches for the first two days and settled into a normal cold *rolling eyes* Looks as if my cough has turned into bronchotis but they think its only viral, so antibotics wont help.
Then my lips broke out in cold sores which i don't normall get.
Oh well whats a mum to do? Bring on those super human power:wizard:

Hi all,Finally made time to come, I can not believe how quickly time goes.Bella is a dream a baby we are very lucky and it has been working so well as I got to go back to hospital on Friday for a D and C (a curete- excuse spelling) so hopefully my bleeding days are coming to an end!Thankfully I have a friend who put me onto baby wise prior to her being born and it is really working for us thus far. She is eating really well, settling for the most part very well and I am getting sleep too. Just waiting for it all to go to custard.Loving being a mumma. Should have done it years ago.

Hi ladies (& bubbies!)

Sorry to hear that none of us are getting any sleep! Wynter is the same lately, feeds 3-4 hourly all day then every 2 hours at night, this happened with my others too, it's almost like i run out of milk by the end of the day, is that possible??

I have been expresing in the mornings when i have plenty and feel like i'm gonne pop, so luckily i have that to settle her in the evening with a bottle if i can't.

DF is back at work today, and so far so good. In fact it's kinda nice to ba able to have my routine again, as much as I love being with him all the time, it's nice to have some space too.

We have spent almost the whole time he was home looking at cars, with three car seats in the back ours just isn't big enough. We finally found one we liked yesterday ( a grand voyager, 7 seats!) but the bank is taking their time and after a week we still have no idea about our loan, grr banks :banghead: So I have spent all day on the phone bugging them, lol!

How is everyones older babies dealing with the new additions?

DD is fine, no problems at all, but DS is playing up. It's hard to tell if it's casue of Wynter or if it's just the age/phase thing, hopefully he will settle down now that we can have a routine again..

Ok, i have written an essay again, lol Catch up again soon, here is some sleeping dust for those bubbas :wizard:

Hi everyone, sounds like things are going quite similarly for everyone... except I seem to have a very settled baby between about 2pm and 8am, and between 8am and 2pm he wants to feed continuously (which is when I normally do stuff with dd!). But I can't complain, I am getting much more sleep than I was in late pregnancy and so far he is great.
Kayla is excellent with him, very loving, helpful and trustworthy, although she takes advantage of when my hands are full to be naughty. I dread the day when I have to go to the shops with the 2 of them, I think I'll avoid that for a while!

Mummajessy - I have heard that girls are better with new additions than boys so that could be why Savannah is coping better than Ethan.

Erica - Glad you are loving being a Mummy! When we are all a bit more settled we should organise a meet for all South / West based Mummies at the Crazy Critters Playcafe in Forest Lake. Anyone else keen?

Niki - Sounds like your twins are doing great. 3 under 2, you certainly have your hands full!

EthansMummy - Hope you are feeling better soon.

Hi ladies

Man am I buggered, Sebastian is doing well and is quite settled most of the time but looking after two boys pretty much 24/7 (as I find it easy doing things my way:p) really knocks it out of you. No matter how much sleep I get I just feel so tired come evening time. Oh and I just cant stop eating!!! Thankfully I haven't put on any weight but my DH even thinks I'm crazy for the amount I eat. Hes shock as to where its all going as I am a very small person. Also still having the huge sugar cravings in the evenings, does anyone else have this or a reason for it???

Anywho no real personals tonight as I'm going to bed soon, attempt 100 at getting an early night. Just one thing to say to mumma_jessy, I hope this helps but your milk supply runs on you. If you're stressed it will affect it same with sleep. Its normal to feel low or have little in the evenings as you've been running around all day. Most babies will feed often in the evenings because of this fact. I was told by my child health nurse to try and have a nap during the day if you can. I know it may be hard as you have older children but the more rest and sleep that you get the stronger your supply will be. I hope that helps and don't worry about feeling low as almost all mums go through the same thing. :)

Just a quick one, but I'm BACK!

Had a horrible weekend last weekend, I got mastitis and felt like dying, DP had to run me to the ER on Sunday it was so bad.

And then HE dropped the laptop and it broke, so we have been without a pc for over a week, but it's fixed now and I'm back lol.

DS1 turned 5 on Thursday, can't believe how fast that has gone!! He has his party this Saturday and he really can't wait!! hehe.

Owen has been fantastic still! He was 4 weeks old yesterday, argh! I wish it'd slow down a bit! Last night he slept from 9.30pm til 5am! Woohoo!

Hi all!

Starlet - sorry to hear about your mastitis, hope your feeling better now hun!

2inblue - Know what you mean, i am exhausted too. Really Wynter is fantastic and i hardly even notice shes around most of the time, but just having that extra one really kills me, i'm in bed by 9pm!

Jo - Glad to hear things are well with you, glad to hear your DD loves the new addtion!

Well i'm having one of those days. I don't know why but i'm not dealing well with things this week, lack of sleep maybe??

Poor DS is getting worse and I feel like a terrible mother for putting him through having to adjust with a new baby again. He is now wetting his bed again, and having accidents in the day and being really naughty (last night he drew crayon all over the tv screen when i was making dinner) even though he knows things are wrong he is doing them. he is usually such a good boy, which probably makes it even harder for me, because it is totally out of character. He is great with both the girls and loves his new sister so much, but is obviously having trouble adjusting. I just don't know what to do to help him, any ideas?

Sorry to vent, but i had to do it somewhere and sitting here in tears whenver he does something is not a good answer!

Oh Jessy you poor thing! I know what it feels like to have bad days at the moment. I find it's good to have a really good cry if I need to. I don't even actually feel upset. Just frustrated and overwhelmed I think. AND TIRED! It just makes everything worse. I never knew it was going to be this hard. And I only have one baby to care for. Take care of yourself. I'm sorry I don't have any great ideas for how to help. I just thought you'd like to know that someone is thinking of you and hoping things are better now. Jo :hugs:

Well we had a good day yesterday morning. DH had the day off because of all the overtime he did end of June so we went shopping :D Damian is a very lucky boy with all the Thomas railway tracks hes getting for his birthday and Christmas. I just couldn't help it as my younger brother had a similar set while growing up and man it was a lot of fun. Also got myself a new camera sick of the fuzziness on my old one. After all of that we had a nice lunch at Sizzlers so I'm now feeling a little more human after getting out for the first time in 3 and a half weeks (other than food shopping.)

Sebastian is doing well though it seems not every other evening he gets very unsettles and will cry if you put him down and still cries (but not as much) if you hold him. Its doing my head in as I just can't work out whats wrong, I think hes getting some bad wind pains or maybe even colic. Most of the time the only thing that settles him is a good feed which most of the time hes to agitated to have. He was good during the night last night though, only woke twice and feed really well then let me sleep till 7:30 yay :p

mumma_jessy - Sorry to say I don't really have any ideas later. Damian is acting up a little also but more so attention seeking and to him its just a huge game. Hes really happy and hes not really doing anything bad just really full on. I do feel for you, come the end of the day I feel that all I ever do is yell at him. I just can't seem to find another way to get through. As you say and from what you've said I do believe that it is and ajustment thing. From what I've heard bed wetting and accidents is a sign of stress in children. I'm not sure if you have Child and family health clinics where you are (only been living in Australia for nearly 4 years I'm still learning) but maybe if you do or something similar give them a call see if you can talk to someone they are always a great help.

Jojo - Don't tell yourself that you are not aloud to feel stressed or frustrated because you only have one child. With my first it was hell on earth for the first 4 months he had and on going UTI which they never worked out why and would scream for 3 hours straight in the evenings. There was nothing we could do to calm him. Its very stressful and like most mothers they don't understand why most things just don't come naturally. You should really look at that fact that you have a beautiful healthy boy who is nearly a month old and how well you have done so far. Just remember it may be bad today and tomorrow and the next day but its not going to be like that for ever. As my older brother so lovingly put in a card once..... 'You think you have problems now, wait till hes asking you for the keys to the car.'

Starlet - I'm glad you're better now and happy to have you back. It got rather quiet for a while I have to say I did miss not having you around. I'm also a little jealous at how well Owen is sleeping. I'm starting to think that Sebastian is going to be just like Damian who didn't sleep thought till about one and a half.

Morning everyone,

How are you? Hope everyone is well. I am buggered!! Although Dakota had a feed at 7.40pm, then she decided she wanted another at 10:30pm, but only sucked for like 2 mins before falling asleep. But didn't wake for another feed until 4.30 this morning!!! Was brilliant. Although Ethan came in at 1am! Was hoping he'd sleep in since he didn't go to sleep till 9.30 last night but no was in my bed at about 6.30 and wouldn't go back to sleep cause i had Dakota in there trying to settle her. So basically been awake since 4.30am. Not happy!! Think this will be a quick one from me whilst Ethan is watching Raggs. Waiting for visitors to turn up. Just haven't told Ethan who is coming in case they can't and i won't hear the end of it! Dakota is asleep we'll just see how long that lasts for. I have found she is a much better sleeper on her belly i just don't like to leave her there for long, though she is good at lifting her head up. If she's dog tired and hasn't had a sleep and needs one i will put her on her belly and just keep an eye on her but won't do it for the night, i'm just too paranoid. I have been reading just haven't had time to post. Everytime i attempt to something comes up. And everytime Dakota cries i have to watch Ethan as he goes up to her and puts his hand over her mouth and nose. I have no idea where he has gotten it from but does it every chance he can and it's really ticking me off. He's getting a little rough with her and i don't know what to do. If he is given a smack it doesn't phase him at all. Think i'm going to have to resort to putting him in his room as this seems to be the only thing that bothers him. Any tips?? I don't know what else to do. Anyways, I best go and try and do a really quick tidy up!

Have a good day everyone

Don't worry 2inblue, it only lasted for one night lol. Bailey(DS2) didn't sleep through until he was just over three(and that was only a few months ago), and he still occassionally wakes up. Argh!!

Kasey, I would try doing time out with Ethan, just sit him in the corner or something for a couple of minutes and then talk to him and tell him why he was put in the corner. Hopefully he will catch on pretty quickly. Oh and about the tummy thing, I know how u feel, my first two were tummy sleepers and I was always uber paranoid, Owen however, HATES tummy time(unless he is laying on my tummy, but even that doesn't last all that long).

Niki, that sucks about the cold :( Hope you feel better soon. Good luck for today, I am starting to freak out about DP going back to work(he flies out next Thursday).

I'm off to see the new Harry Potter movie with my SIL this arvo! I'm sooooo excited lol. We've been to the movies three times already in the past week(took the boys to see Fantastic 4 at the drive ins, DP and I went to see Knocked Up, then my mum took us all to see Transformers for Jayden's birthday). Owen slept through each movie, so he'll be right today, just as long as he doesn't go doing big explosive poos!

Hi Everyone,
A quick little hello while Xavier is sleeping. He seems to have finally worked out the difference between night and day. YAY! Plus I started him on wind drops because he was so windy and unsettled til 2am most nights. Then he was only sleeping for 2-3 hours.

WELL!! Can I tell you we have our old boy back. His windiness has settled right down and he is so much happier. And so are his parents! The last couple of nights he slept in 3-4 hour lots and that starts from about 9pm. He seems to be on 2 hour feeds during the day.
He still has reflux but that only bothers him when he has a proper vomit which is usually only once or twice a day now. Still needs his clothes changed about 3 times a day though! But much better.
I feel so much better having had a bit more sleep and having a happier boy. I was on the verge of losing it completely for the last couple of weeks.

I love Xavier to death but to be honest I was starting to not enjoy this experience at all. And that made feel incredibly guilty etc which made me feel worse. I knew it would be get better but at the time in the midst of being so tired I was
nearly fainting it didn't seem possible that it would.

The person who kept telling me things would get better (without telling her how bad I felt) and who remembered how hard it is to care for a newborn is my DP's grandma who is 83! She was the one who told him he has to look after me because it will be very hard and I would be very emotional etc. Funny huh? You'd think that the new grandmas would remember more. I think they're just too excited to remember.

I can't believe he's one month old today! The weeks are just wizzing by. I remember when I was pregnant it seemed like it would never end. I want to make sure that I enjoy this as much as I can now. We can never get this time back. Plus I don't think I'll be able to sit and stare at my next baby for hours if I want to. Somebody else will be demanding my attention too. I must be feeling better. Two weeks ago I was swearing that we WOULD NOT be having another baby. LOL!

