Hello. I have a reflux baby who is 12 months old. We are off Losec as off 10 months and he has been fine. My DS has had Eczema since 2 months of age. Not very bad but enough to require an Authority script from Medicare for a special cream. He was always a very spewy baby until a visit to the chiro fixed the spew! Relief :yelclap: He still threw up a little every now and again. He had yoghurt no worries (or so I thought) and i tried him on cows milk a few weeks a go and he came out in bad eczema and spewed ALOT for the rest of the day. His pediatrician said she felt it was milk protein sensitivity and try him again on the milk in a month or so. Out of curiosity I have stopped the yoghurt this week and the slight spewing has totally stopped which makes me wonder if there is more of a lactose/dairy intolerance happening. I don’t know much about it so would love some advice from those of you who are dealing with this sort of thing.:hugs: Please!!

My DD has a dairy intollerance, and she is sometimes slightly spewy still if she has something her big brother gives her(great at sharing all the wrong things).

I used soy milk from about 12 months I gathered on my own she was dairy intollerant and wasn't going to risk cows milk.

**TMI below sorry**
Something which will help you know is the poo based on when he has had dairy you can really tell a difference. For my DD it goes kind of greenish and kind of sticky like and rather smelly. as opposed to not having had dairy for several days and she's her own normal. if you know what I mean.

I don't know about excema but it does sound related in that you gave your DS dairy and then it flared up so maybe keep a food and symptoms diary, talk to your GP and try to get a refferal to a specialist allergist.

I'm thinking though if dairy causes his excma to flare up then perhaps best to visit an allergist and get an allergy test as there may be other triggers which could be more serious for him.

Dairy and eczema are very commonly hand in hand. Other signs and symptoms of a dairy intolerance (which can include both lactose and milk proteins) are spewy, lack of appetite, runny/mushy poos, phlegmy.

It sounds to me like their is definately some kind of intolerance to dairy going on. It is one of the hardest proteins to break down and childrens stomachs aren't actually equiped to do it until about 2yrs of age. Some children have more problems than most and show signs like your child is. By repeatedly giving them dairy their body uses all it's energy trying to break it down instead of building a healthy immune system and retrieving nutrients from other foods.

My advice would be to take him off dairy completey until the age of 2 then introduce it again. If you see any changes again then you know it's a more permanant thing. If not you have a happy and healthy child with a fully equiped immune system.

I know not many people like it but goats milk is supposed to be a good substitute. You can also get billy goat soap which was made by a mum for her eczema prone son.
