Hi everyone,

I've been to Sydney since February, and I don't know anything about what the weather looks like in Sydney in the winter. Well, I heard that is mild but my flat doen't have any heating system. I'm planning to buy two heaters one for us the other one for my DD. What kind of / brand heater do you suggest? Do you put something on mattress to make the bed warmer?

thanks
May

Hi May,

It's probably not a good idea to put anything in bub's bed to make it warmer, though I have been told you can warm their bed with a hot water bottle and then takeit out before they go to bed. I think a column heater is the safest in bub's room.....but they do use a bit of electricity. :(

Sydney's weather can be quite cold overnight in winter, it depends where in Sydney you are though. I live in Newcastle and it can get very cold here the same as Sydney - our weather is very similar.

Hope this helps!

Hi May!
I'm not sure what the weather is like in Sydney, but a friend of mine who's house gets quite cold bought an oil heater for her baby's room and some flannelette sheets for the cot.

Hi May!

I am a "Sydneyite" and I already have Oscar - my 4.5 month old wrapped in a waffle wrap, with a sheet and cotton blanket(doubled over) at night...it is getting chilly now with temps dropping. I am sitting here with balcony door ajar at night in trackie top and pants on the couch!! :) . It will start getting cooler now and in winter can get down to 5-10degrees. But then again, with Sydney's unpredictable weather...who knows!

I highly recommend getting a baby sleeping bag as the temps can drop at night and at least your little one will be warm enough. I'm off tomorrow to purchase a grobag for winter.

take care