So there you go. Hopefully the BIG stressful time has passed. I'm sure there will be many more but fingers crossed this was the hurdle we had to cross. Some of the emotions I felt were really awful.

So there you go. That was me pouring my heart out. I didn't expect to do that! I'm sure I'm not the only person in the world who has felt the way I did.

I hope everyone is doing well and getting lots of sleep and having fun with their babies. Jo

Just a quick one from me today...

Sounds like we are all going through the same thing, it doesn't matter how many kids you have the first few weeks are really hard, i guess we just have to rember that it will pass and try and deal with it the best we can.

I'm feeling ok about things today, which is surprising, we were up all night with DS, had to take him to hospital and everything, he has bad croup. DD has a nasty cold and DF had the snip today, and of course i have a baby who needs me too. Like I said just have to rember that it aill all pass (my mantra!)

Must go, back again soon!

Hope you are all well!!

Hi everyone. I was hoping to join your thread if that's ok and you don't mind? I had joined the June pregnancy thread but dd was overdue and was born early July :babydust2: and I'm hoping I can glean your wisdom from having already had your newborn bubbies you will know what i'm going through.

I tell ya my son was born in 1992 and I have forgotten just about everything lol so it has been a relief to read what some of you are going through because i can soooooo relate - the unsettled nights, sore and cracked nipples and it's only been a week.

my mum and son just went back to NZ today so I'm feeling a little lonely with the house so empty and mum was my lifesaver in the last week helping me with everything so i could concentrate on dd.

I love being a mum and surprised by the sleepless nights and the unsettled times like last night when dd was up from 5.30 pm through to 1am this morning.

I felt so sorry for her today because it looks like she was too hot last night and i didnt recognise the signs and didnt even think to remove some of her blankets and today she came up with a rash on her chest and neck - I feel stupid and now know it was the suit she had on as well, cheap material that doesnt breathe and she must of sweltered in it :crying:

so today i gave her a bath and massaged her all over and put some nice clean cotton clothes on her and made sure she is not too hot and she's now sleeping soundly. I feel like such an idiot.

Otherwise she has been a contented baby and I think i need more sleep and to just keep finding my way figuring it all out. Talk soon.

The first month or so certainly is hard!
Ryan is a very good baby and I am lucky... but he still has his moments. I had him weighed yesterday - 4.4kg (from birth weight of 3.83), I was worried I didn't have enough milk for him but I guess I can stop worrying and just realise I have a very hungry baby. He seems quite windy in the evenings and we had a rough night last night, but this morning after an explosive poo he is sleeping like a baby (ha ha!).
To the new Mums who are struggling, I am finding this time around a lot easier, maybe because I knew what to expect. I know when Kayla was born I really struggled, I think the lack of time to yourself is the hardest thing to get used to. But I do remember it getting a lot easier at the 6 week mark.
Anyway, just wanted to reassure that it does get a lot better. I personally don't enjoy the newborn phase either!

Jo9999 - I agree about it being easier the second time around. It was a huge lifestyle adjustment going from being a couple to having our first baby.

Joy2me - Welcome. Dont feel bad about not realising she was hot. It is so hard when we cant communicate with them - It sounds like your a great, caring Mum!

To everyone else I hope you are all getting lots of sleep and enjoying your little bundles of Joy.

 Sleep is beginning to feel like a distant memory to me. My poor DD has had bad reflux and I cant settle her in her bassinet until approx 2 hours after a feed or she crys, hiccups and spits up milk so were only getting about 1 hours good sleep before she is hungry again :banghead: . Last night I think we had 3 hours in total between 9pm and 7am. The poor thing gets so overtired and I feel really sorry for her. The only way she sleep really well is proped upright in her bouncer or in someones arms. Right now she is in her bouncer and has been asleep for 3hrs. I am too scared to sleep her in her bouncer at night time though because she wriggles and throws herself around when she gets tummy pains and I would be awake supervising her all night- worried she might wiggle out of the harness.

Bub2luv your poor lil DD

I know what you mean about the sleep, i only got 1hours sleep in a 48hour period so we decided to change formulas and last night and today has been bliss, they are settling after a feed and sleeping 2-3hours in between

im so looking forward to tonight, its dh's turn to watch them as he is off tomorrow :yelclap: yay for sleep lol

:smiliedance:We had our first few smiles and cooing sounds today, well smiles that I can undoubtedly say were not wind. Damian's been testing me, just being cheeky and attention seeking I think he'll most likely get over it I think. I'm ok in myself but I don't think I'm getting enough rest. For some reason just under my right eye swelled up rather bad last night and still hasn't gone down even after several ice packs on it. I've just been feeling a little stressed lately, the boys aren't that bad its mostly the fact that I'm so tired that makes it harder to deal with. Sebastian is back to his 2 hourly feeds at night again but thankfully I've been able to express about 100mls a day. If he doesn't start getting any better I'll be having DH give him one feed at night. I have my 6wk check up on Wednesday, man the time flys and it will be interesting to see how much weight Sebastians put on.

Niki - Glad the twins are settling better for you and make sure you get yourself a sleep in tomorrow.

Bub2luv - I'm sorry to hear your DD is having a ruff patch. I hope things get better for both you and her.

Jo9999 - Where as I find it easier this time round with being more relaxed and understanding whats going on I feel all I ever do now days is run between DS1, DS2 and house work. I probably get one hour a day where both boys are asleep in which i make myself sleep or at least rest. Wouldn't give this up for anything in the world though :D

joy2me - Welcome to your sleepless thread :) I have less than a three year gab between my boys but surprisingly I also forgot quite a bit. At least I found it came back to me with in the first few weeks.

mumma_jessy - Lol Jessy I so get where you're coming from and sometimes when someone else comes up to you and says 'Don't worry it will get better' you just want to slap them. One other thing you must remember its your god given right to feel ****ty, frustrated and annoyed etc. take care of yourself as well sounds like your doing a fantastic job.

jojo72 - Glad to hear thinks seem to be getting better. Like your DP's Grandma said take as much time to yourself as you can when hes at home. Ask him to look after Xavier between feeds so you can have a bath or sleep. Having a baby can be one of he most wonderful times in you're life and also one of the hardest. You'll enjoy it more if you feel better yourself.

Starlet - Urg I'm so jealous of you I'm dying to see the new Harry Potter but we just don't have a babysitter to call on at the moment. You have to tell me how good it was with out giving anything away.

Oh well have to leave it there and make dinner, still eating us out of house and home and DH is having a field day picking on me. I don't care though I'm pretty sure its because of the amount that Sebastian feeds which is making me so hungry. Also still having huge sugar cravings never used to be an overly sweet tooth person either???

Hope everyones having a great weekend!

2inblue - HP was good, but not QUITE as good as I expected it to be. If you have read the book, you will be a little disappointed in some parts, definitely more slow moving than the other films, but I guess it's getting to the crucial parts of the story now.

Oh and I have craved lots of sweet stuff lately too!

I am knackered, Jayden had is 5th birthday party at a play centre today, he had such a great time(and I got to catch up with the other kindy mums yay! lol). All us parents are so over school holidays now, so the party was a blessing lol. One of the mums also has a June bub(there is just over a week between our boys) and hers has hit 6kg already! Owen is not too far behind him, but he is a shorty compared to the other bubba lol.

I also have a major headache because we've been working on wedding plans again(we put them on hold just before I had Owen coz I was too grumpy to deal with it). My dad who is living overseas keeps asking what our budget is before he will contribute anything. He is like the only person who knows the 'real' date we're getting married as we planned to get married in Sept 08, but changed it to March 08. We're inviting everyone to our 'engagement party', but we are actually getting married LOL. Sort of had to tell dad so that he would be here and will have to tell our other family overseas so that they can try and come too. Just when I think I've worked out all the costs, etc, I realise that I've forgotten something. ARGH! Can't wait til it over now haha.

Hope ur all doing well and getting a bit more sleep!

Well last night was terrible DP didnt come home from work until 8pm cos he decided to have a few drinks after work (I was so upset because i needed him to help out with dd so i could get some sleep) - i had a cry after talking to him realising he wouldnt be back for a while and then the in laws called and I burst into tears :crying: (I never do that with the in laws but i told the MIL what was happening) and the MIL said not to worry she is going to put him in line when she gets here. The in laws should be here around 7pm tonight actually from NZ and I'm looking forward to the help so I can get some rest.

DP helped me through the night with dd thank God because I was just physically exhausted and feeling emotional with sore nipples, mum and son gone, the heat rash on dd, sleep deprivation and DP made it really hard to feed.

I dont know I was just a mess last night :o DP finally understood at 4am after an unsettled night with dd and apologized for not being home earlier to help me out - he's a first time dad and i just don't think he realises how much i need him to help out with dd at the moment, the house and just to have him around for support and hugs you know.:hugs:

For someone who is 32 I feel like i'm just not handling it all too well - is this normal?
I gave dd a bath tonight and i feel so bad to see the heat rash on her tiny body and just wish i could take it away - i feel emotional about it and just terrible. She loved the bath tho' and felt like i finally did something right (with the right water temperature, bathing her and she enjoyed it)
I think i must be a perfectionist or control freak and like everything organised and in order and having a newborn is just the complete opposite and I just can't control anything and perfectionism is a lofty ideal that is just going to ruin me if i don't snap out of it. sorry guys for the vent I've soooo got to get some sleep aye. Hi Guys,
Very quick post. Just had to mention a thing I have seen on the internet to you Bub2love. It's called the baby elevator. It is basically a big thing that you can put on your change table or in the cot on on the ground etc. Your baby lies in it and it keeps their head elevated to help with reflux. I was looking into getting one for Xavier if he gets really bad. He's much better in his bouncer as well. Google baby elevator and you will find it. It was invented by an aussie mum. I think they're about $60.

Joy2Me- I was completely falling apart a couple of weeks ago. I too think it's really hard when I just want to control the way things are going to go. I've just resigned myself to the fact that I can't control it. He is also getting more settled as he gets older. So, I think that yes, it's completely normal to feel the way you do. As long as you keep in mind that things will get better and make sure you ask for help and try to sleep lots. Being tired makes everything worse! Take it easy.

Starlet- I can't believe you've been to the movies full stop let alone 3 times!

Hope everyones well. Talk more soon. Jo

Hey Kasey Both DD and Ethan love to sleep on the belly, im also very parnoid but when i put ethan in bed with us, i put him on his tummy cause i know he will sleep for longer. ( he usually only comes in from 5.30 am on wards.
As for your Ethan with Dakota, maybe try to explain why he can't put his hand over her mouth, ie it will hurt her and explain what he can do instead, ie come and tell you she is crying. If you have a play pen maybe you could put dakota in there to stop Ethan from getting to her.

Hi Everyone,

Jo i know how you feel, i have been crying most nights while feeding.im so exhusted come nights, i just HATE the night feeds and really not coping this time round.

Well now that i have caught up, ill give a bit of an update.
Im back to my pre pregnacy weight i was with DD. Never got back there with her, it seems that i lost 7 kgs after the birth, more than i put on in the pregnacy. Though i think i have put a kg back on:o and im in my sistersbridal party in 10 weeks, but im going "bridget jones" underware, control everything.
Ethan is a much settled baby compared to DD, maybe it's just easier second time round. Im finding it harder to stay sane though, racing between DD and Ethan and house work, i know every one said to leave it, but i find it more frustrating, when the house is mess.
I have lost count how many times Ethan has spewed on me, and im not talking little ones either. It's becoming a daily occurance, never realised how much milk they can swallow. Im going through bibs like no tomorrow, never used bibs at this age with DD, and talk about washing. My washing machine has stopped spinning loads when Ethan was 3 days old, so i have hand wring every thing. Thsnkfully im using flat terry toweling nappies and not fitted ones.
DD has been good with Ethan, only in the last couple of days she has been interacting with him. Patting him on the head ect, prior to that she was never interested in him.
DH has gone back to work today. Though he has left me with both kids the last two days, and im struggerling with the lack of sleep. ( and i thought it was hard when DD was baby, at least i could sleep when she did)
Though DH isn't excatly the greatest help, doesn't see house work that needs to be done, doesn't watch the clock in keeping up with DD's routien, can't breast feed.
Anyway enough from me, DD is bugging me to put Ethan down so we can make Jelly:rolleyes: ( yeah this icon is back)

Good afternoon everyone,

I finally have a minute to myself so thought i'd make it useful. Both kids are asleep!!! Have been lucky if i can go to the toilet in peace! I actually feel like i've accomplished something today! We are all out of our pj's, floors vacuumed and mopped, load of clothes washed and hung, load of blankets washed and hung, finished putting Dakota's clothes away and it's only lunch time! I'm lucky if we are out of our pj's by now LOL!! I would just rather spend time with my kids then ignore them all day and get the housework done. Stephen's been having a bit of a dig at me (in a nice way) about not doing much. God i do look after 2 kids aswell! Oh well!!!

The kids have been really well. Ethan has settled down alot with Dakota. Except for when he tried to pick her up by her feet on sunday. Well he had her head off the ground. think he thought he was helping her by getting her so we could go to the park. He thought i was screaming at him when i was screaming at DF to help and got really upset. I explained that i wasn't cranky with him he just couldn't pick Dakota up. I told him he could help me but not do it by himself. It seems to have sunken in, the only thing that has so far. Haven't tried a naughty corner / chair cause i haven't had too. Touch wood he is finally realising that he can't hurt her.

Dakota's doing really well. Feeding great settling well. She can get a bit unsettled at night when you put her into bed after a feed but usually doesn't last long, maybe half hour so can't really complain. She also gets a little unsettled early in the morning but that doesn't last long either, she just normally lays there and grunts but isn't actually awake. If she gets too worked up i just stick her in bed with me and she's all good. That is until Ethan comes in and gets cranky and wants to cuddle mummy. I just stick her back in her bed and he's happy!!

Anyways, someone is stirring. Bugger, don't get a 3hr sleep out of her like i did yesterday. Or maybe she's stopped already! Anyways, must go check on her.

Sorry for no persy's. Have a great day everyone

Kasey

Congratulations Jennifer20au :smiliedance: Welcome Aisha - She is gorgeous!

jojo72 - :hugs: thanks for the info on the baby elevator. I have just ordered one.

joy2me - I know how frustrating it can be when DH doesnt understand how much they are needed at home. My DH is great at helping out if I ask him too but I feel like a real nag if I am asking him to help all the time. I get really jelous of him when he goes out with his mates or does whatever he likes without giving me or the kids a seconds thought. :hugs: Motherhood isnt always easy and can be very challenging at times. I too have felt a bit out of control at times and I think most people do.

Starlet - good luck with the wedding plans.

2 in blue - Congrats on the first smile! My DD has started giving lots of little grins but im not sure if there genuine yet or still wind

My poor little girls have both come down with a cold and I think I might be getting it too. I just had to put saline spray up Elis nose to clear it a bit so I could give her a feed. The poor little thing was gasping for air while trying to drink at the same time. It is so scary when they get their first bugs at such a young age. I am feeling a little glad that I have the cold too because at least Eli will be getting my antibodies through the milk to help her fight it off.

Elis been off her feeds a bit since Sunday - she has been feeding 4 hourly day and night and having smaller feeds which has really eased her reflux and wind pains. Thankfully she is still getting lots of wet nappies so I know she is still getting enough milk.

I am off to have a cuppa and put my feet up while both girls are asleep...Ciao

 Hi everyone - our laptop got a virus and we only just got it back yesterday from being fixed, so i've read the thread caught up and wanted to get back to you.

Bub2luv -dd gets the hiccups all the time and at the most inconvenient times like after a feed, burped and about to be put into bed lol. She sleeps soundly when she's lying close to the chest which has come from all our family staying in the last month wanting to cuddle her to sleep(thanks to our families rrggh) How are you and elis has the cold gone yet?

Jo9999- It's got easier now dd is two weeks old and I notice dd gets windy too and my MIL suggested gripe water (actually she went ahead and gave it to her anyway without asking me first:eek: I'm so glad she's gone back to NZ yesterday lol but it did help)

2inblue- thanks for the welcome to the sleepless thread lol you were right it's all coming back to me now(took a few wks) but I feel much more confident in being a mum - thks for the encouragement. With the breastfeeding I am really hungry and really thirsty alot and I have a jug of drink by my bed all the time and will drink about 2-3 litres, as well as 3 meals and snacks in between each day, my nurse said to steer clear of solo drink because of the caffeine in it, chocolate because of the cacao and other things and when i ate a peanut slab we had a very unsettled night it was not good so i'm watching what i eat and how it effects dd.

Starlet - i love the idea of an éngagement party and getting married on the night, I was hoping to elope myself lol

Niki- My hat goes off to you with twins and I'm sure they will be clever, intelligent and charming as they get older (i was born on the same day 14/06 lol) No, I wasn't getting any time to myself because we had our families from NZ staying with us for the last month to see dd so life has revolved around baby and them - I did manage to get out in the last two days walking & shopping with dd which i really enjoyed and now everyones gone (sigh of relief) I finally have my space back and can get on with my life.

jojo72- Thks for understanding, you are so right and now the family has gone it will make it easier to settle dd, sleep and just get out of the house in the fresh air yaay:yelclap:

Adria- I had a few nights where I was just physically exhausted and cried too and with sore nipples it was just a nightmare. Is your washing machine spinning again? Good to see your bub has put on weight that has to make you feel good aye. i can't wait to get dd weighed because she feels heavy.

Jennifer - your dd has long hair like my bub and she's really cute congratulations

Ethan's Mummy- I can't believe Ethank picked up Dakota by the feet ( it sounds funny now but I'm sure you almost had a heart attack at the time  you poor thing)You are lucky it sounds like Dakota is a contented little baby, sleeping well and settled.

I want to get a good book on sleeping for baby ( I'm looking for some practical guidebooks with god tips and ideas to help with settling dd and anything else i can finds thats going to help - any recommendations anyone??

I also read yesterday how it's easy for couples to get competitive over who is the most tired (we were starting to get like that - I would say how tired i was and instead of understanding dp would just say how tired he was and i would think you selfish **) so I swore I wasnt going to do that and from now on I will take care of myself with sleep, good food etc, so i can take good care of dd and support dp
- I said to dp last night I'm sorry, I know you are tired too and everything changed, he was alot nicer and sweeter too with just a bit of understanding.

Talk soon gotta start the housework.

 Hi Guys just hoping i can join in here.

We had our DD#2 on the 25/6 Aleeyah Hope she is going pretty well now after spending four and a half days in special care due to retained lung fluid and also breathing problems. I think she still breathes a bit weird and fast when she is drinking her bottle but will ask the pead when we go in 2 weeks. She is quiet a fan of being awake at funny times this morning it was 2:10am till 4am that would be ok if i didnt have to get up when Kaylee wakes up. She gets pretty bad wind i think just wondering if anyone has any ideas on things to help her get rid if her wind pains?

Anyway Kaylee (DD#1) is staring to get used to not being the centre of attention anymore she just drives me bananas sometimes with her talking back all the time and getting every item of clothing out of her draws:banghead: but we will get there i guess.

Well i guess thats all for now look forward to chatting to you guys
Mel:)

Just a quick update for me, since last Monday we have all been sick with the flu. DH brought it home from work and although I'm almost over it myself DS1&2 have it pretty bad. It makes me rather sad to think that Sebastian is sick and hes only 6wks old. On top of which he wont take panadol, he gags and dry reaches (spiting it up) every time I try to give it to him. Unfortunately I was told that some babies just wont take it. All I can do is keep a close eye on him, thankfully though hes still feeding pretty well which seems to be helping keep his temp down.

I hope everyone is well and had a good weekend

Good morning everyone,

How are you all?? Hope everyone is good. Haven't been able to post lately but have been reading am lucky to have 5 minutes to myself these days!

Well both the kids are snotty and blocked up. Poor Dakota i feel sorry for her cause there's not much i can do. I have given her some dimetapp, didn't really want to cause felt she was too little for medicine, but everytime she lays down she gets all snotty and finds it hard to breath. So figured if it's going to help her why not. DS isn't too bad, but first thing this morning had a bit of a cough so hope it's not going to get too bad. Apart from that she is doing well. Weighed her the other day and weighed in at 5.4kgs with clothes on and according to the lady at the chemist is 56 cms long. She will be 8 weeks old on Sunday and will have to get her needles next week. Not looking forward to that at all. Can't believe my baby is almost 2 months old already. She's doing really well at night. I have been giving her a bottle of EBM, usually bout 160mls, around 7.30-8pm and some nights she doesn't wake for a feed till 4am. So i'm quite impressed with that!

Sorry for the me post and no persies. Was just a quick before going to get Ethan's lunch ready. As he WILL be having a sleep today!! He decided yesterday not to have one. I gave up after he'd been in his room for nearly 2 hours!!! I certainly hope he's not getting to the age where he doesn't want it anymore. I quite like the time i get to myself (if dakota's asleep that is!) even if it is only an hour!

Anyways best run. Hello to everyone

Sorry I haven't been around, it's been madness around here!! I am so glad DS1 is back at school now, but this rain we've had is making it difficult. You'd all laugh seeing me try to juggled a three year old and bub and umbrellas, walking across and oval to kindy! But none of us got wet lol.

Owen is thriving sooo well, he is already 6kg(2kg up from birth weight). He can push himself up on his arms and roll over!! My CHN didn't believe me when we went and saw her yesterday, then she put him on his tummy and he rolled for her! He is getting very vocal now and it's very cute when he tries to 'talk' to me.

My DP is missing him like mad. Only 1 week til he's home!!

My milk supply has been dropping drastically and I couldn't figure out what was doing it...then I found out that the pill my doc put me on(the normal one, not the mini pill) is drying me up! I'v been trying to get it back up but it's not going so well, so Owen has been having some formula too(he dosn't throw this up like he does with the breast milk either!).

All in all things have been good, I should be here a bit more now. I have had one of my besties over for the last fews days(she lives 7 hours away).

Hope u are all doing well!

Oops, I almost forgot, here is a pic of my three boys that I took this morning!

Hi, How is everyone?

Things here are going great. Last night Eli went 8hrs between feeds! OMG I really panicked when I woke up at 5am and she was still asleep :o . I jumped up and grabbed her out of her bed and she immediately started yelling for food  . When I fed her at approx 9pm she kept fussing and pulling my nipples (ouch that hurts) so I pulled her off before she has finished. She was fussing for more food for a while after so I assumed she would be up again before midnight for a feed. Her tummy must have been really full though for her to sleep so long - maybe she was fussing because she had made a piggy of herself and was overfull but didnt want to stop booby time ?????

Amazingly her reflux has almost totally dissapeared over the last few weeks. She very rarely spits up milk at all anymore and bring up her wind really quickly and easily after feeds :yelclap: . To all you mums still battling through the early weeks of being really unsettled with sleepless nights keep your chins up - thing definetly do get a lot better with time.

Goota go - both girls are waking from their naps, more soon, CJ

Starlet
29-07-2007, 15:11
LOL Niki, yep it'll be my 'week off' when he comes home. Actually probably not as he is now a manager at work they want him to do a 3 day course to get his liquor license when he is home. Ugh.

CJ, glad to hear things going so well! Owen doesn't spew as much any more either thank goodness. He is nowhere near as bad as what Jayden was(he used to projectile spew every feed). He went 9 hours without a feed last night! Woohoo! Only it was 4am that he was up. Mind you, it's better than getting up twice a night.

Anyway, he has woken up for another feed now so I gotta run!

Hi everyone, love all the new pics of the bubs. Just realised I haven't posted any of Ryan yet, here he is at 4 weeks and with his big sis.
We are doing well, but wanting to think about starting a routine yet and also moving Ryan into his own room. He doesn't seem quite ready yet though, he is not yet sleeping for any single long periods, but is doing 2-3 hour blocks in the day, and 3-4 hour blocks at night, so we are reasonably comfortable with that but want to work towards longer at night (although he is so much better than Kayla was at this age, she was 1-2 hour blocks till about 6 weeks).
Would love to here how all the other Mums are doing!

HI ladies,

Sorry I haven't been in much, things are hectic atm, but finally slowing down a little.

Wynter is 6 weeks old this Thursday, anyone else absolutely amazed by how fast time is slipping by? I thought it went fast with the first two, it seems te more kids you have the faster time goes!

Doing great at feeding, had a bad fussy week last week where she hung from my boob almost 24/7 for 4-5 days, but my supply must have boosted and now she is reasonably happy again!

Wynter is having trouble in the evenings though, she is settled all day then at about 6-7pm she starts screaming. I feed her but she kees screaming. Any ideas? Is it possible for bubs to only get colic at night? I definately think she is having tummy troubles of some kind, she is fast asleep then wakes up yelling and pulling her little knees up suddenly, then goes off to sleep again. I feel so sorry for her, most nights this goes on till bout 11pm.

Love the piccies everyone, must show off more of my little one again soon. Hope you and your bubs are all well, and sounds like some of you are actually getting some decent sleep (lucky b!tches, lol)

just a quick one today to say jordan slept 6hours last night woop woop, Sophie slept 4hours

MJ sounds like it could be wind or constipation. can u get some of those drop, forgotton the name, to see if it helps her abit

Jo9999
31-07-2007, 15:24
Jessy - I too was having tummy problems in the evenings with Ryan. I seem to have worked through it and he is a lot happier.
In a book I read they say that it could be caused by a build up of wind from the day - i.e. at each feed they are left with a very small bit of wind, it gets bigger each feed until by the end of the day you have a baby full of wind. They say to try winding every 3 mins to see if that helps, if it does lengthen the gaps between winding until you find something that works for you.
Another explanation was that it can be caused from feeding too often - some experts think that new milk added to not fully digested milk equals tummy ache.
I have also starting using Infants Friend drops which seem to help him expel the gas. He also has periods where he seems almost constipated. When he seems like that I help him out a bit by taking off his nappy and holding his legs up, he then often will go for a huge poop.
With a combination of all of that I seem to have a lot more content baby (I thought he had colic a couple of weeks ago). I am not sure which one is actually helping him, or maybe its a combination of everything!
Hope that helps anyway.

Hi June mummies how is everyone going and how are all the june babies getting along ?

jojo72
01-08-2007, 12:11
Hi everyone,
I've been here but just reading. Xavier has been pretty happy. He has started on zantac for his reflux and seems more content. He isn't spending most of his wake time crying. Now he wants to look at everything and gets overtired and cries!! He still doesn't want to be in bed during the day. He wants to sleep on me (either on the couch or in his baby bjorn), in his pram or in the car!

I love cuddling on the couch but I can't get much done like that. For example....eating, showering and going to the loo!!

He is really difficult when he's overtired. He will get himself in such a state that he will scream his head off for hours. That is very hard. They're the times when I swear that I'm NEVER EVER having another baby! And then in the middle of it all when I'm changing his nappy he'll smile at me. It just makes your heart melt. Little trickster!

He hasn't really got any routine that he's displaying yet. He will be in a pattern for a couple of days then change. He does have a big sleep overnight even if he doesn't go down til 2 or 3 am. He will usually sleep for 5 hours at least. So in comparison to 3 weeks ago I'm getting heaps of sleep. It is making life a lot easier. Last night I had two lots of 4 hours of sleep. Yipee!

So that's us. Not much happening. We're going away this week for a few days to country NSW to visit DP's family and a couple of nights in Sydney. I keep thinking of extra stuff we need to take with us! It's amazing how someone so little can need so much stuff! And then we have to fit a 35kg dog in the back of the station wagon too. I don't think we'll be able to pack a big bag of our own! I hope the trip goes well. I'm a bit concerned about everyone wanting to cuddle him. I have decided we have to be firm and say no he's sleeping. And make a joke that they can come cuddle when he's awake at 2am! I think they'll get the hint. Hopefully! Anyway. We're off to my work to show him off and check out a friend's new engagement ring. Hope everyone is well. Jo

Hey there guys,

Like the mummy before meI have just found this thread,... My little charmer of a son named Nicholas was born on the 4th June,... He was breast fed for a couple of days, I ended up putting him on the bottle adn had him on the breast, yes it was difficult but due to so much pressure that we are under with being told that it is natural to breast feed and be a mum - eeekkkk, I then ended up having a little person with a bad case of reflux/colic and ended up in hospital on the 3rd week with a bad case of it for the 2nd and 3rd week. We have been battling with it now for the past 7 of his 8 weeks,.. I'm just so over it now,.. I need some relief of mummy to mummy talks,.. :crying: He brought up his milk 5 times this afternoon from 3pm to 5pm,... Anyway enough of my sad stories other than that I have a 2 yr old as well and he is doing rally well, he loves his little brother alot, which is really good,.. My DH had 5 weeks off work and that was really good,..
Hope everyopne is doing well.

Hi there Jessy,...
My little guy has reflux,.... reflux and colic can happen at any time of the day or night, do yourself a favour and get Wynter checked out out by a professional, don't do what I did and wait until it drives you absolutely bonkers and snappy at everyone,...
I hope this helps,..

Hey guys, sorry this will be another short post. I'm pretty much feeling like the living dead at the moment. Everyone is now over the flu which is great but Sebastian has gone back to waking at least 3 times a night for food or with wind. During the Day Damian is finding it hard as he wants to play with Sebastian. Its very cute but poor Sebastian is being woken up to often and finding it hard to get back to sleep after. Other than that we are all well and loving the smiles, goo's and arrr's we are getting from Sebastian.

I hope everyone is well and not having to many problems.

Hi all. Wow long time since i posted!! Well it's been a tough 5 weeks with all the sickness here, We all ended up with gastro..except ethan (thankfully) that was so not fun, all the washing ect. On the washing note, it got my new machine (at a really CHEAP price, due to knowing the right people;)) the day gastro started. It is SOOO GOOD! push button everything, only thing it doesn't do is put the clothes in the machine!!
DD is gone for the weekend to Nannas with her Aunty. Oh the sleep im planning on having, said to DH never looked so forward to having JUST a newborn at home.
Ethan has put on kilo in 4 weeks, now 4.4kg already out of 0000:eek: DD was in them until 12 weeks.
Ethan is a huge eater!! during the day he will feed 1.5 - 3 hrs, night is 3-4 hrs. He is a much more settled baby than DD was and at night after a feed i can put him down while he is still awake and he will go off to sleep, unless he still has wind. I'm not coping well with night feeds, can't wait until they get down to 1 feed or no feeds.
He also has conjuctivits or a blocked tear duct. Anybody else got this problem, the drops don't seem to help a great deal, and massage, doesn't seem to make it any better either, any ideas?
DD is great with him, not to clingy or touchy with him, but hates it when other people ask to take him home.
Anyway since DD is gone, better get some things done.
BTW i love seeing every one pics, i will have to get DH to put some up later.

HI ladies,
Wynter is having trouble in the evenings though, she is settled all day then at about 6-7pm she starts screaming.
Mumma_jessy Ethan can be the same, wind is worst at night i have a couple of theories.
Ethan is put in a rocker during the day, therefore he is more upright, making wind easier to get up. Also during the day it's not as stressful as trying to get some sleep, so you have more time to pick up/carry around and wind is comming up more.
Also i have also heard eating well, a nice healthy lunch, grilled meat with veg/salad, wholegrain breads ect, makes for better milk and less likely upset baby. But HEY! who has time to make a lunch like that, im struggerling to get a dinner made like that. I do try for a salad, tuna multigrain sandwhich.
Oh with DD i did use infacol, you can buy from supermarket, but my midwife said not to use it this time round, no idea why, but it was great and getting tempted to buy it.
My midwife suggested to drink fennel tea for windy/colic babies.

Good luck jojo72 for your trip away.

Welcome Cyndi35!!

Someone earlier was asking about things to do for wind, sorry i can't remember who it was, but other than what i have suggest above is to try different positions of burping. Over the shoulder, sitting position on lap, lying across the lap on tummy. I also find lying down 10seconds or so and then sitting up or over the shoulder. Doing rubbing circles over the back or from belly button down massaging clockwise circles.
Stopping feeds halfway through to burp and re starting feeds.
Not saying any of these things will do the trick, cause sometimes im just as worked up trying to get the wind up.

Both Ryan and Kayla have a cold at the moment. Ryan is sleeping a lot which is great!
Had him weighed yesterday - 5.23kg so he is growing fast! He is more than a kg heavier than Kayla was at this age, and he is exclusively breastfed while Kayla was supplemented. So I am quite proud!
Wind... seems to be everyone's enemy, we have ours reasonably under control now, spicy food was a big trigger for Ryan.
Good to hear from you Mandy, was wondering how you were doing, we must catch up again soon! Is Ranique more interested by Ethan yet?

Hi girls!

Sorry I haven't posted in ages, but I have been reading and keeping up-to-date on how you are all going.

I just wrote a long post, with personals and everything...and I lost it, argghh! Don't ya hate that?! So here goes again...

We are going well, Eva is 12 weeks on Monday, omg how time flies! My little girl is growing up! She is doing well and putting on weight, but is still a small baby. She is only 4.5kgs now, but in the last week has put on 265gms! That is the most she has ever put on I think. She still fits most of her 0000 outfits, so she is getting plenty of weat out of them!

Starlet - how are you going? Owen sleeping 9 hours! I am so jealous! Eva is sleeping 6-7 hours a night now, so that's not too bad, only she won't go down til usually at least 1am. Better than it used to be, I was going to bed at about 2.30am every night, by the time Eva would finish a feed and settle.

mumma_jessy - How is Wynter doing? Have you tried the Infants Friend yet? I find it really good. Eva sounds just like Wynter with her unsettled nights, hence why I don't get to bed til early hours of the morning! Wynter sounds like she has wind, but then it is probably cluster feeding as well. Eva does that most nights too, drives me crazy sometimes as I can't get anything done, but I found that having two of the lactating boosting cookies (recipe at http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/forums/showthread.php?t=29207) late arvo really helps my supply at night. Also, I bought a Fisher Price cradle swing, and omg, it has been a god-send for when you just want to get the dinner prepared etc. It's the busiest time of the day, and that's when bubs wants to be unsettled! Eva calms straight down in it and goes to sleep or just plays with the toys hanging from it.

Niki - How are the twins? I take my hat off to you - I don't know how you do it; I find it hard enough with one! Hope they are sleeping well for you still.

monique13 - How are things with you? You must have your hands full, as you havent posted much for a while! Mind you, look how how often I have posted, and I only have one! :o

Jo9999 - How is Ryan going? How often do you use the Infants Friend? I have it, but tend to just use it as a last resort, but maybe I can use it more often?

jojo72 - Hope you enjoyed the trip. Had to laugh about the dog in the back as well! Hope you managed with everyone wanting to cuddle Xavier. It can be hard hey?

Cyndi35 - Welcome to our thread! You have had a difficult time haven't you? Hope it is getting easier, but feel free to whinge whenever you want, that's what we are here for! I couldn't do it without the support of everyone here on Bubhub!

2inBlue - Hope you are having a better day. Hope Sebastian is sleeping longer for you. When you don't have sleep, you just can't function with anything. (Probably why I haven't posted for a while!)

Hollyhotlips - How are things? You haven't been around for a while.

Bub2luv - Is Eli still sleeping that well for you? I hope so, cuz that is great! That is so good that her reflux has disappeared!!

Adria - Hope Ranique has gotten over her gastro. That must have been aweful for you. How's Ethan going?

Ethan'smummy - How do you get everything done before lunchtime??? You are so organised! How is Dakota? Is Ethan better with her now? Not trying to pick her up again? Hope everything is going well.

Jennifer20au - How is Aisha? Hope things are going well.

Joy2me - Hope things are going better for you. I am the same with trying to continue the perfectionist thing. It is so hard to keep up with, as I have always been like that, but with a new baby, it is a struggle. I actually wish I could just let go and not care about the house!

KiwiMumma - How is motherhood treating you? How is Bella? We miss you!

Worm'smum - You haven't been around for a while either, hope you re ok.

Bindi186 - Coo-eee???? Where are you??!! Hope you're having a good day!

Well, I think that is everybody?? Phew!! Sorry if I missed someone! Just loaded pics on photobucket, so I will go post them now on the June pics thread. Have a great day everyone.

Luv Jen

Adria - missed your post as I was busy typing my long-winded one! Eva has had a blocket tear duct from the start too, I don't have drops, but massaging doesn't seem to make it go away. I find the best thing is a bit of breast milk in her eye a couple of times a day and that at least stops it from becoming cluggy, just watery.

Jo9999 - Omg, well done you for the weight Ryan has put on! That must make you feel good! Hope the colds go away for the kids.

Really better go this time! Bye!

I also found this on the web today about colic/wind in breastfed babies.
http://www.parentingweb.com/lounge/newman/nm_colic.htm

Hey Jo Ranique is becoming more interested, but still not over protective, trying to hug/pick him up, but she does love him.

Butterfliez, does Ava still have the blocked tear duct?? I was doing the breast milk in the eye before the drops, but it didn't clear it so i saw the gp and got drops. I will go back to the breast milk though, at least it kept it fairly clear, not drugs and kinda than cold drops from the fridge.

Hi everyone sorry it's been sooo long - i've had probs with the compy and just busy like you all now lol

Te Aomihia is now 4 wks and 2 days and i think i'm still a discouraged perfectionist and it's coming out in the house being clean now (DP happily makes a mess everywhere and i can't stand living in a mess) - well he goes away on sunday for 3 weeks work in Qld so i''ve decided i'm going to spring clean and enjoy the space.

I never noticed all the mess he actually makes when i was working but now i'm a sahm i can't stand cleaning up after him rrggghh

My bubby got weighed last wednesday and she has put on another pound since birth yippee
last night she fed every 2 hours but i havent had that in a while so it's ok otherwise she was sleeping anything from 4 -6 hours at night and 7 hours if we were really lucky but you can see how it changes so much you can't rely on anything lol

For wind and colic i bought infants friend and gripe water - i havent tried any other. I found the infants friend helped dd to poo I gave it in her bottle with a little water and gripe water helped bringing up wind and i give the correct measurement by teaspoon as she doesnt seem to mind the taste and will slowly sip it down.

The Dunstan baby language DVD says if you don't get the wind up it will go down further into the bowels with each feed and then you can get the "5 o'clock grizzlies" with the wind and colic. It then goes on to show colic holds to help bring up the wind. I like the one across the knees - our dd has her stomach on one leg and her head lying on/ just over the other leg and we rub her back and letting her stomach rub against the leg helps to push the air around the bowels and we usually get a burp sometimes after a while and farts lol
another i like is over the shoulder one hand on the bum to keep bub balanced and the other rocking her back and forth over the shoulder and her stomach is rubbing against the shoulder. there's a few and you just have to alternate and find what works.
I'm really watching what i eat and drink too as that caused alot of trouble with baby being unsettled earlier on - no more chocolate, sweets, caffeine, tea, soft drinks etc:ecomcity:

talk soon

hi everyone

sorry havent been on for ages, my parents have been here and my dad was only here for 2wks so making the most of it.

katie is nearly 8 wks and already in size 00!!! she is growing so quick. off to health visitor later ans she will be weighed (1st time since she was about 1wk old) so be interesting.

she now sleeps from around 10.30pm til 5.30am which is great, esp for dh as he was the one getting up (i just didnt hear her! :o )

we are going to decorate her room as we've swapped rooms - hers will be pink - and then sge will be in there at nights in her cot as gettint too big for her bassinette.

i had to go into hospy as had a lot of bleeding - turned out a large piece of placenta left. spent all day up there, not happy :( but on the mend now

how is everyone else going?

Hi Laides!

Thanx for the info on colic. Wynter has been a bit better over the weekend, it seems i get a day off occasionally, but it's usually back with a vengance the next day.

We had her six weeks check up last week, she has put on 1.5kg since birth, chubbing up rather nicely! Apart from the colic she is happy & healthy.

I'm feeling a bit better this week so far too, getting usd to the colic and the crying at night, and thankful she isn't too bad in the day when the other two need me!

Sorry gotta fly, she is hungry!

Niki - Goodluck with your outting today, i'm sure you'll be fine!

HollyHotLips
09-08-2007, 10:32
does your bub stay awake during the day?

Katie is awake the majority of the day, she hardly sleeps at all unless she's in her pushchair or car seat in which case she usually sleeps. Can be hard as she just wont settle in bed for a sleep, keeps herself awake, so cant always get on and do stuff (like work!!!) but not much else I can try.

Thanks Monique :) Bleeding has gone now (touch wood!) thank god, after nearly two months it was really getting me down.

Hope everyone is good today?

hi everyone!
to answer your question niki, sounds like it's the same as holly... xavier will spend waaay too much time awake during the day. he can really only handle 1.5 hours awake max. generally he'll only sleep in my arms, in his pram,in his baby bjorn or in the car. makes things very hard! hence i'm sitting here on the couch typing one handed. too much effort to type capital letters this way! but he is having a lovely sleep. the downside is that i've been up since 8.30 and i'm still in my pj's and haven't eaten yet. thinking of going to sleep school to sort it out.
talk more later, going to try and put him in bed, talking about food makes me realise i'm starving! jo

Eli had a few weeks of very liitle day sleep but I now have her in a good routine and she will sleep approx 1 to 1.5 hours between feeds (3 to 4 hourly b/feeds). I need to get her into her cot (or pram or car seat) exactly 1 hour after feeding, swaddled with dummy and she goes straight to sleep. Anything longer than an hour and she is overstimulated or overtired and will scream and only have short powernaps. Once she does get overtired I have trouble settling her for the rest of the day. I find that if I wait until she grizzles to put her to bed its too late because she is already overtired.

I find that it helps to have a set routine before naptime so they learn that its time to sleep. I always change nappy, sing the same tune as I am swaddling her, kiss her on the forehead and say sweet dreams as I put her into her bed. If she grizzles I always put her dummy in then roll her onto her side and pat her bottom until she goes quiet and then leave her room. Sometimes I need to do this a few times until she nods off.

Thats what works for me - It may not work for everyone but it has done wonders for me getting Eli to settle in the day. She has changed from having a few 20min powernaps and being grizzly a lot to sleeping approx 6 to 8hrs total in the daytime (as well as 8pm to 7am with only one feed during the night).

Owen is like that too! he will wake up for 10-15 mins and drop off again lol. He does this often through the day though, still sleeping all night! Woohoo! He sleeps for around 11-12 hrs a night without waking.

DP is flying back out to work tonight so I will be back more often. What's the bet the rain will start up again once he leaves ugh. Won't be too bad tho because I now have a baby sling, so taking the 3 kids into kindy won't be so bad lol.

Hello lovely ladies & bubbies!

Bub2luv - My DD has cut down a bit lately too, will go longer between feeds, esspecially at night :smiliedance:

Starlet - Hope you had a great birthday hun!

Niki - Wynter sleeps a lot too, except in the evenings unfortunately, when i wanna sleep

jojo72 - Hope your little one starts sleeping soon. My DD sleeps better in the car or moving about too, I have a rocker with a vibrating button that works wonders (guess she thinks she's still in the car?) Let us know what you learn at sleep school if you go!

Wynter is going ok, has a cold atm though, all snuffy with a cough and all she has done all day is sleep. Luckily she is still feeding pretty well, although she hardly fed at all yesterday and I was a bit worried. Might take her to the Dr tomorrow, I'm really nervous when she is still so little, even if it is just a cold!

On a brighter note, her colic seems to have settled down a bit, woo hoo!

Ethan is 6.5 weeks and still feeding every 2-3 hrs around the clock. It drives me balmey. I havn't had him weighd in two weeks, but he is getting so heavy, filling out and his clothes are becoming small on him. He feeds for about 10 minutes, so i know he is getting plenty.

 Hi everyone long time no hear - the compy went back to the shop for repairs the other week because someone spilt a hot drink on it (thank God they were able to fix it)

Te Aomihia our girl is 6 wks old now and has put on another pound. She is now 5 kg and grown 4.5 cm taller since birth unbelievable "no wonder she has been feeding so much with all of that growing going on.

She is lots of smiles now and Dp is away for work for another 2 wks at the moment but he was talking to her over the phone tonight and she started cooing back - I haven't heard her cooing that much before so it's nice.

I'm enjoying it now and all of the above makes up for the shyt time i had in the beginning with no sleep and sore and cracked nipples lol

i've been getting her to sleep around 8pm and she will wake for a feed 2-3 times before 6am so somewhere in that i wil get about 7 hrs sleep for myself.

i've had her sleeping with me the last two wks and it's helped me get a better night's rest.

i'm wanting another one too surprised myself, dp does too but after awhile...when is a good break before having another one ??

i need to lose weight now,any tips - what r u doing for exercise??

LOL Niki, don't blame ya! But you have TWO gorgeous little babies!

I dont know if we will have another, I would do it now if I could, but Owen is our 4th baby between us, I'm not sure if we could afford another any time soon, and I definitely wouldn't be able to do it with DP still working away!

I reckon a 2 year age gap is pretty good, but I like the 3 year gap between my first two and Owen, they are both very independant which means they can do some things themselves while I'm doing things for Owen.

Exercise...well, who has time for the gym anymore? Not me lol. WE bought a treadmill(for my birthday) and I walk on it for at least 30 mins everyday.

I also bought some dance aerobic dvdscoz I love to dance...man I am so unco-ordinated since being pregnant! Will take me a while to get back into the swing of things. And OMG I have too many jiggly bits for my liking!!!

I thought i was very maternal until i had 1. Emotionally i don't think i could handle anymore. I'm actually itching to get back to waork, only 5 weeks to go, But it's only 4 hours at night, so im only away while the kids are sleeping.

Hello everyone, we are doing great, Ryan is a good baby and sleeps till around 4am has a quick feed and then till around 8am. We are still co sleeping but I will move him into his own room when the weather warms up a bit.
I also won't be having any more children any time soon - my family is complete now and I'd like to get back to work part time next year. The only time I would consider a 3rd would be a bit later when these 2 are self sufficient.
Kayla is still being great with Ryan, such a little helper and she tells me often how much she loves him :)
Re exercise, I try to walk 30 mins every morning but once I have a bit better routine going I will be joining a gym, I can't wait! Guaranteed time to myself for an hour every morning and apparently the one I have chosen has a great childcare.
Would love to hear how some of the Mummies we don't hear from much are getting on.

Owen is such a happy boy, he rarely cries, just smiles. Oh and he laughed the other day. His latest trick is to poke his tongue out past his lips. I will do it back and he smiles but if I poke it out too far and he sees my tongue ring, he frowns at me! LOL.

Have had wedding stuff coming out of my ears this week, but I realised there is only 6 months to go, so I have to get a move on lol.

Wow its very quiet in here.

How is everyone doing? I hope you and your bubs are all well.

My little miss is growing sooo fast! She is starting to giggle now (funny little grunty giggles) when we blow raspberries on her tummy - its very cute.

Hi Ladies!

Hope you are al doing well??

Wynter is doing great, a very happy girl full of grins for me all the time now. Getting big, but still small enough to snugle nicely I'm so in love with her littleness, my other two were heffas!

I can't beleive some of you are planning the next bubs already!

But on that note, has anyone who is fully b/f got their period back yet?

TMI I haven't but had a bit of spotting after an little accident on DF's 30th (pulled out but still..) he has had the snip but only a few weeks ago so there still may be swimmers... The last couple of days I have had heavy CM and feel a little iffy. (but everyone here has had gastro his week so maybe thats it??)

I'm hoping i'm not pregnant, too close and then i'd have 4 to deal with, plus DF would loose it, i had to talk him into #3!!

Anyone else feeling a bit weird breast feeding? I hear that dryness is a side affect of b/f thats why i'm so worried about the cm issue...

Hi Mumma-jessy,
Unfortunately I got AF back at 7 weeks with both of my kids :banghead: . With DD1 I went to the doctor because I thought that it might have been post birth bleeding starting up again (it had just stopped the week before) but it was AF. The same thing happened this time despite having a fully breast fed bub feeding 3 hourly day and night. I too have had heavy, wet CM while breastfeeding.
I think that it might be possible to get pregnant before your period comes back but it is highly unlikely.

Have you tried a home preg test yet? What was the result?

On the baby issue, I would love to have another bub, but not yet. I just want to really enjoy my girls for a few years before trying for #3.

Hey all, Ethan is going well, sleeping heaps, he wakes for a feed and usually about an hour later he is screaming to back to bed. He doesn't like being held, he likes being in his own bed.
He is down to waking only once a night, hopefully he will start sleeping through as i start work in two weeks.
mumma jessy- Sorry TMI, but a few weeks ago we had a night of fun (with protection) and it was a little rough, i had some spotting the next day. A week later i started on the mini pill and had spotting for about a week, and nothing since.
Never had anything like that with DD. Don't think im pregnant...hope not.

Hi Everyone,
Long time since I've posted. Everyone has become a bit quiet. I wonder if you've all become like me. You've actually got time to do stuff rather than be stuck on the couch with the laptop and the baby!

A little update. Xavier is doing really well. We are very lucky that he has been sleeping all night for about the last 4 weeks. Usually from about 9pm to 8am. And for the last few days I can get him to have a couple of sleeps in his bed too. It's been great. I have a house that resembles the old mess instead of the disaster site it was turning into. I am eating breakfast before 9am and having a shower before midday!!

I am loving being a mum. He is so much fun. He loves doing baby stuff like listening to me sing songs and he kicks and squeal along. I never knew I'd have so much fun playing with him every day. Sometimes I get disappointed when he's getting tired. Anyway. Off to be for me. Hope everyone is well and getting lots of sleep and having lots of fun. Love Jo xo

Hi everyone
It's been awhile - i have my laptop back from the manufacturer so I've lost 4 weeks of catching up with you guys but in spare time i will try to read what i missed.
My baby girl Te Aomihia is now 10 weeks old and just gorgeous - still breastfeeding and the lactation boosting cookies recipe I found on bubhub has worked a treat in keeping my supply up. Unlike you guys i've had no fun with DP cos he's away working and have been raising dd by myself for the last month.
dd has had her first cold since saturday and now we just have to get rid of her runny nose poor baby. With the cold I had sore muscles above my stomach and up in my back which made me feel like vomiting, I lost energy and just had to go to bed; anyone else had this?
DD has slept through from 8pm to 5am which was amazing and I needed the sleep too
Anyway gotta go and get some sleep. Talk soon Jackie

hi, my little one was born on the 8th of june.....and for the last 2 weeks he's been sleeping from 7pm to 7am....but has turned in to an absolute nightmare during the day.....will nap only for 10 to 20 min tops......wants to be fed constantly (he weighs 6.9 kg) he's bottle fed...for the last week he's been screaming and wants to be held constantly...i'm at my wits end.......I don't know what to do with him...took him to the Gp and ECN and both have given him the all clear......is it a growth spurt????
any advice is both welcomed and needed..

Could be a growth spurt, it can certainly affect their routine, although DD has gone the other way this time and all she wants to do is sleep!!!

Glad to read everyone is OK, we are good here just dont get much time to be online these days...

DD is good, growing again and still sleeping through, now from about 10pm til 8.30pm :) Her milk intake has gone down to about 4 bottles a day, but I have just increased the amount to 240ml (from 210) as I fed her last night at 8.30 then at 9.30 put her to bed and offered her the bottle and she ate nearly the whole lot.......................!

Must admit I have been a bit down, I think a lot of it is the weather (will it ever stop raining?!) and missing my family.... :gloomy: DH and I have been arguing a lot although since we had words early on Friday it has been a lot better. I was thinking of a trip to the UK sometime next year but it's over $2K just for me...!!! So will have to put that idea on hold. Not overjoyed at the thought of travelling alone with a young baby anyway, let alone spending all our money on it..!

Hope everyone is good and bubs doing well

Hi papia
it sounds like a growth spurt doesn't it. It could also be his teeth coming through which would be painful for him.
My DD is only 10 weeks and is already teething and the signs I see are more crying and grissling than usual, lots of dribbling so all of a sudden she needs to wear a bib, wants to be closer and cuddled into me more than usual and when i try to feed her she will grissle and want to bite down on the nipple (this is very different to when she normally just has a feed)
I give her some panadol when i see these things to help her through the pain and i have bought a teething toy from the chemist with soft and hard parts for her to chew down on.
In a growth spurt DD will feed constantly during the day to the point where I can find it tiring and quite draining (and thats with eating well and taking care of myself you know) but when she goes down she is out for the night.
Wish you the best.

Hello ladies!

Sorry I have not been in to catch up much, things have been hectic!

DD1 has been really sick latley, had all sorts of tests done, but nothing has come up, so still no-one knows why, been at the hospital with her last week too, never ending!

Little Wynter is doing great, now 3 months old! Finally into 000 clothes (although most still swim on her!) Stacking on the weight nicely and getting those cute rolly polly thighs!

I decided not to do demand feeding this time, i still feed her every 4 hours, except at night where she sleeps 6-8 hours for the last two weeks! Woo hoo, never happened with my other two, but i was demand feeding with them so wonder if thats the difference.

I have been a bit down lately, it's hard with the three little ones some days, especially lately when DD1 has been so sick, and DF has not been a very supportive partner, everything is always happening to him and he doesn't think about how i'm going with everything, gets annoyed when he has to hold Wynter so i can do something cause she cries and he doesn't know how to settle her, probably cause he hasn't had enough practice! Never mind i'll get through, just hard some times.

On a happy note though DS and DD1 have been great with Wynter and DS is still a great little helper and completely adores his little sister, so gorgeous!

Feeling not so good about my weight lataley, with the others i lost weight straight away, but too quickly which stuffed up my milk supply, so i'm trying not to worry about loosing weight until i have finished feeding this time (or at least till she is 6 months) I'm not the type of person who can loose weight slowly, it's all or nothing!

starlet - it is going fast isn't it, crazy fast, my baby is growing too quickly!

AishasYummyMummy - I only have dial up and pics take me forever to look at, it's certianly nothing personal hun :hugs:

joy2me - you poor thing, teething already! Wynter had a tooth come partially through about 4 weeks, but it has disapeared again thank god!

HollyHotLips - It's hard this parenting gig, especially when your man isn't too supportive, big hugs to you hun, you'll get through. Do you go to any mum's groups or anything? It helps to catch up with people in the same boat as you...

papia - Sounds like a growth spurt to me too! My little man was a good feeder too, and a large lad, did the same thing.

jojo72 - Sounds like everything is going well hun! Glad to hear you are enjoying your little one and finally have time for ourself, or housework!

Hi guys
aishas: I finally got to look at your pics and he is such a cutie and you can see how he has filled out over the weeks and has more hair. I love his eyes and cute button nose.

mummy_jessy: I bought this book called the post baby conversation and i found it really interesting - especially how we have to negotiate with the other parent what we want otherwise there will be no changes and, another good point was how we are both working full time but when DP comes home from his job mine continues and never ends so how are we going to negotiate sharing that time of raising dd? He's been away working however so i've had to raise her myself since 5 wks old and she'll be 12 wks by the time he gets back - I almost don't want to share her really.
I only have 1 baby whereas you have 3 so I would be upset too if i was you - you are amazing.

I know what you mean with the weight thing - i started off well and then mum came to stay for two weeks and the healthy eating and exercise went straight out the window. so after the choc orange tim tams packet i finish i will get back into it lol

Also can you tell me more about the feeding - what times do you feed approx and put baby to bed for the night?

whats everyone's routines feeding and going to bed? just out of curiousity and gage where we're at. Thanks

jojo72

Routine....don't have a strict one at all. Everything is very baby led around here.

Xavier sleeps all night usually from about 9 to 8 or 9. The last few days he has been waking up at about 630am. Probably because of the sun. I'm going to turn him around in his cradle tonight so he isn't facing the window and see if that makes a difference.

Take last night bedtime to now.

Slept in the car on the way home from friend's house- 830pm to 930pm

Had a feed when we got home and then went to sleep til 6.45am this morning

Feed at 7am. Fell asleep on the boob. Sleep back in bed til 11am.

Feed (fell asleep on boob again for 30 minutes!) and play til 1pm. Sleep in pram whilst walking to supermarket etc til 2.30pm.

Feed (fell asleep on boob again!) Put him back in bed at 4.30. I will wake him at 6 for a feed if he's not up by then.

He doesn't usually crash out during a feed like he has been today. He's been quite sleepy. Must be doing some growing! Or just feeling lazy. We had a busy weekend.

So far today he has had 3 feeds. He was in a pattern for a while there where after his 5th feed he would go to bed for the night. Then last week he was waking at 11.30pmish for another feed. So I have been either waking him for a feed at about 10.30pm or trying to squeeze another one in throughout the day.

The only structure I am trying to keep is that he gets at least 5 feeds a day and that we follow a feed/play/sleep pattern.

When he gets put in bed I put him in his sleeping bag give him a quiet cuddle and rock for a couple of minutes. Put him in his cradle and give him his dummy, rock his cradle and he is usually asleep within a couple of minutes.

I usually get him in bed before the crying and yawning starts. It's much harder to settle him if that happens. If it does I usually have to b/feed him for a few minutes and then try again.

If we are out he will sleep in his pram or the car.
He's learnt all the things that mean it's bedtime and he's getting better at getting off to sleep by himself.

What is everyone else up to with their bubs? I would be curious to know. Jo

Well it sounds like you're doing a good job - what i would do for a 11 - 12 hr sleeping baby LOL

I understand the baby led routine I think that's gentle and works for us too

I found for dd it's feed/ play/ feed/ sleep and that would account for all the rolls on her legs, chin and tummy i guess LOL

She's been changing a number of times of late with sleeping through the night 8 - 5.30am and the last few days she's been up at 2am for a feed and again at 5.30am for a feed (she's also been teething since that change) but I might look at her pattern through the day and see how much she is feeding cos i haven't counted since she was about 3-4 wks old

Owen's routine is like this(might as well do the whole day for ya):

6am- Wake for feed, then back to sleep

7.30am - Awake ready for play!

8.30am - Sleep

9.30am - Feed and play

11ish - sleep

12ish - play

1pm- feed, then play

3pm- Sleep

4pm - Feed, then play

5pm- sleep

6pm - play

7pm- feed and then down to sleep for the night.

Howdy all,

It's been ages since i have posted in here. Dakota is doing really well. Weighed her last week and was 6.85kgs so is definitely gaining enough weight. She's such a happy and content bub. So much different to what ethan was at this age. I had taken ethan off the boob by this stage cause couldn't keep up with the demand. Dakota only has one unsettled period of the day and that's at dinner time (of course!!) and that's the only time she may only have a 2 hour gap in between feeds. She lasts at the least 3 hours and most of the time it is 4. Have found that if i try to feed her before she lets me know she is hungry then she fusses and doesn't really have a good feed, so i just follow her lead.

Oh and she rolled over today!!! :smiliedance: YAY!! Ethan got so excited. It was cute. He was jumping up and down saying "kota rolled over, kota rolled over!" Then when i put her on her belly again and he was jumping up and down again saying "roll kota roll, roll kota roll!!! Dag of a child he is!!

Anyways, sorry for no personals tonight. I'm buggered and need sleeps!! Will try to get in more often though!

Kasey

Hi all, sorry i haven't been around much, im too busy, in the modern cloth nappy section. I have spent about $200 on fabric which should get me enough for 15-18 nappies. Can't wait until i start sewing them... it's so addictive:o
Anyway Ethan is doing well only put on 60 grm last month:thumbsdown: The childhood nurse wasn't worried, but i have been trying to leave him on the breast longer.
ethan now (13 weeks) usually goes to sleep 5.30-6pm (it is SOO nice, wish DD would do the same) wakes once at night and generally from 5.30-7.30am wakes. Feeds and back to bed an hour later and usually sleeps for 3 hrs or so waking for a feed and off to sleep until 5.30pm.
He is having 5-6 feeds a day.
He is fantastic to put to sleep. We put him in the cot and he puts himself to sleep, He might cry for a 1 minute but that is it.
He hates been held when we wants to sleep, he likes just to be left alone. Poor vistors..they don't get to hold him long after a feed.
DD is really good, when he wakes up she will go and sit by his cot while she waits for me to get him out.
I started back at work this week. All is well not as tired as i thought i would be....

Hi Ladies!

Looka like most of you and your bubbas have a great routine going!

Not so easy here, i kinda just feed her when i think she is hungry, and before she gets hungry if i have to go out and get DS from kindy etc. She still feeds pretty much every 4 hours though, will sleep from 8-3am then wakes for a feed goes back to sleep then wakes again at about 6.30 for another feed, then goes back to sleep again, then her day starts when she wakes up again...

I have started giving her a formula feed at night, to try and get her to sleep longer, otherwise she seems to still wake up every 4-5 hours for a booby feed, and with 3 little kiddies to look after i am wrecked if i don't get at least 5 straight hours sleep!

monique - Tyran is a spunky little dude isn't he! He's so cute!

adria - I made all cloth for my little girl, but have ended up hardly using them so far, i am just way too busy and find that they leak really easy, as if i don't have enough washing to do without 5 clothes changes a day as well as nappies!

ethan's mum - thats so cute, that he was so excited about her rolling over! Go Dakota!

joy2me - teething already!? I can see spots of teeth in DD's mouth, and sometimes i can even feel them come through, but the next day they are gone again.

This time last year i was TTC, not a lot of bedroom sport going on this time this year so far though, lol!

Amumslove, Owen wasn't on the cards AT ALL for us. DP didn't want anymore kids, but I did(I always wanted to have 4).

Eventually he changed his mind. Owen is our first baby together. I really wanted a girl because I had two boys already, but it didn't happen for us lol. Still really happy though because Owen is the only one to carry on DPs surname so far.

Anyhow, feeling really nervous atm as tomorrow I'm going for an info session/interview for a business traineeship program(government). I really really want a placement but then it means I have to leave Owen with someone. Argh! Hes still such a baby and I'm not sure if I'm ready to leave him yet, but I don't really have much choice. We're not getting anywhere without me working!!!

Good Luck, I am sure you will do fine.

We found the opposite when I went to work we ended up worse of as most off my pay went on daycare fees so now plan on staying home til Zach is at school. My SIL and her mum want me back at work though but have not told them I don't plan on it for a while.

Starlet
04-10-2007, 19:05
Yeah we pay ALOT of $$ in child support for my partners daughter. My centrelink payments are next to nothing as he earns too much. But CSA will not take into account my 2 children(not DPs) and the fact that my DP is the one who is fully financially supporting them(I don't get child support from my ex).

Next year I will only have Bailey in Daycare 3 days a week as he starts kindy and Jayden will be in preschool 5 days a week, so it shouldn't be too much in child care fees.

Dp plans to come back to Perth to work once I get a fulltime job. We are better off splitting how much we earn between us(we'd get the same as what he is getting now). His occupation is mainly night shift anyway so we should be able to have someone home with the kids most times.

Still, the system is really unfair atm! Especially second families!

lol yeah Owen has been laughing for a while now. I love it! He has bronciolitis atm, but still happy and laughing.

He has rolled once or twice, but it doesn't interest him! He's trying more to army crawl towards things! ARGH!!

Jennifer - Good luck with your degree when you do finally decide to go for it. Make sure when u apply to ask about the campus daycare, so that you can have bub near you when you are at uni!

I'm actually looking into family day care atm, in case I do get a traineeship, because none of my kids are in school fulltime until next year and having 3 kids at daycare fulltime will be expensive(the one that the older two go to is fantastic though!!).

How has everyone's weekend been so far?

I got together with some of the kindy mums this arvo, took Jayden and Bailey so Jayden could play with his friends. Owen stayed home with Matt because he's sick. Was good to have some time out from doing all the usual baby stuff, but I did miss him like crazy(got some huge gummy smiles when I got home!!).

Hi all,

there will be no more for us, unless there is a massive accident! DF had the snip when Wynter was 4 weeks old so three is it for us, which i am fine with. I had to bribe DF into having #3 so i've never even thought of having more as a possibility.

I'm not going to go back to any sort of work till Wynter is at school. I did part time work when i had ethan, but when i had savanna we would actually loose money if i go back to work, plus we personally don't beleive in child care unless i absolutley HAD to work to put food on the table (not dissing those who out their kids in, just our oppinion)

I have no idea what to do when i do go back to work though, I worked in retail before but i'm not sure i want to do that again, the plus of retail i guess is you can choose your hours and i'd really want to only work school hours so i can pick up and drop off the kids etc.

Wynter has a cold, poor thing is terribly snuffly, and has a cough and raspy little cry, i feel so sorry for her :( , she can't feed properly cause her nose is all stuffy. Can't wait for summer when all these things go away!

Hi Ladies!

It's beautiful day here today and i'm actually feeling happy and full of energy, partly cause of the sunshine, the fact that i got an early night, wynter slept 10 hours and i got to go for a long brisk walk last night all by myself! Excersise really does do wonders in more ways than one and so does getting some mummy time where i can just be ME for half an hour every two days.

Wynter however is not too good, have a Dr appt today for her, as her cough is worse and now she is wheezing too, poor bub, no wonder she slet all night, i really think she feels terribel, she has slept all day too.

I bought her one of those bumbo baby seats to sit in to give her time not lying down, cause of her flat spot, and she loves it http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m29/mumma_jessy/wynterbumbosig.gif She thinks she's a big girl i'm sure of it!

Hope your all well :hugs:

HI June mummy's
I'm new to posting thread (and to being a mum) but i'm giving both a go today.
I had my first son on June 15th. So he is nearly 4 months old. He's so easy, most of the time and motherhood so far is an absolute dream, everything i imagined it would be and so much more. Ewan Flynn is his name, he is still waking once and sometimes twice in the night to feed which i was told would probably have stopped by now, but not for my hungry hippo, he's quite skinny though, must have hollow legs.
well i'll keep it short and see if you'll all allow me to join your june group.
Goodluck everyone.

Hi Ladies,

Well my feeling good day didn't last long, took Wynter to the Dr and he sent us straight to hospital, she has bronchylitis, and was finding it hard to breathe. hospital (http://i100.photobucket.com/albums/m29/mumma_jessy/Wynhosp2.jpg)

So we spent tuesday night in hospital and most of yesterday too, she is hopefully on the mend now, but still has a very nasty cough which keeps her waking up and obviously a sore throat from all the coughing so she cries after every cough, poor thing.

Ethan was NOT happy about leaving us in hospital and his little world shut down for a while, he had a massive melt down and kicked and screamed when he had to go home without us, was so sad, made me feel even worse. much better now we're home but still not right, probably worried we'll leave him again.

Welcome firsttimer!

Must go, lots o do this place is a mess after not being home for 2 days!

Sorry if i killed the thread :gloomy:

Oh Jessy, I feel for you, Owen has just gotten over bronchiolitis, his wasn't bad enough to be in hospital, but my older two had it when they were babies, my oldest was borderline ICU and DS2 was only 10 days old and in hospital for 2 weeks. Hope she has a speedy recovery. Usually day 4 is the worst and then it gets better from there.

BTW, she looks so cute in her bumbo!

WElcome aboard Vicky! And congrats on ur first baby :)

Jennifer, how did you go with the farex? Did she eat much? Owen is eating pureed fruit already :S Come 3pm he will scream and scream, refuses milk, won't sleep. But will eat! And boy does he eat!!!!

I got a call today btw, have an interview with the Department of Public Transport Authority. It's a week from Monday. OMG! I'm so excited(as I've only been on the traineeship program for a week!)! But at the same time I don't want to put Owen into daycare! Hopefully my mum will look after him a few days a week.

Hi everyone i just caught up on the thread - mumma jessy she is so cute in the bumbo seat - where do you buy the seats from?
i hope she's much better now poor little thing having a bad cough.
Starlet have you got your interview tomorrow - wish you all the best and hope it works out for you.
dd isnt too keen on lying down for too long either so I have to put her in the bouncer, go walking etc so i might get one of those seats too
Has anyone bought their baby seat for feeding yet?
aisha's mummy I bought some farex the other day too and just started dd on it even though she is only 14 wks she is almost off the growth charts and weighed in at 7kg and 65cm height etc when she was 12 wks and it feels like she is sucking my boob right off when she goes to feed now so I gave her a teaspoon of it yesterday and another teaspoon today and she loved it and took the pressure off my boobs and bfg

hope you're all good and here's a pic of my bubby Te Aomihia:

I feed Owen in his swing, or in the rocker. I tried to put him in the high chair but it is HUGE lol.

Those bumbo's look great, I want one too. I saw something similar in Toys R Us the other day!!!

My interview is actually next Monday. Thanks :)

Thanks Ladies - Your bubbies are gorgeous too!
I do think she's going to be spoilt with every good thing (I went to babyco today and just saw the most beautiful single bed with princess quilt etc and I thought i want to get my baby that lol).
I also saw the bumbo seat for $80 which i thought was a little expensive - do you think it's worth it?
I have one more paper to complete for uni and then I'm thinking about applying for childrens services a couple of days a week next year. Training starts feb 08 so bub would be 7 mths by then. What do you think?

I think go for it hun! You worked so hard at uni for this!

The seat that I saw was a BebePod and that was on sale for $50. How long do u reckon bub would be in the bumbo for? It would have good resale value too.

Owen won't be spoilt(though I can't stop buying him cute summer outfits! lol), I have two others always asking 'where's mine?!' lol.

Holly, Have been wondering how you were going! Hope you can stop by more often :)

Hello ladies

I just found this thread too. May I join?
DS is 4 months and 2 days today :) He's just gotten over his first cold. It was kind of cute as his cooing sounded kind of husky and sexy. He gave me his cold though  .
He can roll but I think it's only by accident. We were ment to go to a physio appointment this morning to assess his flat spot but she had to cancel.
I had no experience of babies before ds came along (never babysat, never changed a nappy, only held 2 babies in my life) so it's been quite a learning curve. DS obviously didn't read any of the texts book though as he's developed his own feed-play-sleep-play-sleep routine which can make life a bit tricky. He started sleeping through from about 7 weeks, however, that's come to an end :crying: and he's waking again for a night feed (ff).
His current favourite passtimes include sucking on his fists, raising his legs in the air and pulling my hair. I am going to get him weighed tomorrow, he's a very big boy. He'll be well over the 9kg mark now.
Nice to read your posts and see what other mothers of similar aged babies are doing. :)

Hi Ladies!

Sorry haven't been here much, busy household lately! Wynter is back to normal, in fact even better, she has slept 12 hours the last 2 nights and has settled into a routine all by herself!

Unfortunately though her formula feeds are now twice a day, my milk is dropping off, like it has every time at around 3 months, so it was expected, but still a little sad. I guess the bright side is she seems much happier and content, and sleeps so much longer!

DS starts his new pre-school tomorrow so i'm in for a big day, i don't see it going well, he is such a sensitive little man no doubt we will both be in tears by the time i try and walk out of that gate....

Savvy will be 2 soon, so am trying to get organised for her little party next sunday, and i bought Hi-5 tix today for her and me to go in january! (got good ones too!) I think i'm more excited than her! The boys always go out and have boy's days, so i thought it was about time the two of us went out somewhere too.

I looked at the bebePod seat for $50 too, but when i sat Wynter in it she was no-where near as upright as in the bumbo, also the bumbo is much bigger and will fit her much longer, my almost 2y/o fits in it (much to my discust!) Plus like someone said the re-sale is fantastic, they go for about $50-$60 second hand on e-bay...

HollyHotLips

I bought a bumbo, DD has a flat spot and I thought it would help... she loves sitting in it, esp now she has discovered she has feet!!! It is also handy if you just need to put her down for a second while you do something, and they can use it up to at least 18months so you'll get your money's worth. Big plus I also found was that it's so easy to carry you can take it with you when you go visiting, saves having to hold the baby the whole time!!!

Becs: I know what you mean, I had never had much experience of babies either only had the occasional hold of a friends and that was it!! Yes, a steep learning curve but I am enjoying it.

DD has been very unsettled this last week and waking up at all sorts of silly hours... night before last was the worst, she was up every half hour from 3am.... but she managed to sleep right through again last night, really hope she gets back into her routine. I think she has a tooth coming through which could be the culprit.

Have a good day everyone :)

Hello Ladies
Yesterday DS not only properly rolled over onto his side for the first time (he's done it a few times before but I think just by accident) but went all the way over onto his tummy! I think he got quite a shock. (I know I did!) He's done it a couple of times now. (Just showing off to mummy...) When he's on his tummy he can also twist around a bit too. Hmmm, me thinks I will have to tether him soon.:detective:

He got weighed this morning, no wonder I get so tired when I carry him as he's 9.7kg!! I don't think he'll ever be a jockey.

HHL - My ds has also discovered his feet. It's so cute isn't it??? His legs are almost permanently in the air now which makes wrapping him or putting blankets across him a bit tricky.

Wynter is 4 months old today!! Haven't weighed her yet but will measure her when she wakes up (like to do it on the 21st every month to see how much she has grown!)

She is still in 000 clothes, and won't be ready for 00 for a few weeks yet, bt is chubbing up nicely, but still nowhere near as chubby as my other two were.

Starlet, we paid the same for our bumbo, he looks like he i enjoying it in there! Wynter loves it because she gets to be involved in everything, even sits in it on the table while we are eating dinner.

So glad it's over though, I hate interviews lol. I always get soooo nervous!

Owen stayed with my mum while I was there this morning, he just sat in his bumbo and watched her cook lol.

I have a busy few days now, I have a friend who came over from Brisbane and she has been staying an hour away at her brothers place, so she is coming up tomorrow and going Friday(flies out Saturday). So I will be showing her around Perth, etc. It's going to be great!

Hello
DS is still mastering the art of rolling over onto his tummy and releasing the arm on the side that he rolled. He did it a couple of times yesterday. His legs start to wriggle like he's trying to crawl a bit. All the wriggling effort resulted in a bit of a backwards commando crawl for about 2 cm. He's a pukey baby so when he does roll onto his tummy, he often pukes. If I haven't wiped it away he's sometimes gotten tired and he face has fallen in it. When I pick him up he's got baby puke stuck to a cheek. :(

He slept from about 10 to 5:30 this morning :smiliedance: . He started sleeping through from about 7 weeks but about a month ago that changed  . Let's hope he's returning to long sleeps :fingerscrossed:

Hi everyone it's so good to catch up on your news and your babies sound like they are all progressing so well, love the pics there are some big babies with the kind of cheeks you just want to kiss and kiss and kiss like my little lovey.
I saw lots of bumbo's on eBay and even if you bought new you could sell it on eBay and make some money back, which is good.
Te Aomihia is 4 mths old today and got her weighed on wednesday she is now 8 kg's, 66.5cm length and the nurse put it down to genetics (my dad and siblings were all big bubbas) but i think it's great - keeps the inlaws at bay too lol because she is thriving - sometimes i get tired of hearing them tell me what i should do you know what i mean.
DP comes home today; he's been away 3-4 wks working and said i have to help him when he comes home because he's bought me a gift??
So i have no idea what it is - but i don't want to get my hopes up just in case he's bought one of those gifts everyone can enjoy like an umm x box (dont like them) LOL anyone want to take a guess at what it is?? lol

Good afternoon ladies,

I haven't replied in here for sooo looong. I have been reading whenever i get the chance though. We are all going good. My baby is getting so big! I can't believe she will be 5 months old on saturday :crying: I am going to try her on some solids tonight and she how she goes. Well round 5ish. Give her belly some time to digest before bed time! I have been waiting till i had fully weaned her onto the bottle before trying solids, just so it wasn't too much on her belly. I'm down to one feed. And that can either be in mid afternoon or middle of the night!!! I can't keep her still!!! She is rolling all over the place. As soon as we lay her down she is rolling, she'll be crawling before we know it. And i am sure she is going to get a tooth soon. Well that's what i keep telling myself anyway. She's pulling on her ears at times (this was the first sign of Ethan teething and only started doing a couple of weeks before first tooth). And her bottom gum is bright white. It almost looks like they are pushing on her gums. Just wished it would hurry up!!

Not much else has been happening with us. We have set a wedding date of 20/09/08, one day after we've been together for 10 1/2 years!!! I can't wait. We have church booked, reception booked now just gotta plan everything else in between! Stephen's parents have offered to pay for it and are allowing us 10k. Though we don't have to spend the lot, eg we can spend 8 and go away for a week if we want too. Stephen wants to go away so trying to keep costs down!!

Oh and stephen crashed our second car 2 weeks ago. Not happy! He crashed into a copper too!! After running a red light with no insurance :( He was on his way to work and sun had just come up. The glare hit him in the eyes and couldn't see the colour of the traffic lights. Another car went through just before him so he assumed it was green. Realised when he got to the lights that it was red and didn't have any time to react or anything. Oh well he's ok and that is the main thing. Don't know what i would've done if anything had've of happened to him. So now we've just got a massive bill to pay. Without the bill being finalised we are up for $10,900. Get that! Just wish we had the money to pay it. Maybe we might win lotto or something! Would be nice.

Will attach some pics of Dakota too:

Dakota in washing basket!! (http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m271/kj_sb/Pictures122.jpg)

In bath (http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m271/kj_sb/Pictures640.jpg)

In bath again!! (http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m271/kj_sb/Pictures644.jpg)

Big smiles!! (http://i106.photobucket.com/albums/m271/kj_sb/Pictures600.jpg)

Anyways, i'm going to run. Try and get some stuff while Ethan and Dakota are asleep. Would be nice to lay down but better not.

Oh and 2 weeks before he had accident i found out that i have an under active thyroid. So now got constant blood tests and check ups to see if meds are stabilising it. We have already had to double the dosage of meds cause it had gotten a little bit better but not as good as they would like it. I'm sooo over it. At least i know what was making me so damn tired and cranky though.

Have a good day everyone

Hi everyone,
Sorry I haven't been on for a while - 2 little kids are keeping me very busy.
It is great to read how everyone is going and catch up on the news. I love all the photos, everyones bubbas are soooooo cute!

Eli is growing well, unfortunately she seems to have an allergy to dairy foods so I have had to cut all dairy products from my diet (she is breastfed) which has been very very very hard. I am normally a dairy-aholic and I am suffering with no milkshakes, no chocolate, and no cheese :banghead: . I have lasted 1 week but slipped up abit yesterday and had some cheddar cheese biscuits so today she is covered in a rash and has been pulling her legs up and crying a lot - I feel really terrible for eating the biscuits now:( .
Wow - I cant believe that so many of you have started on solids already. With Eli's eczema and allergies I will be waiting until at least 6 months. DD1 was allergic to farex (it made her vomit until she turned grey and passed out which scared me to death) so I am going to skip that and just start with vegies.

Eli's not rolling yet but I think she is getting close. She turns her shoulders over but her hips stay flat so she gets a bit twisted. It makes me laugh but I feel sorry for her looking so uncomfortable so I give her a gentle shove and push her over.

She is at such a fantastic age now, she's very alert and expressive, easy to care for (fully breast fed), sleeps well and cant yet move and get up to mischief  .

Hi everyone:wave: , Zach rolled for the first time today and has done it a few times since:smiliedance: , once he gets on his tummy though he doesn't like it and gets frustrated very quickly. He is loving his Farex in the morning for breaky.

I agree that 4mths is a great age as they start to interact with you more. Zach's face lights up when he sees me and he loves a chat.:)

Hope everyone has a goodnight.
Bev

Hi now dp is home I'm extra busy and just catching up on the posts.
dakota is beautiful love the pics
everyone's babies sound good progressing well
we went to the reptile park on sunday a stinking hot day and baby got a rash the poor thing
last week she also got immunised and I did not expect what she had to go through two needles and only 2 cm apart on the same leg??
and then oral meds in the mouth for gastro ....I just thought it was a bit full on.
when i had my son in NZ he got like one needle and that was it. so I felt so sorry for her and now i don't want to take her back for anymore so it's a real conflict of emotions I'm feeling about it at the moment - i just think there are far too many needles for a little baby up to 1 yr. Had to get that out maybe I should go to the immunisation section.
We bought a Bebepod which is great - the bumbo wouldnt last long with dd as her thighs were too big and the Bebepod just looked like it was going to last longer.
thanks for your work support still not sure about that one but i've got two weeks to finish that assignment for uni so i need to crack the whip and get my shyt together.
jsut wondering what are some of the things you just couldn't do without that you would recommend?? toys etc
talk soon

amumslove - congrats on the rolling for the first time :yelclap:. Your pics are great too.

Joy2me - I agree that all the immunisation needles are terrible. Its no wonder most adults have a fear of needles  .
On the toy query, with DD1 I found a trolley to assist in walking very valuable from the time they learn to stand up. My DD loves her swing and sandpit too - these two things were our best investments toy wise. They have provided many hours of entertainment.
Your baby looks gorgeous in the photo - such an adorabe smile.

Starlet - CONGRATULATIONS! on the new job.

We are all well here. We had playgroup this morning and Eli was in a really strange mood and kept squeeling whenever any of the kids came near her. At one stage she started giggling and chuckled until she puked all over herself - very charming.
Are anyone elses babies having really bad hair days????
My poor Eli has bald spot all around her head and long dark tuffs of hair on top. Every morning when I get her from her cot she has a layer of hair on the sheets where her head rests. If she keeps losing hair at the rate she is she will be bald very soon  .

I will post some piccies soon....

Sparkler - thank you i love my cuties - what do you mean by a trolley - I saw some ladies in the park with their kids on little toy bikes and a long handle went up so the mums could push them along while out walking. Is this what you mean??

CONGRATULATIONS Starlet:yelclap:

Aisha your dd is growing so fast and I love the idea of buying transfers from eBay thats great, very clever and congrats on your new car - it's flash!!:smiliedance:

Hello ladies

How are you all?

DS is continuing the growth spurt that started at conception. He's now wearing 'toddler' nappies and I have just bought him some "1" sized clothes (although he is a bit small for them yet...next week might be a different story though).

He's mastered the whole rollinig over, releasing the trapped arm thing now. He also loves to grab hold of his feet when lying on his back, or sitting up for that matter. It's very cute but he's such a difficult baby to get off to sleep and he's a catnapper. I put him in his cot, all the usual sleep cues (and he is definately tired) and leave him all peaceful with his eyes almost closed. Two minutes later there's a cry from his room and I go in and find his turned himself onto his tummy and puked. For extra good measure he often with then plant his face in this. It's getting a bit frustrating tbh. I had to rescue him the other day because his legs got tangled in teh side of the cot. I've since bought a mesh cot protector.

Some photos:
Bubs in the bath (his modesty is protected). I bought this bath seat to make life a bit easier.

Awesome photo's and good to hear how your bub is progressing.
can i ask how much your lil bubby weighed at birth and length? and how much now?
Because our dd looks just a little smaller than your lil man and yes every week counts so good idea to buy the next size up lol He is just gorgeous.
My dd was born 06/07 at 8 lb 10oz and 54cm length and yes it's like a continual growth spurt from birth LOL now she's 8kg and 66.5cm length. I have been buying size 1 clothes as well because she is so tall but she is wearing size 0 clothes comfortably, size 00 she won't be in for much longer and I have stacks of clothes I might sell on eBay lol because they just keep piling up and it's ridiculous (i have to be more wise as to what i buy for each stage and be thrifty with the finances)
how do you guys buy clothes for your bubs? are u a buy as you need it or do you buy certain things for each stage??? just curious
talk soon

DS was 4.51kg and I think 53cm at birth. I got him weighed and measured a couple of weeks ago and he as 9.7kg and 70cm. The bath photo is the most recent.

I'm taking him to the GP tomorrow afternoon to get his 4m vaxes, I am really not looking forward to the tears (his or mine).

I usually only by his clothes from BigW, KMart or Target (only the best :) ) and I usually only buy if it's on sale. I often still buy unisex stuff in case he has a little sister one day (eg pj's, overalls). :fingerscrossed: I don't buy "outfits" iykwim, I usually just buy romper suits and pants/shorts.

Whenever I pass a thrift shop I always check to see if they have anything in there that will fit him sometime in the next 12 months or so. Got a couple of good bargains so far.

Hello, thought I should add a quick update since I don't seem to be on here much anymore.
Glad everyones bubs are doing well.
Ryan is about 6.6kg so just average sized but is tall and he is very strong, has been rolling for a week or so now and is actually able to very slowly commando crawl about a foot or two to get to a toy. I guess it won't be long now before he is moving quicker so I'll have to start being careful about Kayla's toys!
He is still co sleeping with us, and is getting a nightly bottle. He has huge interest in food but I haven't started solids yet apart from the odd taste which he seems to enjoy. He doesn't seem to 'need' it yet so I am not rushing.
Hope everyone is well.
Jo

OMG Becs LOL that is a great weight and makes a lot of sense considering he was a big boy at birth too aye

I got dd weighed today and she is 8.5 kg and 68cm tall amazing .....one of the mothers I caught up with today said to me it looks like she's grown taller in the last two weeks by a cpl of cm's i reckon and sure enough - in two weeks she put on 500g and grew 1.5 cm taller that just blows me away just how much they can grow in such a short time
OMG i would be sleeping and eating alot too if I was growing that much lol
hence that is why i eat as much as i can to give dd all the nutrients she needs Naah just kidding I just need to walk more and cut down on pigging out lol

Starlet I hope you're job is going well - you will be fantastic i'm sure

How are those t.shirts going Aisha's mama? have u found any good iron ons lately?

Hope everyone is doing good? I'm so happy I finished my last assignment at uni on mon so I'm finished and hopefully graduating next april 08 that's why i've hardly been on here because my brain was hurting having to knuckle down and study.

has anyone bought any clothes on eBay for their bubs - I have given up on their stuff as ppl are more out for a sale with pics of clothes and a description that makes the item look good but then when i buy it - its got a slight stain, mark, pull or whatever _ I think i will sell my excess bubba clothes on there but I don't think i will buy from there anymore

hope your week is a good one:thumbsup:

Sparkler- I have read about drops you can give to bubs before breastfeeding to take away/dissolve the diary content in the milk.
I feel sorry for you that must be so hard on both of you.
Starlet- congrats on your job:party:
Will post more later....
